Haha, cheers Mr. RBB! 🙏 It may please you to learn that she has a whole set of them that get pressed regularly: Attention, Walkies, Jacket, Food, Cuddles, Play, Water 🥰
Thanks for answering teh questions. Would love to see you do another one of these QnA. But I'd love to see you do a glow paper mod just like you did with the digimon
14:16 if you put different colour behind polarisers - after you peeled the reflective sticker - it will be pretty dark, unless you add a lensing or diffuser layer in front of it and a proper mirror one behind it. if you don't add a diffusion - it will stick to the LCD and made it look very glossy which is making it harder to read. any colour filter will always reduce the light so it will be darker and harder to see in low light conditions. Also when doing this be aware of ESD (static can damage LCD or Chip ) I suggest if anyone wants to try this buy a clone watch first to begin with :) When it comes to Led colours, different ones run on different voltages, as this watches use green LED you can use White or Blue ones, but pink, red and orange will need different resistor installed :)
Amazing! 🤯 Thank you so much for weighing in to share your extensive knowledge, and tips! 🙏 Hmmm, I was wondering - why would one decide to peel off the reflective sticker on the back of the LCD? But I think I follow you. So you could (carefully) peel off this layer to make visible the paper behind it? Does this mean if I wanted to do the glow paper in the back of the CA53W, I should peel off the silver from the LCD first? And it sounds like a white LED light (like I installed in the Digimon) would work with the voltage. 👌
4:30 actually adding a backlight properly, so with a little circuit that keeps it on for a bit will be very tricky in such a module. The best approach would be to ad an LED with resistor which is permanently connected to the positive side of the battery. Then the negative can be run to a springy contact point that gets touched by the one side pusher, possibly just that so you have to hold it to keep the light. By having this engage earlier than the original mechanism, you can use it as a two-stage button, letting you enable the light without activating the function. Or you can pick up a DataBank watch, which already comes with a proper backlight. 19:52 You are severely underestimating the fight with the original glue and finding suitable replacement polarisers and colour filters. It's a fun project though, and neat once pulled off despite looking worse than factory. Without adding a mirror you can even add custom background prints, at the cost of half the brightness and poor contrast. 27:14 I can answer both with my GBX-100 hydro-mod. The oil destroyed the screen, but the repair turned out absolutely epic. This all is covered in your videos on it.
This is an amazing idea for the backlight implementation! Thank you. 👌 It sounds daunting!… But would be more fun than just buying the Databank model for the backlight 😜 You know how it is! Oh man… maybe it isn’t as easy as I’d thought 😅 Yes, these are great examples! Perfect - Thanks for weighing in and sharing your experience, RedWyvern! 🙏
Thanks for the video. The B640 is really full of functions for a little price... And wonderful with an hydromod. I agree about the GW-B5600, this is the best module by far. I also agree with the A700, but the A1000 is really nice.
No problem, Renaud! 🙏 It is a functional little watch 👌 Hydromod would be super cool too! 🤩 Awesome - Yeah and you know what? I am even more excited about the GW-B5000 series, which is the same functionality, but with slightly larger buttons which are easier to press 👀 Oh yes... The A1000 is truly spectacular 🤩
NO WAY! You answered my question! That's such a cool trick, thanks man. I just did it and it works like a charm! Also, you absolutely should do a series where you address short comings with Casios.
Haha, no problem my man! 👌 I almost couldn't believe that I had just learned that solution recently myself. Thanks for the feedback! 🙏 I'll keep it in mind, and see what I can come up with 🤔
Hi, Larry from 3dprintertime, maker of the light spreader here. Great video! I can answer Question 15: whether placing coloured paper would make a difference. The answer is yes, you will see everything on the sheet of paper as illuminated by the LED. You can put graphics, and I've had an Australian customer put calligraphy on the tiny piece of paper! Different colours will show up, but again, they will be illuminated by the green LED so they may not look anything other than shades of green. If the LED is replaced with a white or blue LED, colours will show up, and fluorescent paper will glow fluorescent as well which is an excellent way to achieve colours not available as LEDs.
Also. A blue LED soldered in place of the default green one WILL charge up a phosphorescent (aka lumed) backing paper to enable you to operate the watch fully in the dark.
Amazing! 🙌 Awesome to hear from the man himself. 👌 Glad you enjoyed the video! That's incredible!! 🤯 Wow, I would not have expected being able to see CHARACTERS on the paper! - As there appeared to be a mirror finish on the back of the LCD. Is there a difference between the stock paper that comes with the watch, versus the one included in the mod on Etsy? Thanks so much for weighing in! 🙏
@@goatreviews The stock light spreader is a piece of clear plastic with matte white paint on the back. My light spreader is only the clear plastic part. Light internally reflects down the length of the clear plastic until it hits a pit, then it scatters out of the light spreader. The white paper reflects the light forward so it passes out of the LCD to light up the display. Without the paper or other backing material, the backlight would be dimmer and you would see the PCB of the watch when you press the light button. The stock light spreader will work to reflect light, but it is too thick and needs to be removed so the space it takes up can be used to fit the improved light spreader.
@@goatreviews white LED's are just blue LED's coated in a special yellow paint. The blue light hits the yellow paint and some of it is absorbed and re-emitted as a spread of wavelengths that create the appearance of white light. A white led will work, but only the unabsorbed blue light will charge up the luminous material. If you want the whole screen to be glowing evenly, the led must go through a light spreader, otherwise you just get one brightly glowing charged up spot.
Thanks AliexpressWatch! 👌 This is something I regret not mentioning in response to the questions, "Plans for the future of the channel" - Obviously modding watches is going to be a big part of the future too. Thanks for bringing this up! 🙏
Oh man! I'm sorry to hear that, Jared. Which model was it that got scratched? 😨 Awesome! 🙌 That's good to know. If I ever get a scratch, I'll likely end up buying a bunch of protectors for the rest 😄
OH MAN!! 😱 Please accept my sincere apologies, StumbleNut. I'm almost sure I saw you ask me some great questions as comments on the video, but I can't find them! Evidently RUclips's "Contains Questions" comment-filter did not include them in the results. I'd love to answer your questions here as a comment - Do you remember what they were? (I've gone back to look for them in my notifications and emails and can't find them)

Interesting! Would the same White LED I installed in the Digimon device work to charge this back paper as well? Or would it have to be blue?
