My first B-M song was Julia Nilon reaction called - BAND-MAID... Freedom.... first time listening and I have no regrets. none. It was the title of the video, which convinced me that i should give a try to band dressed like maids.

One song among several, because their catalog of music is so extensive, is Youth. A bonus track on Unseen World. I guess you are going to do it and of course, you will be impressed. Best damn hard rock band on the planet. Sacramento loves Band-Maid.
The digital version of "Unseen World" should've been 1 track longer to include "Youth" :)

Damn, I hate having to work on Saturdays too. After an already modest week, I fell asleep about an hour before the start, which would have been 1-30 in the morning for me. From Saturday to Sunday not being able to make it to this time is already a bit embarrassing for me. But enough self-pity, it was obviously a great stream, which was fun to watch even afterwards as a video. :)
Unseen World is such an incredible album from start to finish. The additional songs/videos don't get boring either, no matter how many times I've watched or listened to them already.
And to also belatedly answer the question of how I became aware of B-M. Pretty unspectacular via the YT recommendations, where the MV to Thrill was suggested to me sometime in the second half of 2019. The thumbnail looked interesting and just 4 minutes after I clicked on it, I was hooked and fell for the ladies. :) At that time I had turned my back on rock or metal for quite some time and actually had hardly anything to do with it at all, which is why the suggestion surprised me a bit, but I will probably forever be thankful for it. To say that this one video had a big impact on me would be a huge understatement. :)

Btw, I don't recommend you to do the review of BAND-MAID NIPPON radio (ep. 1) in your future live stream. Miku mostly talked about how she got into horseracing, and Saiki mostly talked about Hanshin Tigers (Japanese professional baseball team) and her fav ball players. The ep.1 and 2 were special program, but they are starting a regular radio program from this coming Wednesday with Nippon Broadcasting System.
I saw them, in Japan, Kansai - when they first arrived on the scene. They were playing at a small rural festival. There had been a litany of boy bands and musicians in anime costumes. Band Maid was the final act - when they took the stage dressed as maids, I almost walked, but I recognized the drummer as an individual who had befriended me shortly after my arrivl in Japan. So. I remained. And. They were fantastic. That was almost a decade ago. I saw them several years later in Osaka. They were one of the tightest bands I've ever seen, which includes top jazz performers.
Missed the stream had to be up early but I re watched some of the bits I know you hadn't seen before. So pleased you have heard Unfair Game a top 5 track for me.
Favourite Unseen World song? Same as my favourite Band-Maid song. Which is the same as my favourite song. "Giovanni". It's prog-rock without all the bullshit that prog bands usually make you put up with to get to the good bits.
Before "Unseen World" they had already my favourite band. Ever. I already wanted to share their greatness with everyone. After "Unseen World" it's obvious to me that they are one of the greatest bands of all time.

Those slides you mentioned on HGK are actually Kobato! When that part came out on the live show I lost my mind!
I might have missed this live stream. I remember watching some of it though. But bonus tracks weren't included. Energy level is one thing, but every member of this band has the style, the sound that are distinctively hers. Each are different, and bringing those different sound together and fuse them in their distinctive way...can't get enough of them.
A friend, a profesional musician, after listening to a wealth of Band-Maid, remarked: Miku is what holds the band together

my BAND MAID origin story: In high school circa the early 2000s I was really into jpop specifically Utada Hikaru (and this was before Kingdom Hearts and tbh i hate that version of Simple and Clean lmfao) and Ayumi Hamasaki. Even had them on my folders lol had a buddy burn their songs on a cd. ( was also into kpop waaaaaaaay before it was cool lol) Through them I discovered X Japan from the Endless Rain last live. That led me to Dominator by Aldious which got me into Destrose, Bridear, Gacharic Spin, Cyntia, Dazzle Vision and BABY METAL which i became a huge fan of. I then discovered Thrill and tbh i wasn't really hooked. I mean i would still check out their new songs but I was still more of a BABY METAL fan. Alone is what started making me become a real fan and by Daydreaming, BAND MAID replaced BABY METAL as my favorite band.

