You gave some incredible insight. I just got mine today from Scheels and I couldn't be happier. When you mentioned never have the spring fail on you, that pretty much sold me. And I'm one who doesn't have what they call "mechanical sympathy" - in other words, I love seeing battle scars on my knives, Leathermans, you name it. As you said; "Just go use your shit." Hah! I love that. You live once, so use your cool f--king tools to the max, right? Cheers :)
My mini is like the second one you show with a bright blade and gray scales It fits perfectly alongside my wallet in my back pocket and I never feel it It’s durable as you say bc after two years the scales show no wear and all it takes to sharpen if I stay on it is a few strokes on the Lansky Box and the strop I love everything about it but it’s size It could be a half in longer and would be perfect However the 2.9” makes it legal almost everywhere Thanks for putting up with me Erica ❤
Erica, thanks for this great review of the Mini-Griptilian! Though I'm generally a G10 guy, I ordered a "base model" and look forward to seeing how it compares to other EDC's from the likes of Civivi, Hogue and Spyderco. It'll be my first Benchmade!
Yup! I carry mine everyday! I don’t have any fancy clip on it, but I did put a Bugout clip on it. Yeah what can I say it’s an amazing knife! I’ve got 3 of them.
Thank you Erica, I have one of these coming to me today, I couldn’t resist the 112.00 price from GovX, never had a premium knife just cheapies, really excited!
Just got one and I have much more expensive knives .wow did t know how much I would like this but I love it. Goldilocks edc, the fit and finish is amazing benchmade stepping it up these days love it. Love it's heft for size ratio love the feel of the grn, like a glitch k frame not cheap feeling. Very happy with it
The coating on her 555 is factory, and so are the OD scales. Unfortunately, as most people gravitate more to the Bugout in recent years, the variations offered on all Griptilians have been drastically paired back, and no longer offered in the Custom Shop either. To get the really cool Grips, you have to find on the secondary market.
The only problem I have with these FRN scales is when you use operate the knife the scales amplifies the click and movement sounds of the blade. My Griptilians I find micarta scales and replace the originals.

Wow! the Patina on that M4 Grip. That's beautiful. Like a well used tool. Hope you still have that one!
Carried the mini in 154cm for years at work. Got it in 2014 and still going good 👍🏽
Oh yeah they last forever! Yours for life is Benchmade’s motto
Still carry my mini grip in 154cm. Benchmade spa service last year freshened it up and added a deep carry clip to my 555.

Griptilian is actually my favorite bench made but i have haven't messed with the mini might have to look at them now
Hi this was the first Benchmade knife I bought. Still love it, I did put a CF set of scales on one of them.
Sweet!
This knife is iconic as balls
Just got that DLT exclusive in S90V. First benchmade curious to try it.
Such an in depth and well thought out review! 👍🏼
Nice review . Where did you get the coating done on the sheepsfoot blade ?

Have you tried the Ritter Hogue? I do find it to be a step up after you sand the scales.
Very good review 👍🏼
Hello, are those scales dyed?
@@MacD2029 cerakote
@@ericasedc awesome! Does that not affect the reassembly in anyway with the added material?
@@MacD2029 you don’t cerakote where any parts go. (:
FRN scales? At this price? Not a chance

I used to think that. Then, I felt a mini bugout handle and it was perfectly fine. She took the added step to cerakote the plastic to change the feel.
You really need to get a grip
SPRING ASSISTED ????
Nope
Can't believe they are discontinuing the griptilian and mini griptilian. 🤬
is this official news?
They didn’t discontinue them
