It doesn't cost anything to be tolerant and helpful to other motorists and helps keep the traffic flow. An important habit I have is keeping junctions clear when in a queue. Lamb Shanks and lamb cutlets are superb with lashings of Colman's mint sauce. Personally I think you and your family have adapted extremely well to our British way of life. I for one will be sad to see you leave, your tours of the UK are wonderful.

I have loved to embrace the laid-back lifestyle. It truly helps the flow of traffic when everybody is aware of everybody else and follows the law. It will be a sad day when we have to leave, thankfully that won't be for a while!! Cheers 🤍 Jess x

Back in the 90s when I visited the States I was a bit disappointed at the international news coverage on tv, so I bought a shortwave radio and listened to the BBC World Service news. I was pretty surprised to eventually find that PBS radio stations in some cities in the USA used to rebroadcast the BBC World News and apparently some still do so.

Saying "you know" is more refreshing than repeating the word "like"! And being polite and giving way in traffic only costs a few seconds at most! I think you need to look again at ticket prices, I understand that it is usually about £400 pounds to fly to the US!

if you get the chance go to an indian restaurant, they do lots of lamb curry dishes, ranging from very mild to burn your bum off, the waiters are usually pretty good, just ask them how hot it is, they will always give a good assement on the degrees of heat for that dish.

If you are looking at inexpensive flights to the USA, try flying to a popular destination in the states such as Orlando and then just hop on an internal flight to your chosen destination. It will be half the cost of a direct flight to say Atlanta. The major airlines are guilty profiteering when people fly not so popular routes.

Hi Jess. I’ve not commented for a good while because my subscription mysteriously disappeared, and you were no longer in my feed - I’d wondered if you’d returned home for some reason! 🤷‍♂️
But you’re looking great as ever, and I’m delighted that you’re still enjoying your time here.
I’m completely baffled why you’ve not been able to get a full time job here. I’m honestly shocked! You’re so capable in everything I’ve seen you attempt, with loads of enthusiasm, demonstrable skills, immaculately presented and with a happy face. 😊 Prospective employers must be nuts in your vicinity, I know that in the south east you’d be snapped up.
But you seem very happy and busy, which is great, and have found a passion for lamb 🐑! It’s my favourite meat, I cook shoulder and leg joints slowly, with garlic and rosemary, and then serve it with the essential mint sauce that takes it to the next level. 😋
You should preach the quality of this delicious meat when you eventually return home, as it appears that it’s not commonly enjoyed in the U.S for some reason.
Well the food talk has me salivating, so it’s time to start thinking about dinner.
Wishing you all well, from Sussex by the sea. x

Flights on the major carriers return Economy are nowhere near £2k, more around £400 to places like NY or LA. You could always take the Eurostar to Amsterdam Schiphol as some services could be cheaper from there. Not sure where you want to go, but if you took say a flight London to NY, then caught an internal flight to your home, that would probably be the most economical way.

Well Daydreamer, nice to hear all those pluses for the UK. I've been to the USA many times and I have many American friends. Americans generally are nice folks and always ready to help. America itself is huge and a beautiful country but has a tendency to be inward looking. It would be so much better if Americans travelled far more outside their own country. Your media only concerns itself with American news and totally forgets the outside world unless its a war or something. Any how, have a great time, try a quick visit to Europe via the Eurostar Train, its easy and quick. Leave early enough and spend the day in Paris! Nice video.

The BBC does 'dive deep' regarding the USA news. Every evening from 21.00hrs it does a mix with US guest contributors invited to add depth to everyday news items from both countries. I think that this was a tactical response following our unfortunate exit from Europe. Obviously it still covers major events in Europe. Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

The news thing goes both ways. We had nearly 24/7 coverage after 9/11, but that was HUGE news. I imagine the States got a huge amount of coverage after the Ariana Grande concert bombing in Manchester. Unless it's something that affects all of us, neither will generally report on it. I read papers that have UK and American specific sections, and although we do get a lot of American news, some bloke called Bill in Oklahoma growing a 25kg Onion won't really make international news. I wish it would, just because it's quirky and amusing, but we don't tend to see eachother's news unless it's really serious, or politics.

Kind of weird comment. Virtually all YT channels have adverts unless you pay monthly to have them removed (with the temptation of a free first month). I simply mute each advert when it appears. Robert, uk.

@@Jill-mh2wn na after refreshing 2/3 times you can get 5 seconds of ads, I’m fine with 5-11 seconds but not 25-35 after many refreshers, uploaders of videos can choose to have adverts or not. This lady on this video has chosen the longer adverts for monetary gain

It’s interesting to hear a non-English person’s perception of the royals. Since Elizardbeth was put into a hole in the ground, support is dropping fast.

The fact is that you need something non-political to get behind when trouble hits. For America,it's the flag. The American flag doesn't generate cash, royalty does. No need for pomp and ceremony without them and that brings in cash.

I don’t agree at all. The King & Queen are doing a great job (look at the polls) and the royals stock is definitely going up! The King is undergoing cancer treatment so he’s working remotely so kicking a man when he’s down isn’t kind or decent. Your use of the really nasty phrase with regard to the late Queen being ‘put in a hole’ tells us everything we need to know. Try to be a better human being and appreciate the life of selfless service the royals do so well.

The Royal family are a figurehead, something British, they do a lot of goodwill work and have diplomatic function. I was really surprised how sad I felt when the Queen died. I think most people are looking forward to William and Kate being King and Queen - the King is a decent person too ! I wouldn't like to be a royal, personal freedom would be too limited.

@@nickrider5220 Agreed, but to say that they are just ‘figureheads’ is to belittle the enormous amount of work they do. How many people would like to spend their entire lives doing, among other things, a mass of office work every single day (including the weekends) of the year with no let up until the day they die? Not many. I think we are extremely fortunate to have a sovereign as our Head of State as they are born to a position of service, therefore have no ambition to get it. Far, far better than a greedy and ambitious politician (and we all know what we think of them!).

@@robertknight2556 Thanks Rob….appreciated. Guessing you haven’t spoken to too many Americans to spot the difference. The Australians are the same, who have their own version of English, but claim it is English. As an Englishman, you know it isn’t. But there you go. As mentioned, it was purely a tongue in cheek comment, but we live in a time where people like to take offense when there is none intended. Have a good day.

@@DaydreamersBarn Thanks Jess. I will watch your North Wales travels later with a cup of tea. As you know, being ex RAF, we have lived all around the country and lived in North Wales during one posting. Slightly more hilly than here, around the Lakenheath and Mildenhall area. Good to see you are travelling further afield. You guys MUST try the Lake District too…a beautiful area and recommended. 👍🏻