So many questions to answer....My favourite song from Unseen World is Sayonakidori. I have ALL the songs playing on my playlists and I think all from Unseen World are " Platinum tier",. However, we all have a soft spot for Miku and I can easily see Saiki singing this song. IMO it is Miku's best song to date and as it stands on the album... it lends to a "little" respite, a breather if you will (but not much). Such is the quality throughout this album. "Honourable Mentions".... Manners, Honkai, Giovanni, Warning.... actually every song....
Favourite Album..... Unseen World??? It's hard coz unlike a "normal band's progress", Band-Maid actually DO get better.... like a good red wine. Their previous music is also great, but one can track the improvement. Just when you thought the couldn't improve/get better.... they do. I believe that "Unseen World" is their Zenith.... and if not, I would gladly take a kick in the nuts to be proven wrong ....luckily I'm looking to expand my family....lol
Now that you have listened to Unseen World, just go backwards. Do an album listen (Llike now) to Conqueror, then Domination etc. This stream was great, even though I only caught it on RUclips. Conqueror has been accused .... "Too soft"... which IMO is BS. The girls "dared" to try some new ideas.... still a great album. Do that..... work yourself back.
As for "How I found Band-Maid"?? I was on RUclips, mid-late 2015. I had just watched BabyMetals' "Gimme Chocolate", then I was recommend "Thrill". I saw the Thumbnail, and thought NO!!!... But it kept coming up, till one day I decided "OK, I'll look at it, just to get rid of it on my opening YT page".. and I was drawn, intrigued. I started adding their songs to my Spotify playlists, but I wasn't till I saw Puzzle (live)....that was the moment I became a MAIDIAC. Till that point I was always "watching them from afar"...But puzzle made me realize that this band IS the real deal.
ANYWAYS....seems I'm going to have to make a 3rd 1 hour audio folder of these songs I haven't heard most of either (thanks Potter) 👍 as far as writing & composing songs, their the new Japanese Beatles (but which girl is McCartney? lol) really I'm sure it's a full shared group effort. I'll shut up commenting now lol
I have loved this band since first listen. Unseen world is an amazing album, yes their best in my opinion. Not one bad song, how many albums can you say that about?

Amazing album! Wish I could find a copy that wasnt a rip off.. All the albums i've bought so far were like 8-12 quid but this one is like 35 plus! I guess its out of stock?
When Band-Maid were signed to Nippon Crown, there was a distribution deal with JPURecords in the UK and other places, which meant Band-Maid albums could be bought at local album prices. Then their management signed them to Pony Canyon, who after a year still haven't signed any distribution deal with anyone outside of Japan. So if you want a genuine copy of Unseen World you have to pay import prices. Which also means no local distributors are going to promote their new albums. Having albums on streaming services is fine but streaming services won't be promoting them.
@@thomasrotweiler Thats a shame- are they holding back due to covid shutdowns? Its gonna limit Miku's world domination plans if they dont have any distribution outside Japan :(

There's nothing wrong with disagreements in good faith, but john mcsmith's endless sarcastic comments and antagonistic attitude really detracted from this stream. He behaved in exactly the same way in your "Sayonokidori" video so this isn't an isolated incident or a "bad day". He got away with it then and decided to seek out another Band-Maid stream and do it all over again, for hours. This is an intentional pattern of behaviour. I didn't mention it in your "Sayonokidori" video because he was ignored like all trolls should be. Unfortunately he got a lot more attention in this one.
Similarly, Jonas W (not Jonas S) began by appearing to try to offer an honest, different perspective but joined with john mcsmith in cheering on the trolling around the 1:35:47 mark and joining in himself at 1:36:35 and celebrating tricking Old Mr B.
They try to hide behind a trolls' favourite defense "it's just disagreeing" and, well, yes. Trolls almost by definition offer a different opinion. But it's very easy to disagree in an honest way. For literally hours, these two deliberately and repeatedly chose not to. To the detriment of everything except their egos.

And i just had the most unpleasant stream.. wanted to enjoy the happy Band-Maid moment but apparently disgusted with that duo attitude (attention seeker).....a bit turned off for me... Immature attitude.. any trolling events that keeps on coming shouldn't be reply...just ignore.. it's the best way..kinda disrespectful to the reactors though
@@estherbrowne2017 I'm happy to ignore but I'd rather engage in discussion. Unfortunately these two had their minds made up and were obviously weren't interested in discussion. Also the chat shows up on the video. So even if you "block" these people, they show up on the video. I agree it's extremely disrespectful. john mcsmith obviously doesn't like the band (which is fine) but he showed up to this video just to bother people. It is kind of funny that his best move is saying something sarcastically. This is the favourite move of my primary-school aged child as well which says a lot about his mentality, I think.
