Man what a throwback...I was 11 years old when this game was live. What a great time in hockey. Ftorek was outta there the following year, Gretzky called him out after being benched.
a great moment for hockey, it started the sunbelt of hockey in the states, new teams, new buildings, more fans, wayne did himself a lot of good, but he also did a lot of good for others.
Not so sure about that. He went on to win 5 more scoring titles (3 regular season snd 1 playoff and 1 Canada Cup scoring title) and a Hart Trophy in the next 6 years. The Oilers would have won another 3-4 Cups if he had stayed.

Love TSN
the difference between the year earlier for the Kings opener to this one is two worlds apart. The professional beginning of hockey in Cali.
Wow Roy Orbison performing The Star Spangled Banner....sadly, he would pass away suddenly exactly two months later.
I'd love to see the entire game.
"They called it the trade of the century- August 9, 1988. The holder of 49 NHL records. #99, Wayne Gretzky!"
I'd love to see the part where JVH compared the Gretzky trade to the deaths of John Lennon & Elvis.
He did? Coincidentally, Roy Orbison, who was good friends with Lennon and Elvis, would die exactly 2 months later.
Dodgers world series champs same year
And the Lakers repeated as NBA champs that year as well. 1988 was literally a banner year for L.A. sports.
Way better back then, now they lights and stupid horns and music
Bob miller the best
That isn't Gretzky it's. A pic of Ron Dugay you boneheads
Honestly Edmonton dumped Gretzky at a perfect time.

why did it sound like they booed Robitaille
They were chanting "LUUUUUUUUUUUC!"
