SAME!!!! I know your comment was from four years ago my friend but, I do as well but to this very day in 2021 lol. I was able to tell Sameer Ghadia that he has one of my all-time favorite voices along with Stevie Nicks, Lana Del Rey, and Frank Sinatra. His jaw fell to the floor and said "Stop! What?! You're putting me up there with Sinatra and Stevie?!? That's probably one of the greatest things any listener has ever said to me so, thank you." He gave me a hug and I got a photo with the band as I got the meet n greet pass. They're so unbelievably good live...I almost prefer to listen to their lives over studio. ♥️
2024 watching this at work. Ah life was so much easier 13 years ago as a college kid with no worries. Listening to these in the open sessions takes me back.
it's 2024 and I been coming to yt for this specific in the open session for yearsssss, I need it on spotify like 10 years ago and yk what, go crazy and put it on a vinyl too and I'll snatch t up REAL QUICK
I was thinking exactly the same, it’s +10years I come back to this song, close my eyes and have the same sensations I felt when I first heard these open sessions back in 2011/2012. What happy days. 15 years and no thoughts. It’s time to save them on some vinyls.
I am in love with Sameer's voice in this song. They really need to release these open session versions. I would buy the session version album in a heartbeat.
If you pay attention to the beached boat in the background, you can find that that spot is actually a landmark spot that appears in many pictures. In fact i think one of the themes you can choose for your gmail is a picture of that very boat. I did some research, the boat is called the Point Reyes, it is beached at Tomales Bay near San Francisco. A very beautiful place to go and visit or, if you happen to be Young the Giant, film an ITO.
i can't even begin to express how much i miss the time of my life when the self titled and mind over matter album were it... it felt like my life had its own soundtrack. anyways.. i love you guys, young the giant fans and band alike.. may we all find what drives us crazy
Laying in my girlfriends bed in her dorm listening to the calming rain fall outside. I am at peace finally happy with where im at in life. No better feeling
have you ever had a song that kind of takes you back to a certain point in your life? i've never teared up to a video before 'till now, but this song means so much to me. christ.
Been listening to these guys for over 7 years now... their music certainly stands the test of time. Always get something new from each listen, so talented.
Sameer and Francois have a unique connection when they sing sometimes. It's interesting the way they trade looks at each other...like they have some secret (which they prob do, see 3:26) a kind of "eye language" about what's going on with the song right then. There are other vids where I noticed that too.
I agree, there is definitely chemistry there, and it's very much visible at that point in the video I think. I theorize maybe Francois felt some type of way while looking at Sameer in that moment. He looked down right after, almost as if discouraged, and then it seems to me that he felt reassured when Sameer returned the glance with a smile
I don't think it's overproduced at all. Is all the layering what you don't like or the addition of synths or something? The production is so clean for being their first album and the aesthetic with the summery layered guitars and upbeat drums I think sounds perfect.
And if we're talking overproduced my god Mirror Master is easily the most uninspired and stale of their albums by a long shot. At least MOM had a lot of really beautiful moments, and Home Of The Strange is obviously produced perfectly for what they were going for with the album, Mirror Master just sounds like overproduced B-sides from HOTS but with indie trends from 2012.
@@nolestrono personally, i loved mirror master just as much as the other albums. the thing with young the giant is that they're constantly shifting and changing their music, that's what makes it a true breath of fresh air. songs like simplify i imagine where written from sameer to people he loves, like his wife. the aspect of bringing in math and physics in superposition made me fall for the song, it seemed like a sweet heartfelt love song compared to normal songs like 'a thousand years by Christina perri'. it's weird, ytg is the one band where i love all of their songs.
Nimala Sivakumar yeah despite my other comment I do still enjoy listening to a lot of the songs from Mirror Master. I was obsessed with Simplify when that came out. Most of it just sounds uninspired, but its YTG so even the uninspired stuff still sounds nice.
I used to be really stressed about school and stuff but now I started listen to YTG all at the time and I'm just overall more relaxed and carefree. They're my favorite band by far. Waiting with bated breath for an Open Session album.
I want them to be successful and go mainstream, but I also love the intimacy. I had the pleasure to go to a small, almost elegant venue and see these guys. It was literally the best concert experience I have ever had. Everyone was so chill and friendly, and was literally in the arms length of their feet. I don't know if i have had a better atmosphere at any other concert.
I remember when I first came across this video it had been uploaded for about a month. I listened to it on repeat for hours. It makes me so happy. This video has a special place in my heart.
There has to be someone else watching in 2020. So nostalgic 😢❤️✨
Here!! Oh gosh the nostalgia hits hard
For real...
Yess!!
Yup! I remember listening to them in highschool. It was gold then and its still gold now

Someone listening for the 1,000,0000,0000 time in 2022. A masterpiece. Still my favorite band. Thank you.
2022 November and still listening
July 2023. Been here for 7 years
Yep, they've been my favorite since cough syrup, from Fright Night... and seen them perform live in India... one of the best experiences of my life.
This was my ex's favorite song some 10 years ago.
I still play it for her. Rest in peace, Sam
Here I am in 2024 still shook up by this man’s voice and this bands’s talent 🥹
I wish I could play the orange like him.
Lol
Jenn Harris that’s a vintage orange that robust sound is hard to replicate
I thought it was an apple LMAO
Jenn Harris hahaha I've laughed about this so hard
😂😂😂
If I’m being honest….this version of the song got me through a lot. I’ll always come back to listen.
Me too throughout the years it’s always been a relief
Their music could wrench emotion from ice
The studio version is already so perfectly soft. But this one's is just magical.
I think I've listened to this band everyday since 2011
Conner Willson me too
well not technically everyday lol
The times when the band was named the Jakes time flys

I will never get tired of listening to this beautiful song

I am in love with Sameer's voice in this song. They really need to release these open session versions. I would buy the session version album in a heartbeat.
10 years later and I'm still hoping they do
Listening to this at least once a week (since 12 years) is what enforces sanity
Their open sessions are fucking incredible. More people should be aware of this band's existence.

