OMG. Best news of the day! Some other RUclipsrs recommended. But I learned my lesson: Don't buy unless I find that it works on 40+ skin. Woohoo! And your skin looks great - like skin in the Wayne Goss-style concealer video.
I feel so validated! Been in love with this for months. If anyone cares, I am 48 with oily skin and it works for me too. Less is more for me, though. 😍😍😍
Good to know - I've seen so many demos where they slathered it on and then complained it was cakey & heavy (well, duh!?) - Arna Alayne was the one who approached it as a less is more foundation and I loved it on her, but she's much younger than me, I'm 49 with normal to maybe slightly dry skin, so I'm so glad to hear your take on it, and Shelly's whose skin type is quite close to mine.
This is one of the 4 I brought with me to Ireland (Ilia, YSL All Hours - which I've already gotten too much sun to wear, and Hourglass Vanish Stick). I've worn this and the Ilia the most!
lovemyrainydays It is almost comical how much some YTers apply. Hysterical! So glad other people have seen how good this foundation is. I actually bought a much lighter shade to use as concealer because I’m sick of how dry my under eyes look with reg concealer. . 😃
Damaris - yep, and I feel the same about concealer - I was just watching a foundation review today actually that made me laugh... by the time this girl had finished with concealer there was like only half a square inch of area on her whole face that wasn't covered by it - how can you tell what the foundation's doing when 95% of it got slathered over by shape tape. Jeez. Good idea with the lighter shade of foundation as concealer by the way, I've not tried that but I do often apply a teeny drop of facial oil under the eyes to counter some too dry concealers.
Love this stick foundation too... best for drug store for this yr. I get compliments when wearing this and only have to touch up once in a full 12hr. day
When this foundation first came to ULTA I picked it up. I have dry/normal skin and I love it. Even more then alot of my higher end foundations. It's became holy grail status to me!
It's so similar to the Hourglass Vanish stick that I think when I get home from traveling I'm going to put them to a side by side comparison. It's so good!
1)I just picked up this foundation and had pretty much been watching your video the whole time in Ulta to help me with picking out a shade 😊 2) hearing your outro, especially the "take care of each other" part, is like sleepytime asmr for me. It makes me feel so peaceful and happy. ❤
The very first time I ever saw Dave Matthews Band play in 2003 (which has now been 56 times, so it was an impactful night for me!), he was thanking the crowd at the end of the show and all that, and I expected him to say "Take care of yourselves!" and instead he said, "Take care of each other - bye bye!" and that subtle difference just blew my mind right then and there. What a world it would be if we were all looking out for and taking care of each other! It stuck with me. I knew that would be my video outro on RUclips before I even figured out my channel name 😂
Shelly, you are by far my favorite beauty vlogger. Authentic, informative, funny, and just a joy to watch. Loving the foundation on you. Eye makeup is great, only wish Maybeline was cruelty free. Oh, I like the way you swatched the colors tonight, with just a still photo. Thanks for another fantastic video. Hugs❣
I just got mine today from Ulta through the mail. I’m absolutely loving it!! Very natural looking & has great coverage yet lightweight. Beautiful finish. I too have the F2 color & it’s a perfect match on me. I’m fair with some yellow under tones. I rate it an A. 👍🏼
I have watched other makeup gurus. And most are very nice and informative . However they were younger and/ or had perfect flawless skin. I was overly happy i found you and your videos. It was so wonderful to find someone who had the same issues. Someone I could actually relate too. So i would like to personally thank you for your wonderful videos. I have tried several foundations you have reviewed . anyways sorry this is so long. But again. Thank you so very much. You are freaking AWESOME
Thanks, Misty! That's so much of why I started doing RUclips. There aren't many people even over 30 doing foundation reviews, let alone 40 and beyond. I've still got pretty good skin and I realize how lucky I am, but I've also got enough issues that I think that sharing how foundations work on me can help others with similar issues. So here I am! :-D
This looks beautiful on you dude💜. On camera the color looks great, no liver failure noticeable from my seat😂! I love your entire makeup look and I’m loving that top on you! So dang cute. I think I’m going to pick this up for myself and my daughter (she’s been using the concealer for the past month and she loves it). Thanks for another winner😊
I have extremely dry and flakey skin and use physical sunscreen. By the late afternoon, my makeup looks so bad no matter what I do. (I suspect it might be because of alcohol in liquid foundations?) This one however looks better with time!!! I am totally surprised. Btw, thank you always for your good reviews. :-)
Oh great, I bought this in f4 and am waiting for it to arrive. Apparently even the other foundations in their range are good, even on older skin. Also not sure if you are into mixing foundations but I recently have had major success with mixing nars sheer glow with the ordinary serum. They go really well together, satin matte, medium coverage, smoothing and long lasting.
I'm usually too lazy to do the foundation cocktails but the concept always intrigues me! I picked up F3 and F4 in this one and am now wearing F4 because I got a little sun this past week. It's working well! I think F3 is probably my best winter color.
