You have permanently transformed Jervalin's channel with your challenge. I've been in his Twitch channel for a couple of years where we'd regularly have 50-100 viewers per stream. Yesterday we had 7,000 viewers. Even if only 10% of them long-term after this challenge, it's re-invigorated his channel's reach and popularity.

Halo 2 Legendary mode is notorious for being one of the most difficult throughout the series. Beating that with no skulls took me some weeks as a casual, I can’t imagine doing it deathless, let alone with all the skulls. This is literal torture

This is so devious, everyone will try to do this, its the way the human mind works, someone will try and someone will win, even with how difficult the challenge is someone will if this lasts long enough.
I wouldn't even contemplate attempting this unless the bounty was probably $75k minimum. Whoever eventually does complete this for $20k is going to be relieved and happy at first. However, after they think long and hard, they'll come to the realization that, when it's all said and done, they probably earned about $15 per hour during the challenge as a whole.
Serious question: would it be fine to turn off the Iron skull? The Iron skull only restarts the level when you die, but since the challenge requires players to not die once, it could save some time for players who run the OG Xbox version.

The reason the best runners are good streamers is because it's the only way you are not "wasting" dead runs. A silent gameplay-only stream that doesn't care about the stream itself means if you die 5 hours into a run, those hours are completely lost at no gain (bar "practice" at most). But if you are actively participating as streamer, you are growing your viewership; If you die in a stupid way 5 hours into a run you now have a funny clip that will spread around social media and grow your fanbase. For actual streamers like Jervalin, playing the game is already his job anyway, so it's a win-win even if a run dies.

I agree on everything up to the last sentence. Streaming isn't Jervalin's job at all. It's just what he does in his spare time, and Halo 2 is his favorite game of all time (Runescape a close second). He actually has recently been asked about throwing away his job as a mailman at the post office to go full time, and he said something along lines of "are you crazy?! No way am I gonna throw out my 401k retirement and medical benefits to go scream in front of a TV every day in front of a thousand people! I love my job, and I have a wife and kids. Fuck that!"

@@sinofcringe Yeah, but the same went for the rest of Halo 2 streamers and speedrunners (ChronosReturns, MisterMonopoli, Cryphon, Maxlew, etc). Reason he does this is also because he loves the game and wants to push challenge categories forward. The H2 speedrunning community is quite toxic in general. Until the bounty was placed for this challenge. People barely even PLAYED LASO! People joked about Jerv doing H2 deathless as just "oh ok, it's stupid. Who wants to do that." They stayed in their speedrunning bubble. Jerv loves the routing and finding new tricks and setups that he knows are exist but can't find himself. The community isn't pushing the game forward in this sense. He is. Moreover, he thinks he'd get burnt out from making streaming a lifestyle. When that happens, the hobbies you enjoy most start to lose their magic. Remember that not everyone is set out for the streamer lifestyle, just like not every one can go all out in music and touring. It's about passion. Like going to study at university, you don't say you're going to be a doctor when you hate the major subjects in undergrad. Jervalin is happy where he is. He is passionate about what he does in life. He has a good balance going out, interacting with people irl, being a father, being a husband, and he has his life in order. The content we get from him is a blessing, and we are thankful for it.
This challenge is utterly insane, I already struggled immensely beating Halo 2 legendary without ANY of the skulls on so I can only imagine how painful it must be for these runners. Godspeed to you all
As someone who did Cairo station LASO after an entire day and save scumming, I'd say if you haven't personally experienced it just imagine legendary difficulty but approximately 3 or 4 tiers worse if halo had 10 difficulty settings and legendary was number 4, LASO would be like a 7 or 8

As somebody whose been playing Halo all of my life and has known about how difficult halo 2 laso is, its so fun to see all these people who have no idea what theyre getting themselves into trying it thinking its not that hard. i, in no way, am able to even come close to doing this challenge but charlie bringing this up about a month ago finally gave me enough confidence to start my own halo 2 solo laso run so i can finally say i beat it. im currently on gravemind and i have died probably a hundred times before this level. and another 50 just in the first room of gravemind. i consider myself a pretty good halo player, obviously not as good as pros and speedrunners, but even im having a ton of trouble with slaso. shit is fucking brutal. good luck to anybody willing to seriously attempt this cuz god knows youll need it

For perspective, someone was able to do a no hit run of the dark souls trilogy all 3 games back to back to back without getting hit once before this challenge was completed and that’s with all the dark souls games being vastly newer than halo 2

