Sorry my audio was crap on this, because I was way too close to the mic :(
I think your audio is ok, thanks for the video
Either get a better mic or stop talking directly in to the mic itself, most good mics will usually pick ur voices 10x better if you just speak over it instead them directly aiming ur mouth at them.
But thx for the vid
I was going to comment on that too >
Webtoon is just killing it lately with the popularity
I only see it killing itself and it's creators. They serialize too many series, then cancel them over missing views. The money they pay is not enough, the workload not manageable and their entire team shows signs of stand-up business. They lack connections, skilled employees and an overall sense of how to grow their platform. They anger their readerbase with useless monetarization projects that only damage their creators even more and ignore criticism of any sort. The only way they'll achieve growth would be if they're bought by a bigger and more experienced business but I can already tell that this will probably be even more devastating towards creators and readers since they'll want to make their money back, fast.
@@LaNoir. damn. And I was just about to make a webtoon to see how it goes.. I still may risk it..
@@soramirez5473same, i might submit on Lezhin (cuz its a mature comic) next year, lets try for experience hehe
@@soramirez5473you can still make your webtoon, just try not putting all of your eggs in one basket. Webtoon is good for publicity and marketing, but there are other ways to publish still.
Do research on webtoons, especially when compared to manga. I don't think it is as great of a format when compared to manga's more detailed and story driven panels. Your not appreciating it as much. Especially when webtoons might be made entirely by AI soon.
Been taking my manga hobby more seriously these past two years and this video just came at a perfect time. Thank you brandon!
Pretty much agree. In my opinion, as someone who did both and decided on one at the end, technically, webtoon is easier to make. I chose webtoon format not because "easier" though but because the build up of tension is more surprising in a vertical reading format. The first time that reading format impressed me was that viral horror webtoon, with the girl walking at night in the park and a ghost lady running towards you (through HTML5 effect). I was so sucked in in just a couple of second, that left a lasting impression on me.
whats the name?
I love how you talk about the business side of Manga and Webtoon. You’re the first one that I’ve seen that talks in greater detail about them. Thank you very much and I love your content! 😄❤
3d background assets are more common in manga these days. Inio Asano for example is a big advocate for it. No shame in shortcuts
I just wanna say, when you broke down your action scenes in your Manwha, it made me really appreciate others work more 👍
Without passion & discipline there's no way anyone can do this, well done
love your stuff. Would love to see how you schedule your days and manage time
Always good stuff , questions as a manga artist how do you plan your story arcs ? How long does it usually take you the draft process?
Great video, yes business side of this profession is important to review. Instant subscribe.
Great work!
Dude, your manga is amazing O_O
I've been storying board my comic for 2 years and haven't drawn one chapter and I gotta its frustrating but man I know one day ill get it done hopefully before I'm dust lol, great video
If I become dust, I'll draw with my ashes. They can't take away the air I breathe
the return of the king
I always feel guilty for waking up at 10-12 pm and sleeping after 2 am so it's the first time I see someone successful who's sleeping the same way! Maan I feel more motivated now 🔥
Yeah same
Great video, I am dying😊.
Thanks!
So would love a collab with your artists as i draw and write and would love to hear their day on the life and keeping with deadlines
Would love to see that and take notes
Hello, Brandon. I’m Sean. I would like to become a manga artist like you. When I saw your videos were amazing. So in fact, I’m 26 years old man and I’m young. I know the beginning I remember drawing anything about 13 years since I went to school but I feel like I have forgotten. I want to learn drawing manga from the start.
Quick Video Idea : Analysis Video On the First Mahnwa Art Style Solo Leveling
Can you make a video detailing your novelist career? I know you did a few shorts on it
Hi Brandon! Why are you taking on so many projects at once? How to you keep things interesting and organized?
How do you also have time to film and edit videos?! Like how do you have all this time 😭 I’ve been drawing for four days straight and I can’t even think about “content creation”
How did you find the artist for your manga???? Because I am done with my manga (except for storyboarding) and I need a way to find a artist.
0:30 Burnout any% speedrun
I work on my manga after work and my days off.