Going through more of your videos today, you are such a help to me! Love your new to me hair coloring here also. I am thankful when you do the color test on arm with the remain in place labels so I can take a screen shot for shopping. Wow, this is my first time to see stick foundation. Thanks so much, am going to try.
I was going to ask you to try this one!! Just got mine todAy!! I am 50 yrs and I have mature dry skin..I will let you know how mine goes....I hope mine goes as good as yours did! Thank you!!
I love that primer! I mix my no 7 pigment drops with that and it makes the prettiest foundation. I came back to this video bc I got this stick foundation out to use today. I haven’t worn it since it came out and I didn’t like it back then but for some reason I’m really loving it today! I’m thinking it’s bc Ive really got into skincare since this came out and my skin has changed for the better and some of my foundations sit completely different on my skin now. I’ll be wearing this more often! I have the same shade f2 and it’s a very good match for me.
I've got 5 shades of this stick now so I can wear it any which way, any time of year, self tanning or not lol. It's a great grab and go no fuss foundation :)
Geek Out of Water I think it would make a really nice cream contour or bronzer if I can find the right shades for it. This foundation lasted a long time today too. It looked great many hours later!
Yes! I've been looking at this, but have been afraid of ANY stick foundations. I'm going to pick it up! I already have the concealer. I love it! It beat out my Tarte Shape Tape, so now I can save that $20! I love MUR. Their palettes and liquid lips are really great too. Thanks for the review Shelly!
This one is super creamy - blends out smooth and I've been wearing it sheered out here in Ireland for a quick face. It is so versatile! I grabbed shades F3 (I think the one I should've started with) and F4 (one shade darker... I've gotten a little sun and F4 is working well right now).
I'm hoping I can swatch at Ulta, but with it being so affordable, it won't hurt to have a winter and summer shade. I'm glad you pointed out that the numbers correspond to the undertones. I'll check out the MUR site before I go. Thanks again!
Just wanted to follow up on this one, as I've been doing the much dreaded email reads and declutter! Ha! I'm REALLY bad about it, but I digress. I did buy this, and had "meh" feelings about it, and haven't reached for it since. It seemed to be too creamy, and slid around...I need to experiment with different setting methods. Now I have other ways of making my skin appear dewy/natural, which is my personal preference for my dry and aging skin. It's just more flattering and forgiving. So, I will try it out again. I want to like a stick foundation, and this one has a great price point.
I'm loving your channel and find myself watching your videos over others. I'm also a huge fan of thatayla and love the foundation series. The foundation looks so good on you!
Oh I might need to try this one! Thanks for a great review. I've seen other reviews on this, but yours is the one I trust. I'm normally pretty pink toned and have the same foundation matches as you, but with the summer sun, my skin is warming up quickly. Maybe the liver failure color will be perfect for me!
I love this one! I went and got it in F3 and F4 too. I've gotten a little sun in Ireland and F4 is great on me at the moment! F3 is definitely what I should have initially purchased for my no-sun winter color. I think F2 (the one in this video) would work undertone-wise on me now that I have a little sun.
I think that kat von D brow powder looks and matches so well w your skin and hair! I got the BH cosmetics HD brow pencil and it's AMAZING!! It's just like the brow wiz but sooo much better imo AND only like $6.
Yes!! Was hoping you were going to test this out, I just tried it out for the first time today in F4. I think I can go a little darker but F5 is darker and yellow than F6,so I may order F6. I thought the finish was super pretty too and very easy to blend out.
I've gotten a little sun here in Ireland and I picked up F3 and F4 - so now F3 is a little too light for me (it will be perfect for winter) and F4 is just right :)
I picked this up a few weeks ago in F4 but wanted to get it in F2. I am fair with warm/yellow undertones. I can pull off a neutral in a pinch. My Ulta didn't have anything less than F3 which i already knew had a pink undertone. I'm glad Ulta put the undertones for these on their website. I have never used a stick foundation but I love this one. So creamy & such good coverage but doesn't feel cakey. Glad it worked for you.
Oh my god. So I'm a 22 year old woman with very dry skin AND large pores, and this is, by FAR, my new holy grail. It's just so beautiful. Covers my acne scars, does not emphasize texture, settles into the skin beautifully. I'm in love. I'm also have fairly yellow-toned, olivey fair skin, and F1 is a fantastic match for me
I've got this one coming up in my next favorites video because I have been wearing the heck out of it!! It's perfect. It can go anywhere from spot concealing to sheer to light to dang near full coverage. I just love it. The finish is perfect and it definitely improves the look of my skin. I'm glad you love it, too!
