    The bigger question is... how do you live in 24 hours of darkness!? Especially during the winter!? Does it get depressing and difficult?

    • @alexismayle5690
      @alexismayle5690 6 лет назад +148

      SH ANNON suicide rates here in alaska are very high during winter. Me and my husband got here in November and with me not having a job and it only being light for a few hours a day I got really really emotional and sad.

    • @sleepybtchx
      @sleepybtchx 6 лет назад +64

      It's not 24 hours of complete darkness. But, however, we do get only a few hours of sunlight in the winter time.

    • @sleepybtchx
      @sleepybtchx 6 лет назад +13

      Also, for me personally, I don't really get that depressed here in the winter very often.

    When I was growing up. We had huge dinners with my great grandparents and grandparents every Sunday. Now that I'm 68 they are all gone now. So it's just me and my son. Went from about 40 relatives down too one. Wow!!! A huge difference.

    When I was growing up I always had family gatherings on my moms side. But it seems that since my grandmother passed when I was 17 everyone just kind of scattered to the wind and we haven’t had our whole family together since. But I have faith that it will change ❤️ in the mean time I enjoy watching my favorite family in Alaska.

    We live in northern Canada, all our bedrooms face west. We aren't quite land of midnight sun, it's dark from midnight to 3am. But it's light when we go to bed and when the kids go to bed. You get used to it. If you've ever napped during the day, you could fall asleep at night. Both our parents and siblings are within 15 minutes of us and we see them weekly at least. We go to my parents' farm on Saturdays to hang out and have supper.

    I see my mum nearly everyday and we phone each other twice a day! We phone my father in law everyday and see him about twice a week! My husband and I are both only children so our family is tiny! Our eldest daughter lives in the city and we text most days and FaceTime 2-3 times a week! We may be little but we are close! 🤗 My friends are in my heart but we may meet up every few weeks or months but when we do it’s like we have never left! It’s a good life with family and friends which I feel very blessed to have!❤️ Loving your channel! Love and blessings from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Jackie x

    We are on well water and have the same problem with the water turning brown after bad storms and earthquakes. We live in Oklahoma and have frequent earthquakes. It's a good idea to completely drain your hotwater heater, then let some water back in it and drain it again to clean it out.

    My family moved across the country to Washington State. I haven't seen my family in a little over two years. I just recently got out of Van Life and bought a class a motorhome. Our plans are to travel to the family farm in Tennessee, go to my home state Colorado, and meet my family in Yellowstone. We will be going to Banff in Canada. This has been a long road with illness and obstacles. I moved mountains with prayer and finally got the go ahead from my medical team to travel. So all in all I'm looking forward to actually getting a chance to visit my family.

    • @amyg.9203
      @amyg.9203 6 лет назад +153

      Carri's 3RingCircus yes! Lots of people are extremely depressed here. Alaska has some of the highest depression rates across the US, and interestingly enough, actually pays people every month for living in Alaska because of how depressing it can get. Every month citizens of Alaska get a check in the mail or in the direct deposit for living in Alaska!

    I'm Dutch living in the Netherlands in Western Europe and my parents are living on Aruba in the Caribbean,where my mother is from. My father and sisters are also Dutch.
    And to make matters worse one of my sisters lives in India since about 8 years.
    I wish I could see my family more often and when I see them it's really fun.
    I haven't seen my family for more than 10 years now so it's about time.
    I'm glad I have my own children now which I enjoy.
    And I love watching other people having fun with their families like you do.

    I have a lot of experience maintaining wells, and other kinda of water systems. I'm not sure if you have one, but your water colouring could be due to tannins in the water, potentially look into a tannin filter if you don't have luck with what you're currently doing.

    My first ever experience with the Midnight Sun was June of 2017. A few minutes before the Solstice, I arrived at the Arctic Circle. How's that for perfect timing. From that point on, it was 24 hours sunshine. Try driving at 10pm Alaska time (2am East coast time where I live) with the sun shining directly in your face on the Dalton Highway. I had to put down the sun visor. Made it to Coldfoot around 3am (Alaska time). Grabbed a few hours catnap at the Interagency parking lot.
    A few hours later had breakfast at the truck stop in Coldfoot before heading back OTR south to Fairbanks and tonight's Midnight Sun ballgame which was the intended purpose for the trip.
    Stopped again at the Arctic Circle. I'm glad I did too. The BLM was there handing out I crossed the Arctic Circle certificates. I got 2 - one for each direction.
    At the ballgame, the Goldpanners lost the game 4-2.
    After the ballgame, I was back OTR, this time to Canada and the Dempster Highway.
    Flying to Anchorage, driving the Parks Highway to Fairbanks, attending my first Midnight Sun game, driving to Yukon, Canada on the Dempster Highway to the Northwest Terrority border was the greatest adventure of my life.
    Coming back in June to finish the Dalton to Prudhoe Bay and polar bear dip into the Arctic Ocean and finish the Dempster Highway to Inuvik and the newly completed highway to Tukuyatok and a Canada dip into the Arctic Ocean.

    It’s really cool to see the extremes, I’m from and live in Costa Rica and since we are fairly close to the equator, our days are almost the exact same throughout the entire year. Pretty much 12 hours of direct sunlight and then 12 of total darkness. The northernmost place I’ve been to when it comes to the American continent is Glacier National Park in Montana, and in Europe it would be Germany. So haven’t experience midnight sun yet, but I would love to go to Alaska!

    When I was younger and my mom's side of the family was closer-knit we would get together all the time, a lot of times it was very spur of the moment. Now, we don't get along as well anymore so I don't see most of them and the others only on holidays. My dad's family is here about 45 minutes from me, but he lives out of state and my parents are divorced, so I see them very rarely.

    Most of my family is up north. I’m in Florida now. I see my sister in law and her hubby once a week - my relatives maybe once a year.

    This was so cool to watch! I just found your channel ☺️ my husband has always wanted to go to Alaska, I’m sure we will one day.
    To answer your question, we see my in laws at least once a week, for the most part and we try to have family dinner every other week. It’s my favorite, I love every time we all get together. 😊

    I live 4 hours from any of my family. Texas isn't as big as Alaska, but still very big! I don't see them as often as I should or would like, but I make due.

    Our family gets together very often. It was a lot more when we all lived in the same town, but we are a little more spread out!

    We live walking distance to some of our family but it is still challenging to get together for very long as our schedules are never in synch. My family is a long way away but we have lots of friends nearby so have plenty of people to share life with.

    Beautiful voice Jessica!! Also the girls are following along in your footsteps!💕
    Out of curiosity Bert, why do you go by that instead of Gilbert? I am married to a Gilbert as well and we have several nicknames for him! To answer your question we see our family at least two or three times a month since they moved 45 minutes away. Before that we saw them about once a week.
