I don't think they are underrated. I think they are just where they need to be. Feel like with bands like this one it is nice to have them in a place where they aren't playing giant arenas and huge venues. makes it special to have a band where it just feels right. I know what you mean though. :-)
@@mariusz3983 3 years late to your comment lmao. I do agree though, but they did play red rocks in CO which is one of the biggest venues in the US and sold out, I was fortunate enough to go in 2017. Still a mind blowing band. However, just months before in Nov 2016 they played at the Ogden in CO which housed like 50 people, was an amazing concert because it was so small. Super lucky to have gone to both
I'm not a hugely emotional person, but Sameer has a voice that, in some songs, nearly moves me to tears. His voice has so much power, passion, and sincerity. Truly one of the best vocalists out there. This band is supremely underrated.
Very rare to have two vocalists of that quality in the same band. Eric’s quite good as well (maybe not in this recording but his backing vocals are great on other songs)
I love that everybody that listens to Young the Giant is so positive towards each other. When I saw them at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago everybody knew every word to every song and you could just feel a connection with everybody in the room. Chills down my spine the whole time hands down best experience I've ever had, Young the Giant has had such an impact on my life and I hope they know how fuckin amazing they are to so many people
@@delfee They are so talented and give such a great performance. My brother took me one year for my birthday when he had never heard of them, and we ended up going the next three years for my birthday! hahaha
Saw them live yesterday here in Anchorage, Alaska-unbeatable experience. This song with a snowcapped mountain backdrop and blue skies?! absolutely surreal.
Love this song so much! As one of the first on my mother's side to be born here in the states, I've seen just how powerful, restricting, liberating, challenging, realizable, and accessible the American dream can be. For nearly everyone, the American dream varies enormously and just as you said, it's something that's both at our finger tips and unattainable at the same time. Can't wait to see you guys in Charleston and hopefully vlog about it over on my channel!
Very good comments. You know the real secret of the American dream, is finding happiness in the place and situation that you are in. Contentment is the American Dream, IMHO. Good luck getting to yours.
Such a beautiful song about a very interesting book. "An oppressive and intangible system putting the protagonist repeatedly in bizarre situations. A scorned individual must plead his innocence in front of remote and mysterious figures of authority. However, he often voluntarily submits to such treatment."
His voice literally gives me chills, it's so real and smooth and just beautiful. I'd give just about anything to sit in that field as a guest to silently listen and just take it all in.
I grew up in the 90's. I got to experience music change overnight when Nirvana broke....and it was literally over night. I say that because I'd like to point out that this type of stuff has the same mesmerizing effect on my 40 something self and this band is the best of this style. I am so glad that I am not closed minded. I have a lot of friends who don't think anything good came out after that decade. If this isn't good, I don't know wtf is!! I haven't heard anything by ytg that I haven't liked a little and most of it is some of the best stuff I've heard, ever! An absolutely awesome band!
This band is literally my favorite band ever, not only because I believe that every song they play is a masterpiece but also because they have the incredible talent to sound AMAZING AF either on album or in the open, you guys really feel pasion for your music, and you are such a gift for all of us, Please come to Peru! Love you❤👌
Truly one of the greatest bands of our generation. So much talent and passion in their performances. They're great every single time, and I'm glad I listened to them, as they really got me to appreciate alternative style music.
Sappy storytime: Young The Giant is a band that me and the man I want to marry have so much connection to. We would sit at the lake for hours and hours, talking or even sleeping, in his truck, with YTG playing after I introduced him to them on our first date on a bench, in the downtown mall at midnight, because we didn’t want to leave each other that night. He’s the best thing that has ever happened to me and getting to see this band live before covid came around really meant more than we can still explain. Two and a half years later, I’m more in love with him than I ever have been and YTG songs is the soundtrack to our life together. ♥️ These are the songs that will forever play softly in the background as we lead a life of loving and healing with each other. Thank you for helping us fall in love. ♥️
I had tears in my eyes listening to this. I don't know why. I think I was thinking of when I saw this live in Nashville at LOTG and remembered how happy I was at that moment..love you guys.
This band has helped me through some of the hardest time in my life, their songs being an incredibly melancholy backdrop to my life in one year and the exact same song being a battle song the next. The amount of sheer talent and passion this group has makes me strive for this in my own life. Thank you Young the Giant.
Each time I hear this song I think of the day I sang for the first time in front of my best friend and for me thats a big deal. I love this song and I'm glad it was the one I sang for him...
I remember hearing Cough Syrup on the radio at work and had not the slightest clue who was singing I just knew the song was always stuck in my head. Then I found them through a Deezer recommendation for Nothing But Thieves fans.....best discovery in a while for me. There latest album is just beauty. You guys are great and this in the open shows me you guys are passionate about music and I can feel it your songs aswell. Love you guys, just waiting on each album here after now. Bless you guys and I hope the wider public appreciate you and your music even more.
Greatest country ever and faith restored after the election.....love your music - voice - musicality - artistry....don't blame the country - life is a hard game to play
In my 50's, not that it matters music wise. My wife and friends have seen these guys in Connecticut and Washington, D.C., and still want to see more live shows. I first saw them on an MTV unplugged episodes (when they actually showed music related content), in 2010 and got hooked right away. They are doing a virtual show of their first album on November 21
I cannot express how deeply Young the Giant's lyrics and music touch me. I have now had the extreme pleasure of driving from Tampa to New Orleans to see the House of Blues stop on the Home of The Strange Tour. Worth every penny spent!!!!
True measure of a band is getting them out of the studio and seeing if they can still sound just as good. Bands like Young the Giant, Spoon, The Weeks (list goes on and on) barely get play on the radio, but you see them in person and realize how truly amazing they are. These are the ones that are true testaments to the art-form, not that commercial nonsense they try to cram down our throats.
Whenever I'm stressed or worried, I just turn on any of the "in the open" versions of their songs and I immediately calm down. Love this band so so much.
I didn't this song could live up to the studio version in the open, but you guys have proven me wrong. I didn't even realise I was singing along I was so intent to listen to it! Love you guys, everything you make is awesome!
I heard this song on Pandora a year ago and I was just blown away!!! I'm now a YTG fanatic. How is it that they have so many bangers but all I hear is talent-less garbage on the radio?
The purity of this band is fuckin mind blowing. The talent is unreal. They're so underrated.