YEAH!!!!! I am so excited. My current daily foundation is nearly out and I was going to pickup the Hourglass stick foundation based on your previous reviews and ranking. I'll give this one a shot first! Thank you for another amazing review Shelly!! 😘
I actually brought both the Hourglass and this one to Ireland because I finally picked up the Hourglass in a more "summer" shade for me, and they are SO similar. The finish and application is near spot on. The Hourglass might be a smidge (and I mean a tiny smidge) more lightweight but they're both super comfortable. Honestly, I'd try the Makeup Revolution first!
Geek Out of Water : Shelly, I am so happy!!! I picked up this foundation based on this video and your recommendation. Today was my first all day wear and I can't remember the last time I loved my foundation/skin all day! It wore beautifully. Thank you so much for the killer review and recommendation. I'm one happy camper! 😘
Oooh its that dress from a couple of weeks back!! Dead cute, love it!. I was so hoping you'd do this foundation, I've been wanting to see it on more "life experienced" skin after Arna Alayne reviewed it and really liked it (but she's still a 20-something I think), and damn, you got some great longwear out of it. She was the one, if I'm remembering correctly, that called it 1) a less-is-more one & 2) a great weekend foundation, as in not for all day but pretty perfect for 4-5 hours (brunch, lunch & shopping, dinner out, etc) which is all I need since I'm not working these days - but you got 10 hours - so go Shelly!! And the finish was really so pretty, just what I want (and I thought you got away with the colour okay, I probably couldn't though, I'd definitely need the cool or neutral one). They also seem to have really hit the undertone thing right out of the park, nice tones - as in not obnoxiously too yellow or too pink (or more importantly not the "wrong" shade of pink) nor does it oxidise. We don't have Revoluton products here in Oz, but the UK website is brilliant and their international shipping is dirt cheap (or free if you order enough stuff) - and it doesn't take that long to arrive (I think it was only 10-12 days for my order last month). I'm so getting this stuff!! Thanks for the review. Oh and the swatches - I like the "live footage" - but ultimately as long as they're there, I don't care if it's live or a still pic, just appreciative you do them!
Finally one that you can get!! :-D I picked up F3 and F4 as well and brought them to Ireland with me. I'd say F3 is what I should've started with, and since I've gotten a little sun, F4 is working wonderfully. They really did nail the undertones - like smack dab in the middle of moderate for cool and warm, with a true neutral. Nothing extreme - which I think is the easiest to work with even if you do lean extremely warm or extremely cool, because you can always warm up or cool down that extra bit with powders/bronzers/etc. I'm a big fan of this one - and it's quite similar to my Hourglass vanish stick, so much so that I think when I get home I'm going to do a half and half face and try them side by side. I brought Hourglass with me too (I finally bought a darker shade for summer) but it doesn't match my Hourglass shades to test them here.
Thanks, Peggy! This is SUPER similar to the Hourglass - so much so that when I get home from traveling I think I'm going to do a half and half face side by side comparison.
Geek Out of Water i bought the foundation based off your review. It's on sale this week at ULTA. I used it today for the first time and it validated EVERYTHING on your review!
I just discovered your videos last week and have been binge-watching to catch up. I have mature, dry skin also, Fair in winter and Light in summer, so all your info is very helpful. I had already tried this stick foundation; glad to see your results match mine. I will keep watching!
I have this one (F3), but I haven’t used it yet because I’m a bit intimidated by stick foundation as I’ve never used one. You can bet I’m using it tomorrow! I have tried eyeshadows and cream blushes by this brand, and I’ve been really impressed.
Definitely try it!!! It's surprisingly creamy and blends out so pretty! And you can really control the coverage, sheer to medium-full. I've worn it every which way and it works so well.
Thanks, Lenise! This one is a full two thumbs up. I brought it with me to Ireland and it's super versatile - can wear it sheer or build it up. So pretty either way.
I'm sold, I'm going to pick this up! Thank you for doing all of these foundation reviews, they are so so helpful and enjoyable - I really appreciate them.
I have this in f2 as well and I bought it over the winter and didn’t care for it too much when I had used it but I’m going to get it out tomorrow and try it again
I love the Shameless you! I’m catching up on these foundation vids. We went out of town from Missouri to Utah and back in the vehicle last week and this week so I missed this was even starting😩 I can assure you RUclips doesn’t like driving in the mountains and canyons lolol thanks for all the vids! Oh oh oh I saw commercials now yayyyyyy your rising up on the RUclips chain:)
Woohoooooo! I can never tell what gets served up to people because I think what I see is different from what you guys see :-D Next stop, penthouse baby!
This looks so beautiful on you! Please do film when you get the other shades so we can see - in the daylight check-in it really did look a lovely match on you - would be great to see how it looks with your preferred undertone.
Thanks, Kathryn! I picked up F3 (I probably should have started with that one) and F4 (wearing it now in Ireland because I got some sun!). They've really done a great job with the undertones on this foundation - the cools are nice, moderate cools that aren't too pink or too peach, and the warms are nice moderate warms without being too yellow, and the neutral sits truly right between them - at least on the lighter end of the spectrum!
