Thanks! You found me!
MUY MUUY BUENO
So good my friend. I loved it.
Thanks man.. Really dope.
No problem!
It doesn't work and this is why. I'm no expert but when you create a mesh light there is a "NORMALIZE" checked box in the attribute editor. It must be UNCHECKED in order for the light to work.
Thanks for telling this, I was facing this issue
thanks for the tutorial bro that was very helpful
thanks man it was really helpful keep up the good work buddy we need you hahhaa
thx , great tut
Cool, thanksss
Hi there, Thanks for the tutorial. It was easy to follow and fun.
I was wondering why an Arnold standard surface shader with emission won't react with the atmosphere volume but the lights will?
I have a spaceship model with lots of little 'light' shaders on it that are set as emissive with the intensity at about 10. I want a soft volumetric glow around them, but the atmosphere volume doesn't seem to affect any of them. Any ideas for workarounds, or do you think this will only work with lights?
There may be a work around, however I have not found one yet
@@AlHowell I found out from a warning in Maya after posting this question, that Arnold skydome lights (and Arnold light in general) don’t work with atmosphere volume, which was news to me.
Hi! what if you want to give volume to only one of these lights? What do you do in this case?
Select the particular light (object), at the Light Attribute --> Visibility --> Volume = 0, that will solve the issue
This was really good! What shoul I do if i wanna recreata like a cyberpunk /japaneses signal light style? thanks!
Everything in this video would be great to get you started on that style
i'm trying to make a thunderbolt in maya with a short glow around it. the atmosphere with the mesh light work for a glow, but it's a big one, and i don't know oh to keep a strong glow but in a shorter range. Do you know if there is a parameter for that ?
Honestly, my first thought is to get it close and find a solution in Post (photoshop, after effects etc)
When I add emission to my material ... it does not glow ... do you have any extra setting ?
I found out why, My scene is so big I LITERALLY need to crank the Internsity to the billions
(don't let the max of 10 fool you, you can put in any number you want)
Never touch the intensity
Play with the exposure
This is inaccurate.
"You can get the same output by modifying either the intensity or the exposure. For example, intensity=1, exposure=4 is the same as intensity=16, exposure=0. Note: 2 0 = 1, not 0.
If you are not used to working with exposure in the lights, you can simply leave the exposure parameter at its default value of 0 (since 2 0 = 1, the formula then simplifies to: color * intensity * 1)."

Volumetric light is not showing up
I'm sorry you are having issues. It shows up for me in Maya 2022 or 2023
im using 2022 cant drag material to the object
Make sure you middle mouse click and drag the material. You can also select your object, then hold right click on the material and select assign material to selection