Brandon Rust I understand completely
you are correct
I've had the exact same thoughts, but then realized it is part of their genius.
they are seriously underrated, they make music that moves the soul, I have yet to hear a single song of theirs I don't like.
Yes, his voice is so uniquely moving, a true jem.
Francois' vocals just restored my will to live. I freaking love this band
Was looking for a shout out on Frnacois' singing!
He is always the best of backing vocals among indie/alternative band

Mostly how he can keep perfect time while singing back up 😮

Saw them in October here in Vegas and a super small venue and it was amazing. Best thing that happened all year!
My god, I didn't know the drummer had such an amazing voice! So much talent floating around in this band.
they managed to produce this sound on a field, what the actual fuck
You should check out all their other In The Open Vids. In many cases, I prefer those to the album recording...
+Marie Kaahu yeah i've seen them, totally agree! :)
Marie Kaahu they should totally release an in the open album or ep
Pretty sure they're all mic'd up in the newer In The Open vids. Still amazing though.
Right?!
I play this over and over
Every song they make= Gold
Yep.
every open session is literally my favourite open session

It has been 10 years and the in the open series still takes up way too much space in my head
Young the Giant to me is like finding the golden ticket in a Willy Wonka chocolate Bar!
I never dreamed that I would climb
Over the moon in ecstasy
But nevertheless, it's there that I'm
Shortly about to be
‘Cause I found YOUNG THE GIANT!
Came back after several tears and years
6 years later and this song is astonishingly beautiful.
Symbolism in filming on an American football field? I think yes.
pj but also the lack of surrounding noise to record
In The Open Album. WE NEED IT!
twenty one emotions I-/ make a playlist
There is something about this band that gives me chills. Their music comes from the heart and soul. So talented!