I'd pay to see them Live if the entire set was this song, played THIS way.
Hayden H I melted when they played this live'
My girlfriend and I were just saying how we wished they did an "In The Open" acoustic concert.
Sameer's voice is amazing
3:27
this exchange is the cutest. I love it when you can see the love band members have for each other and their music.
i can't even begin to express how much i miss the time of my life when the self titled and mind over matter album were it... it felt like my life had its own soundtrack. anyways.. i love you guys, young the giant fans and band alike.. may we all find what drives us crazy
❤

This brings me back to High School and my whole hipster phase 🤝

Every year I get back here to these acoustic versions since 2010. What great memories
2022… still hasn’t gotten old ❤️
the only way to really appreciate quality and class... not many can perform like this in the open... class is class !!...
I can't stop it, my face contorts into a smile every time I hear this.
Laying in my girlfriends bed in her dorm listening to the calming rain fall outside. I am at peace finally happy with where im at in life. No better feeling
Can't get enough of this music.
still watching in 2022, Wishing they would release another album :D
The fact that they sound this good live speaks for itself
The way you can isolate each sound of the instrument, and the way they harmonize with each other. Has it really been 14 years already? 🥲
Music live in nature, so comfortable
Like the birds sing for us. We sing for the birds.
Valentin Aguirre In studio version, the beginning of this song really has bird sounds, haha
The earth without art, is just eh..
Jimmy KEL Music live in nature, it's called real Music! :) Pace!
Adryannno Adryanooo Indeed! : )
a key to a memory.
You can tell how much they genuinely love making and performing songs together as a band in this vid :')
really rare to find a singer that sounds exactly like the recorded track. his voice is dreaammyyyyy.
In the Open ranks among my top 20 tracks of any type, any genre, ever.
I agree, their open sessions are incredible!!!
if there is such a thing as angels.... you guys are it
Keep finding one great song after another today. Discovered these guys and Garry Bean. I'm one happy girly.
the popularity of a band doesn't matter. the quality does. and i believe this band gets an A+
I was feeling a little blue but now my heart is content
Anyone from 2021 ?
Coming back to this coz I was feeling nostalgic
Do not change anything about Sameer's voice!! It's PERFECT
This is the first Young the Giant song I have ever heard.
That voice is so soothing. I love Sameer!

Its awesome feeling when you find a new band with amazing music
Nothing shows the true talent musicians possess more than an open air performance and these guys are the real deal.
This song got me through middle school ❤️ I'm a senior now. I love you Young the Giant
Young the Giant's music proves that there is still great music out there, and life isn't half bad either :)
I am so in love with this whole band. And these open sessions just make me so happy because it shows just how truly talented they really are.
have you ever had a song that kind of takes you back to a certain point in your life? i've never teared up to a video before 'till now, but this song means so much to me. christ.
This makes me so happy.
I was about to type the exact same thing :)
Great minds think alike.
Lauren Fuchs smooth dude, smooth
Julian Alvarez lol
I'm sorry if this is immature or weird, but, is your last name pronounced the way I imagine that it's pronounced?
Francois's voice + Sameer's voice = perfection.
Please never take this down.
this is why i love them...it takes real musicians to play real music like this
they are TOURING and even better live. don't believe me? go see it for yourself.
LONG LIVE THE YOUNG THE GIANT!!!!!! YOUR VOICES ARE ENGRAINED IN MY BRAIN
i feel so emotional listening to this...man masterpiece!
Been listening to these guys for over 7 years now... their music certainly stands the test of time. Always get something new from each listen, so talented.
Ytg have the best lyrics I've heard in a long time. Just make you to reflect on your life.
you know a good group of talented people when they can go anywhere and always sound amazing
Sameer and Francois have a unique connection when they sing sometimes. Christi Williams true

There is no truer beauty than your acoustic takes on your own songs. Makes me cry like a baby. Love love love love and more.
They're my favorite band .) I love all their songs
2022 still watching. Talent has no age and these guys have more talent in their toes than most people will ever find. ❤️
Young the Giant, You belong In the Open

I have listened to every song on Young The Giant and Mind over Matter and this is still in my top 5
same here!
Nostalgic!!!! Still here in 2023
I will listen to this on repeat, forever. For the rest of my life. Or until youtube no longer exists lol
still here
*The world needs music like this, such a magic band*
Without the slight overproduction that was on the album, their songs shine even more. I would totally buy an acoustic album.

This version is just summer twilight. Majestic.
Remember First Listening To This Song About 4 years ago and I still love it today
I didn't know you can play an orange like that. Great acoustic version.
you guys should list WHERE these open sessions occur, because you always pick the most beautiful landscapes
I used to be really stressed about school and stuff but now I started listen to YTG all at the time and I'm just overall more relaxed and carefree. They're my favorite band by far. Waiting with bated breath for an Open Session album.
