Thanks for this series. I'm tearing down a '51 JD "B" With my son... Sat for 10 years and, unfortunately, has a rusty cylinder. Getting it bored and honed in December... Wish me luck!
I am in the process of a total rebuild 1940 B and I had to make some drivers (I have a lathe) for replacing all the trans bearings. I torched all the originals as they were all shot. Some I made of tubing some were solid shaft. Three pound hammer they all went in no problem. I had to get a couple of the snap rings as two of mine were broken. Going into the rear axles next for total bearing replacement as well.
Nice, not sure where you are located or if you need it, but I have an uncut hood and a fairly nice gas tank for a 39-40 B. Good luck with your restoration. Thanks for watching. If you have any questions feel free to reach out
I know this video is over a year old but I am working on a 52 B transmission and was wondering about the 1st 3rd and reverse fork being a 2 piece. It has a floating piece in the middle and was wondering If there is supposed to be a spring in it to control the side to side movement? My manual or parts book doesn’t show anything but it looks to have a recess hole where something may have been
I guess I'm confused. How is that fork two piece? In the parts manual it shows it as #9, AB3959R. It says it's the same from SN 201000 (mid 1947) on, so they should all be the same like what is shown in the diagram. Am I not understanding something? To answer your question though, the only springs I remember worrying about are for the pawls.
@@Powerbombpodcast interesting. That number isn't listed in the parts list for a B (or the index in the back of the B parts book). I looked it up online and it looks like it is for a 520 or 530. Someone might have back-fit it. You may want to look at one of those parts books to see if there is a spring or anything else.

Another informative video Dan, thanks