It's really lovely on you. Thank you for this review. I've been curious about stick foundation lately and at that price this one is much easier to justify than the Hourglass one.
Much easier! I actually brought both with me (I picked up the Hourglass in my "summer" shade recently) so I would have a good shade variety here, and honestly they're very, very similar in finish and application. The Hourglass might be the slightest smidge more lightweight on the skin but the difference is negligible, and they look and feel very similar. I might have to do a side by side comparison when I get home. (The shades I have with me don't match). :)
I'm sold! And for this price i'm definitely going to pick it up as soon as possible. I'm on a budget for this Summer and your foundation fest has been a great watch, Thank you Shelly!
It's so pretty!! I really feel like they nailed the undertones on this one - moderate cool, moderate warm, and a true neutral. I bought F3 and F4 as well and they're just exactly what they should be!
I’m new to your channel (subscribed😊), and really appreciate this review. I’ve been on the fence about trying this one, as some reviews said it enhanced pores. It looks beautiful on you. For $9 I should give it a go:)
I've never tried a stick foundation; think this one will be the first. But this finish with the eye look, stunning! The entire look with the red hair is perfection!
Wow! I need to try this -- I love a good cream/stick foundation. The lightest shade miiiight work for me. I am neutral-cool but I prefer something leaning yellow to act as color-correcting for my redness from rosacea.
Try out F2! It's a very moderate yellow undertone - they've really nailed the undertones. I feel like warm is smack dab moderate yellow, and cool is smack dab moderate pink, not too peachy, and neutral is dead center between them. I've now got F2, F3, and F4 and I can wear them all. I'm wearing F4 now that I got a smidge of sun - it's described as light neutral.
Oh wow! I have never even been tempted to try a stick foundation, but I sure am now! That looks so beautiful on you, and seemed to blend out so well too! Well, another one to add to the list. On a side note, how do you like that concealer? I'm always on the hunt for a good concealer. I've been kind of wanting to try the Flower beauty light illusion concealer, but now I want to try this one too, lol.
I'm enjoying the Makeup Revolution concealer too - I only brought 2 concealers with me to Ireland, the Makeup Revolution and KVD Lock-It (for when I do a full coverage face). The MUR has been my daily concealer and I feel like it has coverage similar to Shape Tape but does not dry out my undereye the way Shape Tape does. And I really like the shade match - I'm using C3.
Thanks, Mag! If you have any suggestions for foundation or concealer reviews, just let me know! And the master list is here if you haven't found it yet: geekoutofwater.com/foundation-fest/
Okay... you've got me, I need to try this one. lol I've never tried a stick foundation, so it'll be fun. London Drugs in Canada carries a smaller selection of the shade range but at a better cost than importing it from Ulta. But of course F3 is out of stock online and in store here, and they don't carry F1 or F2. I might have to drag hubby into Ulta next time we do a Washington State parcel run just to get this. :D
Jennifer Dixson I am in Canada (Edmonton, Alberta). Where did you find this foundation. What London Drugs? I was at London Drugs like a month ago in Sherwood Park and was looking but didn’t notice it. Did you happen to notice if London Drugs has the concealer as well. Thanks girl for commenting 😊
I was just looking on their website and using the online stock check for the Vancouver-area stores. I've been avoiding actually going into the cosmetics department lately due to my no-buy and avoiding temptation. lol
Ive got try this! I would love to see what you think of the urban decay naked skin. I’m in my 40s as well and have been on the fence about it. Thanks for such a great review
I couldn’t find F2 anywhere, unfortunately and got F3 thinking it could suit me but it’s rather pink for me, but I have a feeling F1 would be too light and F6 may be a tad too dark, oh well!
Well your pretty pretty. I actually just put f2 in my cart on ulta the other day. I’m c2 in their concealer and I could actually use a c0 for a brightening shade. I think that yellow undertone would match me perfectly.
Yep I bet F2 would work on you. I picked up F3 and F4 right before I left and F3 is what I think I should've started with, and F4 is working great now that I have a week's worth of sun (and a little self tanner).
I like this foundation as well...not sure if it is water based but I find that it lasts longer without a silicone primer. I wear the shade F3 and it's a perfect match!
I will have to check out this foundation. I love the eye look, but I'm still on the fence about that palette. Thanks for the comprehensive review. Lastly, I love seeing all your Ireland pics that you post on Instagram. Thank you so much for sharing them. So breathtaking!
It's so pretty - I brought it to Ireland with me (picked up F3 and F4 as well. I got a little sun here [weird in Ireland, right?!] so I'm wearing F4 now).
I had a mother's day gift card left so I ordered the foundation and concealer from Ulta last night. I ordered the essence foundation too. I'm always on the lookout for a non drying affordable foundation. Can't wait to see the next videos.
