Awesome video Al!! The body work on Scraps is coming along really nice, like you said a little bit a day gets it done, you had a very productive day for sure, thanks for sharing and thanks!! Lol!! Have a great weekend bud!!
Good day AL pulled my 396 out from my Camaro last eve, I used my Gantry that I built out from 2x 10s. It is a 2-ton chain hoist, I just have tall walls to lift the motor out, I did not have wheels on it yet, so I had to push the car about 6 feet, But what a game changer. I have my engine puller, but this is much easier. The motor does not rock from side to side or rock back and forth. Once I got it to my engine stand just lowered it to the mounts and now it is safe on the run engine stand ready for wash and degrease and paint and back into the Camaro where it needs to be. But before that I need to prep the fire wall and get that like it's going to prom. Then the Motor... Man life is fun
@@jonathanolsen7254 Those work so great! I used to pull the motors out and pull the engine away from the car but I’ve slowly learned to pull the car back from the motor and it’s a lot easier for me that way. Thank you for sharing and keep me posted on your Camaro. Have a great day 👍🏼AL
Hi AL scraps is really coming along . Nice job today and it’s always nice to see your son helping out Dad .. I wanted to tell you my 2 sons live far from me and it’s good to hear there doing well .. My oldest son went to college and he’s doing well and my other son is getting married next year… They grow up so fast AL and I went into the military right after high school cause I needed to be put on the right track if you know what I mean lol…. I put models together on my spare time and I have close to 30 models I did this year done… I haven’t done a 60s Camaro yet but I will soon .. I will keep watching you knock out things on SCRAPS .. Enough BABBLING AL and you take care please say HI to your son for me… Your friend Bob from Illinois…

Thanks for the video Al! I know you are trying to avoid a "can of worms", and yes, it is more work, but if you don't take the trim off around that vinyl top and address the rust underneath it will almost immediately spread to the new paint. You can't just tape off rust :) In fact, to do it right, the front and rear glass should be popped out and the vinyl top should come off all together. There's a ton of rust under there that needs to be addressed. These semi-original cars are becoming too rare to do a late 80's (technique and approach) refresh to. I know you are a flipper, but still. Just my humble opinion. My Grandfather always said, "if you aren't going to do it right, don't do it at all". A lost art of course :)
@@OttoBacker55 Hello, yes you’re right I’m going to take the trim off and clean up around edges. It was sitting since 1988 and just wanted to get it cleaned up and let the next person put a drivetrain in it and enjoy it but figured it would probably sit even more years, so I decided to get it up and running so someone will be able to enjoy it at a reasonable price. You definitely have to know when to stop peeling away the onion if not it becomes just another expensive restored camaro that a lot of people can’t afford. I’ve restored hundreds of these cars and see how few are out there that are affordable. There are a lot of people who ask me if I have a car that needs work that they can finish on they’re own and save money so that’s why I started building these types of cars. I do understand do it right or not at all, but that just makes another unaffordable car that the average person can’t afford. Thank you for your comment and for watching. Have a great day 👍🏼AL
