You know what, you deserve to be up there with the big boys. You are as hard as they come, and not goofy and flamboyant like Joe. I love Joe and respect his upcoming...but you're doing it big like it should be done. ❤ your dog is hard as rocks too, he deserves all the praise you do!

I haven’t watched this series yet. I have just pushed play. I found you through your later journeys. You are such a good story teller. You are my pandemic godsend. I really love Saku. What a great trail dog. I have one in training who is pretty special. She had a powerful lesson after tackling a porcupine at age one - after I yelled “no”. She now the most obedient German Shep I have ever had. Safe travels....

Can't help watching this first episode again (third time actually) cuz I always find more things to look at and enjoy.
Letting ole Saku rest for a day was a great decision. You're a good man Justin.....and Saku is lucky to be your trail buddy.
It's so bloody hot and humid where I am that I love watching "colder" trip vids. Cheers.

Absolutely fantastic! Oh, the Long Range Mountains. I spent 5 days backpacking across them many years ago, it was the trip of a life time. @@JustinBarbournlexplorer We went in at Western Brook Pond and came out at Fairy Gulch beside Gros Mourne mountain. It was a trip to remember, brutal at times but well worth the challenge! We were storm stayed for a night due to Hurricane Bill (think that was the name) which passed through while we were up there but survived! We had to stay at a campsite that we were not booked at because of the storm. We couldn't for the life of us find the tent pad so just found a patch of long grass which was flattened and hunkered down. I think it was a moose bed from the night before and was hoping that he or she wouldn't come back to claim it while we were borrowing the space! lol We did find the tent pad the next morning, it had been under water when we arrived there. lol Looking forward to your next episode!

Very well done, Barbour! Been waiting a long time to see the success that was your trip. My kids will be watching this with me. We often go for hikes to explore the ECT. It's important they learn that being outside is far better than being in. Although I am not a Newfoundlander, I've always been amazed at the beauty that is the landscape. Best part about it, it's all around us. Never need to go far to explore it. Cheers bro. You did great. Shout out to Saku too!

It only gets better from here... and yes Saku is a Cape Shore water dog, a local breed that over the years has been mixed with Lab and Chessie. Some say and I believe that the CSWD is the original Newfoundland dog before they began mating with Mastiffs.. there are some interesting articles to read and I actually wrote my own a year or so back. Joe put me on to you and glad he did. I am really enjoying the long vistas of the interior of Newfoundland. Sure is a big change from our central Ontario landscape. I loved Part One and looking forward to Part 2. Good luck to you and your sidekick.

Been looking forward to this series ever since you mentioned it in a previous winter camping vid. Fabulous work. Perfect for watching on a chill Friday night approaching a snow storm.

You my friend, are awesome. Loved the companionship, the footage, the attitude, the east coast accent and your smile of course. Keep it up, hope to see more of this kind of adventure.

Early thought.. Take a 2" branch and split in half, take the half and tie the sleigh ropes to each end. My thought is that the springiness of the split branch and the ability of maintaining the branch on your chest without having to use your hands may be useful... Keep it up...