Is this still one of your favs? Last night i drove to our next door neighbor state to get the cyo and revlon candid:) only place i could find the cyo. Gonna try candid today i think, i tested it on my 41 yr old hand and it look fabulous so im excited to see if it works but my next one is the revolution. I have tons of revolution products and love most of them :)
Is love to see you try the W7 foundation. Looks very similar to the catrice dropper style. The W7 also looks to only have around 4 shades. I wonder how light their lightest shade is and how they stand up against the Catrice ones. I know you gave them a glowing review
They are SO similar - so much so that when I get home from traveling I think I will do a half and half face comparison. I brought them both with me to Ireland and I wish I had matching shades with me to do it here. They're bang on similar.
I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of this foundation. It sounds perfect for my dry skin! Question, have you reviewed the Boots No. 7 Lift and Luminate? If yes, how does this compare? If not, would you consider reviewing it? Thank you!
Hi Rebecca! I've tried a couple from No 7 but I don't think I've tried that one! I will try and get my hands on it while I'm here in Ireland in the land of Boots! :-D
My sunscreen (I think) did not play well with this today or I used way too much, Haha. I also may need to get F2 as F1 is a bit neutral/cool for me. I tried the Cover FX power play today and I like it though i got oily and.... I'm not oily. Weird! Hope you're having a great time on your trip and I'm loving foundation mega-fest!!!
I've only worn this with the Make P:Rem sunscreen (and no problems yet!) Ireland is fantastic! Knock on wood, it's been sunny almost every day (I actually got some sun even though I've been swimming in sunscreen every morning). I picked up this foundation in F3 and F4 and now F4 is working for me.
This foundation looks wayy better on you than me, it accentuated my texture and settled into fine lines on me 🤷 but now I wanna try it again lol. Great review 💕
I liked the ‘still’ of the foundation swatches!! I use these when I’m picking my color in a new foundation and having all the names on the pic for longer helps when your viewing. Just my two cents. Really excited to hear your views on this foundation. Now I don’t have a excuse not to try it. Edited for my terrible spelling and grammar!
I need to pick this one up myself. An A! It definitely deserved that grade. Have you had a chance to try it with the pink undertone yet? I love that top on you. So summery! Thank you for the review!
Thanks, Lori! Yes and it's beautiful! I think F3 is my usual match and F4 is my summer match (I bought them both!) I'm wearing F4 now that I got a little sun on my trip.
What a nice surprise for a stick foundation! :) I've only tried one once of a different brand, it was kind of sticky and greasy and hard to blend out. I ended up just using it to cover up my red areas and to spot conceal sun spots along my jawline. The shade you used was not too far off, more noticeable before you applied the rest of your makeup. Your skin looked so smooth! :) I pulled out an old foundation today that I haven't worn in months but I couldn't remember why I didn't like it. Today was hot and a bit humid and the No 7 Lift & Luminate has light coverage so I thought I'd give it another chance. I now remember what I didn't like....too light of a shade and too light of coverage... :/ Oh well. :D I love the No 7 Stay Perfect but the Lift & Luminate not so much.
I’ve been dying to try this foundation! Next time I’m near Ulta, I’ll stop in and see if they have any testers. I think I’m usually a bit lighter than you, but maybe with the right undertone it will work for me as well.
This foundation looks really great especially for a stick foundation..after your wear test it still looked amazing. Your eye color and lip look pretty with your red hair.. I don't know if I sent this info. correctly to you, but Laura Geller, QVC has the super size Balance n ' Brighten on sale right now. I think it was $33.25??? FYI. This foundation is on my Ulta list ......love the review!
Geek Out of Water Ok, so I HAD watched that one, but it didn’t show I had liked it, which I like all your videos that I’ve seen, so I re-liked it. RUclips gets on my nerves, because it’s constantly showing that I haven’t liked people’s videos that I know for a fact I have.
Wow this sounds like the perfect foundation to try!!! I read some of the reviews at Ulta, pretty impressive and I can't believe the price. I have normal to dry skin so it sounds like it should work pretty good. I am going to try it and I will let you know, so excited to find something nice that's also affordable!!! Keep up the good work, I look forward to the next foundation video!!! Happy Friday:)
Oooh thanks for sharing this! I love how this blends! I ended up getting F3 and F4 too and wear mostly F4 right now, as I got a little sun. I was wondering if it would work as contour! I will definitely go grab another!
Stick foundations always scare me because the only one I’ve tried was a greasy mess. The idea is awesome though, so I think I’ll pick this up at Ulta this weekend. Definitely worth a try! Thanks!
So I love love love this foundation.. I can’t seem to get it to last long though.. I’m oily .. live in Florida . But this foundation the coverage omg ! I have textured acne scars aging skin .. I feel like this glides on and sites on top of it and does not settle in making them more noticeable.. I have got to make this foundation last on my skin 😭😢
It's such a pretty finish - it makes my texture disappear! Surely you'll find the combo that keeps it in place. I usually do use setting spray with this one (I don't use setting spray in reviews but in normal wear I usually do).