People tends to be more forgiving (and have lower standard) towards webtoon. I've read many webtoon that use exactly same 3d models for the mansion/castle where the MC lives (so it was shown multiple times), using "wrong" 3d models (like AK47 and diesel trains shows up in flintlock and sail boat era), very stiff anatomy drawing (tracing or even directly use ready-made 3d models). They are so obvious that you don't have to actually trying to find it.
And all of these, happened in webtoons that have more than 100 chapters... so they are obviously popular enough... Actually, some of the most popular webtoons (and I know one of them is being made into Japanese animation series) also did this...
People let this slide because it's webtoon. But this... definitely won't fly in manga..
Wish I didn’t love lifting, since sleep and food is such a priority. So much Art time takes a blow
How do you take care of your health and especially eye health in this schedule?
I just wanna say... thankyou
1:40 nice jg🙂
The thing is we jsut want thing done quick. Said the actual webtoon take a year to planned and actually putting out product is the thing that people don’t want to do it
How many episodes should i write on Light novel volume 1
Killer content
Gojo is there and gojo is feeling Split 😔
10:00 biggest reason why I stopped reading manga.
I find myself gliding over the panels, and end up mostly reading the text and glancing at the images.
I realized that I can't enjoy it as much as I can with anime.
That's why I think that's the biggest weakness of manga/webtoons. You spend a lot of time making art that people don't spend enough time enjoying.
It is so hard to decide between making a manga or a webtoon. How do you decide what you want to do?
like someone has already said choose the one you like more and if you like it equally choose the one that burn you out the least and is more fun to do
Yo, how does a noobie create a story with a theme that satirizes school life and explores the layers of adolescent life?
surely you can put down the gain on that mic
Can you go more in depth on what you mean by serializations being crap? I’ve seen some webtoons, like you mentioned, are drawn very simply. Possibly they have great stories but the art level is not there. Is that still considered crap? I’m alway terrified of the art community more than editors.
i want to make a manga
but cant make stories
how to find a writer
Do u think starting from novel is good way because I have no money to hire an artist and that I will also maybe get good at making stories and is webnovel good site for it or other for payment so i could hire an artist.
Same question
You can make a Light novel, which only have a few illustrations every few pages in a single volume.
The rest are walls of text, with very fine details of the characters, setting and laws of physics of the world the story takes place in .
Webnovels are great! If it gets popular and gets picked up by a publishing company maybe itll get its own webtoon.
@@iasked9392 to make more money they say U nees to have Exclusive contract.
Um Is your podcast on Spotify if so what’s it called?
Mangaka Education!
I didn’t know that Japanese publishers let in international manga onto their magazines?
Its possible through certain contests like the tezuka
@@mincy1368 What other kinds of contests are out there ? I cant find this tezuka contest you speak of
Oh yes, definitely. Eudetenis is one of the groups of the international creators I know who won the COAMIX Silent Manga Audition. There's also the Kyoto International Manga contest, Japan International Manga Award, and Shibuya International Manga Contest, + many more. The one they're referring to is The Tezuka Manga Award, which is hosted by Shonen Jump.
webtoons deserve it because the quality
Reader: drawimg is easy, stop complaining.
Reader tries to draw: ok, its a bit harder than i thought..
Artist: drawing is too damn hard, there gotta be an easier way.
Pro artist: i am dead...
The anime industry probably should go on strike though they don't pay their animators anything. They're making minimum wage and they're putting up with it because Japanese culture is like you can never speak up about anything they think it's like complaining. And if nobody animates they'll be forced to like pay them more or there won't be any more anime
That’s why unions are weaker in Japan than any of its neighbors (which aren’t all that much better).
@@Dave102693 yeah like imagine if they pay minimum wage to animators in North America lol they be no animation they would just outsource it to Japan.
nobody would want to be an animator here if they pay you that. Their taking advantage of people because they know these people really love to draw so they'll do it for whatever price. But also it's not a good to do something that you like for nothing because then you're showing that you don't value your time or effort or worth as a person. But they are taught to stay quiet in their society so you can't really blame them.
