Joe is a real legend to me. I love art and I've been loving Motörhead since I was a child (I'm 32 now). He's amazing and Motörhead was my first metal band I liked. How important he has been for the bands success.
I'm Totally Agree with You, Joe !!! War Is Bullshit !!! Peace,Love,Art,Justice and Freedom To All Humankind !!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Cheers and Life On !!!
Joe Petagno's work is iconic and he is one of my favouritve sleeve artists. He's a great guy, a real gent. My band Attica Rage commissioned him to design the cover art for our debut album Ruin Nation and revamp our existing skull logo mascot (the Motorhead similarities are deliberate, hence the choice in artist!) Unfortunately no longer hired by Motorhead due to some problem with their management a few years back. Top bloke, amazing artist, vastly underrated.
Joe Great work with your artwork for Motorhead!May Ian RIP Lemmy was a GOOD MAN. I wa stoked to meet him one night. He said here mut be omething going on better han this in a drab backtage room one night. I tepped up to him after seeing shoulders shrug and recomended a large topples bar near the Celebrity in Anahiem CA. He said sounds good lets go! We did and Lemmy and I spoke for an hour drinking Bourboen and Coke. He was a good person and talked to me like a friend. He toldme it was nice to talk with someone who knows whats going on. Comming from him was a nice thing to hear. I told him I know Motorhead was considered a hard rock or Metal band but I bieng a surf punk thaought they had some good Punk sound I liked too. He smiled and nodded yes . RIP Lemmy I do believe he is in the better place.
Joe is a GENIUS. He did fantastic Motörhead covers !!! But my all-time favorites are: *ANOTHER PERFECT DAY, ORGASMATRON & ROCK'N ROLL* They are MASTERPIECES !
A MASTER of ART !!! Thanks for posting !!! Thanks to Toño Rockería-Mantys Tattoo(Valladolid,Spain) for put the Art of Joe with a Superb Snaggletooth in my arm. Cheers and Life On !!!
@trubblemuffin I've been told that this is the same guy by a friend who has been collecting lots of old black light posters for years and I trust he is correct unless someone else can prove it wrong. It's cool to hear from someone else out there that appreciates those old Saladin Petagno posters. "The Sorcerer" and "Time out in Time" where two classic black light posters that I use to own. Which two posters did you buy?
Question for anyone that knows...Is this the same artist named "Petagno" who also did black light poster art for a company called "Saladin Productions" back in the early 1970's or is that a totally different Petagno???
god I fucking wish he did the artwork on motorizer, that cover is horrible,,, it's a tragedy that they are not on working terms anymore... i REALLY hope the reconcile or the motorhead sleeve art will never be the same without him.