You need to do more research, and add BloodBorne and Sekiro into your comment. And this Halo 2 challenge is absolutely NOT harder than doing that.
There's a key difference in the difficulty with the From Soft games and Halo. You NEED luck to win this Halo challenge because the AI never plays the same way twice and it's often impossible to kill enemies without rolling the dice on if you get hit in the process. From Soft games are designed to be hard, but fair, if you master the mechanics and enemy placements it basically boils down to a several hour QTE where you need perfect timing and execute every move flawlessly. An extremely hard challenge to be sure, but you're never going to have a From Soft enemy do something completely unpredictable like start shooting you in the back when you had no way of knowing that would happen nor being able to see the projectile before it hits you. Not to mention every run will be almost identical for the From Soft no hit challenges while you need to be a master of adaptability and still have very good luck to win the Halo challenge as it will always be different
Charlie has unironically done more revitalize peoples interest and love of Halo than 343 has done since the launch of Infinite. As a massive Halo fan it’s been great to see

Y'know what's crazy to think? Maybe someone HAS done this. But they did it before Twitch. I can only pray that person either doesn't exist or doesn't ever find out about this bounty, because I can only imagine how soul-crushing that would be.
While technically possible, I highly doubt it. The only people good enough at halo 2 to do this are people who make content or speedrun or whatever. They are community names. If you are as good as these people you post about your accomplishments. Jarvalin has been playing this game religiously since it came out. Not just on occasion like most people, religiously, I highly doubt anybody has been able to do already, because objectively, these are the best players in the world because this game had become their identity. The same can be said for the Olympics. No no-named hick from the country side is secretly the best high jumper in the world. Thats just not how it works. That'd a skill that if you only get that good at by doing it a lot, to the point where the only reason you would be doing it a lot is because it's your job. These are skills where the time it takes to get them to this level is only justified if it is your profession. Nobody did this on a whim when they got home from school.

Yesterday we had 7,000 viewers. Even if only 10% of them long-term after this challenge, it's re-invigorated his channel's reach and popularity.

Halo 2 Legendary mode is notorious for being one of the most difficult throughout the series. Beating that with no skulls took me some weeks as a casual, I can’t imagine doing it deathless, let alone with all the skulls. This is literal torture

I wouldn't even contemplate attempting this unless the bounty was probably $75k minimum. Whoever eventually does complete this for $20k is going to be relieved and happy at first. However, after they think long and hard, they'll come to the realization that, when it's all said and done, they probably earned about $15 per hour during the challenge as a whole.
Serious question: would it be fine to turn off the Iron skull? The Iron skull only restarts the level when you die, but since the challenge requires players to not die once, it could save some time for players who run the OG Xbox version.

The reason the best runners are good streamers is because it's the only way you are not "wasting" dead runs. A silent gameplay-only stream that doesn't care about the stream itself means if you die 5 hours into a run, those hours are completely lost at no gain (bar "practice" at most). But if you are actively participating as streamer, you are growing your viewership; If you die in a stupid way 5 hours into a run you now have a funny clip that will spread around social media and grow your fanbase. For actual streamers like Jervalin, playing the game is already his job anyway, so it's a win-win even if a run dies.

I agree on everything up to the last sentence. Streaming isn't Jervalin's job at all. It's just what he does in his spare time, and Halo 2 is his favorite game of all time (Runescape a close second). He actually has recently been asked about throwing away his job as a mailman at the post office to go full time, and he said something along lines of "are you crazy?! No way am I gonna throw out my 401k retirement and medical benefits to go scream in front of a TV every day in front of a thousand people! I love my job, and I have a wife and kids. Fuck that!"
Good point, but wasn’t he just a small casual streamer before this? He has a normal job so streaming definitely isn’t his day job. Although he might be able to make some good money off of it at this rate. After this vid today he had like 1.3k viewers. After the last vid he had like 300.
@@sinofcringe Yeah, but the same went for the rest of Halo 2 streamers and speedrunners (ChronosReturns, MisterMonopoli, Cryphon, Maxlew, etc). Reason he does this is also because he loves the game and wants to push challenge categories forward. The H2 speedrunning community is quite toxic in general. Until the bounty was placed for this challenge. People barely even PLAYED LASO! People joked about Jerv doing H2 deathless as just "oh ok, it's stupid. Who wants to do that." They stayed in their speedrunning bubble.
Jerv loves the routing and finding new tricks and setups that he knows are exist but can't find himself. The community isn't pushing the game forward in this sense. He is. Moreover, he thinks he'd get burnt out from making streaming a lifestyle. When that happens, the hobbies you enjoy most start to lose their magic.
Remember that not everyone is set out for the streamer lifestyle, just like not every one can go all out in music and touring. It's about passion. Like going to study at university, you don't say you're going to be a doctor when you hate the major subjects in undergrad. Jervalin is happy where he is. He is passionate about what he does in life. He has a good balance going out, interacting with people irl, being a father, being a husband, and he has his life in order. The content we get from him is a blessing, and we are thankful for it.
Not sure. I think that an easy-going attitude allows these people to be persistent at the runs and be an entertaining streamer at the same time.
This challenge is utterly insane, I already struggled immensely beating Halo 2 legendary without ANY of the skulls on so I can only imagine how painful it must be for these runners. Godspeed to you all
As someone who did Cairo station LASO after an entire day and save scumming, I'd say if you haven't personally experienced it just imagine legendary difficulty but approximately 3 or 4 tiers worse
if halo had 10 difficulty settings and legendary was number 4, LASO would be like a 7 or 8