Geez love your hair that color! I’m going to try this! I’m 41 and trying to find something that works! Ugh 😩 it’s been a pain ... I’ve never tried a stick foundation but I am thinking since my skin is so dry I might like the emollient texture...
Thanks, Yvonne! I have 5 shades of the MR stick now, so that I can wear it any time of the year, from totally pale to totally self tanning 😂 It's still a favorite!!
Yeah I ordered it yesterday after watching your video! It’s a steal at Ulta right now! 2 for $14 so I got a primer too which weren’t a lot of reviews but at $7 I won’t be mad! I’m sick of spending over $30 on foundations to only be bummed by them 😢😭😂
OMG. Best news of the day! Some other RUclipsrs recommended. But I learned my lesson: Don't buy unless I find that it works on 40+ skin. Woohoo! And your skin looks great - like skin in the Wayne Goss-style concealer video.
Thanks, Mary! This one definitely works! I brought it to Ireland with me :-D
I feel so validated! Been in love with this for months. If anyone cares, I am 48 with oily skin and it works for me too. Less is more for me, though. 😍😍😍
Damaris Rodriguez Yay, I'm 47 for a few more months. Good to know how it works for you too.😊👍
Good to know - I've seen so many demos where they slathered it on and then complained it was cakey & heavy (well, duh!?) - Arna Alayne was the one who approached it as a less is more foundation and I loved it on her, but she's much younger than me, I'm 49 with normal to maybe slightly dry skin, so I'm so glad to hear your take on it, and Shelly's whose skin type is quite close to mine.
I get compliments when wearing this and only have to touch up once in a full 12hr. day
Yep this one is definitely making my favorites of the year!
Geek Out of Water it really is!
1)I just picked up this foundation and had pretty much been watching your video the whole time in Ulta to help me with picking out a shade 😊
2) hearing your outro, especially the "take care of each other" part, is like sleepytime asmr for me.
Hugs❣
Thanks, Rene! Yep the still photo was initially a mistake in my footage but then I thought hmmm I kind of like this! :-D
Geek Out of Water sometimes when we do something accidentally, it turns out better than our original plan. 🙃
Hello reneklein
I just got mine today from Ulta through the mail. I’m absolutely loving it!! Very natural looking & has great coverage yet lightweight. Beautiful finish. I too have the F2 color & it’s a perfect match on me. I’m fair with some yellow under tones. I rate it an A. 👍🏼
This is my favorite stick foundation! I have 5 shades of it now so I can wear it any time of year, all the way through self tanning 😂
Thanks, Yvonne! The concealer is great too - I brought both this foundation and the concealer to Ireland with me :)
Thank you!!
Would love to hear how it goes, Debra! I'm in love with this one!
Debra Wellman 50 as well with mature dry skin. I really love this foundation. My first stick foundation. I hope it works for you.
@Debra Wellman I'm curious how this foundation worked for you; 49 here with dry ish skin
So..I just finally made it to Ulta and was able to buy this this weekend and try it. It really is the absolute best foundation I have tried so far!
It's so good!!! Glad it works for you, Kayleigh! I love it :)
Thanks, Yahaira!
Thanks, Sara! I do love me some BH Cosmetics! :-D
I love the glo lock primer! Me and 41 year old extremely dry skin have been using it for about a month now and I’m in love.
It's a surprise hit! I don't see people talking about it but it really works well for me!
I bet you'll like F2! I'm wearing F4 now that I got a little sun and it's working well.
I prefer the video style for the swatches over the still photo. The still swatches look darker and more flat. Great video!
Thanks, Darrele!
Shelly can't wait to run to Ulta and get this ASAP!!! So excited to try this!!!!
It's going to end up on my favorites of the year. Let me know how it goes, Graciela!!
Hello Graciela
Think I’ll try this one. I’ve been wanting to try hourglass one but the cost 😱! Thanks for your review. By the way, your eyelashes look good!
Thanks, Peggy! This is SUPER similar to the Hourglass - so much so that when I get home from traveling I think I'm going to do a half and half face side by side comparison.
This was the most if not the best realistic review of this foundation! Thank you!
Thanks, Sofia!
Welcome, Regina! I'm loving this foundation - brought it with me to Ireland!
Darn't I was just at Ulta looking at this today! Now I have to go back tomorrow....I love a dewy stick foundation! Your eyes look amazing today :)
Thanks, Lenise! This one is a full two thumbs up. I brought it with me to Ireland and it's super versatile - can wear it sheer or build it up. So pretty either way.
Hi Lenise
2/4/2019, I know this was last year but I just had to say I much a enjoy your videos, You're funny and unpredictable and I love it. YOU'RE NATURAL!!!
Thank you, Kris! :-D I predict a year from now we'll still be hanging out chatting makeup!
@@goow Absolutely :D
This looked so good on you!! I may have to try this. I love makeup revolution ❤️❤️.