@@williammclean6594honestly, i think it needs a whole “revolution” in a way. Japanese society has been making SOME progress, but it’s still very much a toxically group > individual thing .
What do you think why they pay animators now to train their AI's. They'll never pay them more, they're going to replace them entirely.
@@LaNoir. not a good thing
It's lonely as hell and all mu friends who said they work as my assistants baled I can finish scripts, story boards, and rough drafts, pretty quick but my artist's pride makes the final drafts take forever putting every last detail into each panel, inking is fast, same with filling in blacks and grays in all it takes a little over 2 weeks of straight if I don't include sleep for 20 pages not healthy at all but If I'm gonna get into jump it's a sacrifice I need to make
i'm actually surprised that manga popularity grows. Wasn't manga popular before?
Not as mainstream as now.
Anime and manga were considered cringe before but now they're mainstream for some reason
@@mouhiazeck because celebs and influencer they worship like to watch them so. So tolerance is rising because of mob mentality. This applies to all media
@@vijaz5559 programming sheeps
@@vijaz5559 it's just that the cringe kids from back then are now adults working in the industry. That's how generations adapt new stuff into our culture, by getting older, more influential and passing it on to their children
"No one uses 3d assests for backgrounds in manga"
*has flashbacks to Gantz*
But im being picky lol good video, just found you.
Eh plenty do but compared to webtoons where nearly everyone uses 3d, its a lot less common
Do you work alone about story line or you ask someone for idea
Do webtoons HAVE to be colored?
Maybe you should treat yourself like a restaurant and take a day off on Mondays. Maybe begin by taking every other Monday off. I only say this because a day of rest, even at your young age, shouldn't be underestimated. ¡Exito te deseo!
What. league of legends with a controller?
No Brandon. You do take weekends off. Those are just the stuff you decide to spend on your off days. That's normal. It's like when ppl go harder in the gym and hitting their personal records on weekends, working on hobbies and passion projects.
Some ppl are flat out more productive on the weekends where it's just themselves and their goals.
Idk i write every day tho but ya sat / Sun are the only days i don’t take calls which is something!
I respect your commitment, hard work and effort that you put for your multiple projects, something that I would never even dare to try. However I didn’t find none of your works to be of high quality products. They’re okay at best and not memorable enough. I’m currently working on one comic project and I was lucky enough to find the right artist and oh boy it’s going to look damn impressive. I don’t want to brag about it but it has the potential to be the next Berserk. Took me many years to develop that story. I see some RUclipsrs with okay and crappy mangas and I said to myself if their stories can gain a fanbase, mine can do it as well.
How much you make now
Enough to keep doing this and not want to go back to tech / finance ;)
i wish japan would have just made their own global site for manga and anime similiar to netflix, so that all the revenue will go to the original animator and mangaka instead of netflix and crunchyroll making money from that with thier horrible translations of the names and subs in general lol
I don’t know wtf you be watching but Jojo sub is top tier
Paying artist $400/month for a webtoon is a crime
Don't you think Netflix needed money to watch
The microphone is a bit too close to peaking no? Just turning it down just a bit would be perfect
it is :(
@@inspired.authorwow
Have you written novels before?
This is why i have my own original artstyle, Anime and Manga style bores me so much I'm literally sick of it.
In Anime, every fking main character these days looks like Shinji Akari.
😭😭😭😭
Bro 💀 do you actually sleep 💤💤💤💤😴
is not hard :v i do comics all day and my webcomic sketchy black and white on my ipad pro, that way i do my stuff without the boring part (doing backgrounds and colouring FUKING BORING)
this is the worst audio ive heard since the early days of youtube its clipping 100% of the time
you always word it as if you draw the work yourself, its annoying
I don’t word it that way, I’ve never once said it’s all me. I always say teammates and team :)

As a writer who wants to start a WEBTOON . How would I go about even starting one when I don’t have any artistic skills ? 🥹
You could learn to draw a simple art style if you want, or partner with an artist
I think hiring an artist is crazy expensive though, and sometimes bad art ruins a story and something you don't want to happen to your story
Hey, what is the plot of your story?
You can ask one of your artist friends to help