This is all Memorization but there is so many variables to consider, since in some locations of the Game The enemy AI will take different Paths or will move when Spawned or stay still, it all falls down to Luck, timing and Memorizing each level individually first. before you try it all in one sit in.

As somebody whose been playing Halo all of my life and has known about how difficult halo 2 laso is, its so fun to see all these people who have no idea what theyre getting themselves into trying it thinking its not that hard.
i, in no way, am able to even come close to doing this challenge but charlie bringing this up about a month ago finally gave me enough confidence to start my own halo 2 solo laso run so i can finally say i beat it. im currently on gravemind and i have died probably a hundred times before this level. and another 50 just in the first room of gravemind. i consider myself a pretty good halo player, obviously not as good as pros and speedrunners, but even im having a ton of trouble with slaso. shit is fucking brutal. good luck to anybody willing to seriously attempt this cuz god knows youll need it

Goodness, the mad lad Jervalin did it, he actually conquered Halo 2 deathless!
For perspective, someone was able to do a no hit run of the dark souls trilogy all 3 games back to back to back without getting hit once before this challenge was completed and that’s with all the dark souls games being vastly newer than halo 2

So this Halo challenge is nothing in the grand picture of things.
You need to do more research, and add BloodBorne and Sekiro into your comment.
And this Halo 2 challenge is absolutely NOT harder than doing that.
There's a key difference in the difficulty with the From Soft games and Halo. You NEED luck to win this Halo challenge because the AI never plays the same way twice and it's often impossible to kill enemies without rolling the dice on if you get hit in the process. From Soft games are designed to be hard, but fair, if you master the mechanics and enemy placements it basically boils down to a several hour QTE where you need perfect timing and execute every move flawlessly. An extremely hard challenge to be sure, but you're never going to have a From Soft enemy do something completely unpredictable like start shooting you in the back when you had no way of knowing that would happen nor being able to see the projectile before it hits you. Not to mention every run will be almost identical for the From Soft no hit challenges while you need to be a master of adaptability and still have very good luck to win the Halo challenge as it will always be different
Charlie has unironically done more revitalize peoples interest and love of Halo than 343 has done since the launch of Infinite. As a massive Halo fan it’s been great to see

This challenge honestly reminds me of something that old Halo would do. Obviously not with the money prize but the community for this takes me back to when I would see my brother try and get armor in Halo 3. Obviously this is harder but its been fun seeing positivity with Halo community. So thanks for opening the box Moist!

While technically possible, I highly doubt it. The only people good enough at halo 2 to do this are people who make content or speedrun or whatever. They are community names. If you are as good as these people you post about your accomplishments. Jarvalin has been playing this game religiously since it came out. Not just on occasion like most people, religiously, I highly doubt anybody has been able to do already, because objectively, these are the best players in the world because this game had become their identity. The same can be said for the Olympics. No no-named hick from the country side is secretly the best high jumper in the world. Thats just not how it works. That'd a skill that if you only get that good at by doing it a lot, to the point where the only reason you would be doing it a lot is because it's your job. These are skills where the time it takes to get them to this level is only justified if it is your profession. Nobody did this on a whim when they got home from school.
Imagine somebody beating in and then Charlie reveals that he already did it two years ago and has just been sitting on the footage.