I've had really good luck with everything I've tried from them!
Hello Kelly
I'm sold, I'm going to pick this up! Thank you for doing all of these foundation reviews, they are so so helpful and enjoyable - I really appreciate them.
Thanks, Stella! Let me know how you like it!
I have this in f2 as well and I bought it over the winter and didn’t care for it too much when I had used it but I’m going to get it out tomorrow and try it again
I now have F1 through F5 for any time of year including self tanning. I definitely enjoy this one!
Geek Out of Water I’m thinking it might wear differently on me now with my skin being mora normal in the summer.
This is so exciting!!! Very affordable!!!!! I’ve never had a stick foundation. Looking forward to trying.
They're super handy for travel! I brought this one to Ireland with me :)
Just watched your Foundation Follow Up, I'm going to have to pick one of these up - wish me luck guessing a shade match!
Thanks, Dee! Let me know how it goes!
I adore this too!! F1 is SUCH a good undertone for me!
It's so pretty!! I really feel like they nailed the undertones on this one - moderate cool, moderate warm, and a true neutral. I bought F3 and F4 as well and they're just exactly what they should be!
I just love your videos! Definitely a favorite chanel!
💜
I’m new to your channel (subscribed😊), and really appreciate this review. I’ve been on the fence about trying this one, as some reviews said it enhanced pores. It looks beautiful on you. For $9 I should give it a go:)
Welcome, Carrie! I find it to be quite smoothing. It’s one of the few foundations I brought on my trip :)
Geek Out of Water I’ll definitely be purchasing. Thanks:))
Hello Carrie
The color you picked looks really good 😁👍
You look really pretty and I'm so digging your hair with the flip!
Thanks, Ann!
Wow! Gotta try this one! I'll try it with the same primer too. Thanks Shelly!
Let me know how it goes, Merrilee!
I almost picked this up a couple days ago but wasn't sure, glad you reviewed I'll have to go out and get the f1 shade
Let me know how you like it, Sammie!
I've never tried a stick foundation; think this one will be the first. But this finish with the eye look, stunning! The entire look with the red hair is perfection!
Thanks, Laura! Try it - it's lovely!!!
The foundation sticks look proposing! Might be exactly what I need!!
Definitely want to try this! I, too, am stuck on the Rose Gold highlighter. I just can’t quit it.
I'm loving the heck out of this one!
Looks beautiful on you Shelly!! Thanks for another great review!! I’ll have to try this one!
I’ve been binge watching your videos, you’re awesome!! 🥳
Thanks, Mag! If you have any suggestions for foundation or concealer reviews, just let me know! And the master list is here if you haven't found it yet: geekoutofwater.com/foundation-fest/
The foundation really does look beautiful! I'll be checking it out. 🌞
Thanks, Dawn!
Hello dawn
Looks very good! Never tried stick foundation, may have to. Thanks for another great video kiddo. Your skin is so pretty!
Thanks, Susan! This is definitely the one to try if you're going to :)
Thank you for this video! You helped me decide witch colour i needed! And your eye makeup is beautiful! 👌🏼
I have 5 shades of this foundation now so I can wear it from the dead of winter through mega-self-tanning. It's lovely!!!
Okay... you've got me, I need to try this one. lol I've never tried a stick foundation, so it'll be fun.
I’ve only heard good things about this foundation! The yellow undertone looks great with the red hair!
I do need to remember that my hair is a totally different color now lol :-D It always messes with my makeup for a little bit!
Even though I’m (slightly) 😂😊 late watching this, the foundation looks BEAUTIFUL…🧡🧡🧡
Thanks, Colleen!! =D
I couldn’t find F2 anywhere, unfortunately and got F3 thinking it could suit me but it’s rather pink for me, but I have a feeling F1 would be too light and F6 may be a tad too dark, oh well!
Dang! I have a feeling it will be pretty well sold out until the buzz dies down. :-/
I grabbed F3 and F4 after this video and F3 is just right on me and F4 is working now that I got a tiny bit of sun. Loving this stuff!!
Hey Shelley!! U got yo yrybthe new maybelline Super stay stick foundation. Been LOVING it!!
Yes I will definitely grab it when I get home (unless I can find it here in Ireland!)
Your hair looks FABULOUS!!
Thanks, Jennifer! All of my boredom gets channeled into eyeshadow and my hair colors :-D
I will have to check out this foundation. I love the eye look, but I'm still on the fence about that palette. Thanks for the comprehensive review. Lastly, I love seeing all your Ireland pics that you post on Instagram. Thank you so much for sharing them. So breathtaking!
Thanks! I'm having a wonderful time. We leave Dublin in the morning to head to Derry in Northern Ireland. A week there, then 4 weeks in Galway :)
This looks really promising. I'm actually fair with warm undertone. Adding the foundation and concealer to my Ulta list
Hi Vicki - Yes!! I have 5 shades now to make sure I can wear it any time of year :-D
Geek Out of Water 5! Wow okay im going tomorrow to get some lol you talked me into it:)
Definitely going to try this one! Thanks Shelly!
It's lovely! Let me know how it goes, Kate!
Love your hair I had that color last time it's purple now.
Thanks! I get bored with my hair lol.
Geek Out of Water me too!
thanks for the in depth review! I might try this out on my combo skin, though it could be a total disaster for summer.
Thanks, Rachel! I've seen some oily people say it's working for them, but my skin offers zero basis for comparison on that point lol.
Is love to see you try the W7 foundation. Looks very similar to the catrice dropper style. The W7 also looks to only have around 4 shades. I wonder how light their lightest shade is and how they stand up against the Catrice ones. I know you gave them a glowing review
I will try to get my hands on that W7! Thanks, Claire!
Thank you so much for this review! I needed a budget friendly alternative to the Hourglass Vanish. Yay! 🤘🏻
They are SO similar - so much so that when I get home from traveling I think I will do a half and half face comparison. I brought them both with me to Ireland and I wish I had matching shades with me to do it here. They're bang on similar.
I’ve really been wanting to get this! So glad you did a review 😄
I love this one, Krystal! Brought it with to Ireland! :-D
Geek Out of Water did you get it in the right under tone? Ireland?! What a dream that must’ve been! ❤️
Your hair is so beautiful... it’s just breathtaking on you. I can’t say it enough. I 💜 the purple, but I ❤️ the red even better.
Thanks, Amber! I've always thought red looked the most "me." :)
Thank you!! P.S. I love Taylor too.😊 And I adore how that eye look turned out for you.
Thanks, LisaD!!
This foundation looks wayy better on you than me, it accentuated my texture and settled into fine lines on me 🤷 but now I wanna try it again lol. Great review 💕
Definitely try again - maybe it was just being finicky with a primer or something! :) Worth a shot!
Geek Out of Water What shade do you find works best for you? Did you pick up a new shade? I tried f2 but it was a bit too yellow 😕
Hello Diana
I liked the ‘still’ of the foundation swatches!! I use these when I’m picking my color in a new foundation and having all the names on the pic for longer helps when your viewing. Just my two cents. Really excited to hear your views on this foundation. Now I don’t have a excuse not to try it. Edited for my terrible spelling and grammar!
Thanks, Kara! I've now got 3 shades of this one and I love it!
I need to go shopping, in that case. One of my girls has a pink undertone so we have to get two different foundations. Thanks, Shelly!
I pulled out an old foundation today that I haven't worn in months but I couldn't remember why I didn't like it.
I prefer the Stay Perfect too! I'm in Boots-land now... I should check out what they've got on this side of the pond. :)
Oooh! I'm jealous! :D
I’ve been dying to try this foundation! Next time I’m near Ulta, I’ll stop in and see if they have any testers. I think I’m usually a bit lighter than you, but maybe with the right undertone it will work for me as well.
I definitely feel like they've nailed the undertones on this one. Worth a shot!!
Thank you for your great videos. Love your hair colour. 😊
Ya sold me !! Going to try it out too, thanks for that helpful review. 😊
Let me know how it goes, Tracey! I brought this one to Ireland with me :)
I just got this today, I'm so excited to try it! Glad it got a good review from you, I hope I like it as much ^__^
Let me know how it goes, Miranda! I picked up 2 more shades (F3 and F4) and I still love it - brought them to Ireland with me!
Thanks, Linda - I need a new LG powder! I'm about to hit pan!
Love what I can see of your top! Makeup looks great.
Thanks, Autumn! I'm wearing that blue crochet dress from my Curvy Sense haul! ruclips.net/video/ZlA5Zzn_BuU/видео.html
Geek Out of Water I’ll have to watch that one! Thanks!
Let me know how it goes, Jan!!
I love this and so pleased to see it tested on an older lady, I have both c4 and c5 as I am cool undertone but tend to mix them :)
I also use F13 as contour my skin is dry and mature
Oooh thanks for sharing this! I love how this blends! I ended up getting F3 and F4 too and wear mostly F4 right now, as I got a little sun. I was wondering if it would work as contour! I will definitely go grab another!
I did not like this one for my 60 yr old dry skin. Enjoyed your review, as always and happy it worked for you.
Kathy Aay Beauty what didn’t u like?
Stick foundations always scare me because the only one I’ve tried was a greasy mess. The idea is awesome though, so I think I’ll pick this up at Ulta this weekend. Definitely worth a try! Thanks!
I've got 3 shades of this now (grabbed F3 and F4) and I just love it!
Sounds great especially with how it blended out so easy.
Hurray!!! A!!! finally!!
This one is so good! I have 5 shades of it now to be sure I can wear it year-round even if I am self tanning :)
Your eyes are stunning with your red hair. Foundation is a hit!
Thanks, Bo!
Trying it, after this review!
Love your color on your hair 👍
