    I did this in September 2016, It's now January 2018 and I still have the same flowers. They still look amazing. The colour fades but the shape still holds. Because the colour fades the method works best with white flowers. It may be ideal to mix some food dye to match the colour of the flower. Also it's best to keep them in a dry airy area for at least a month, if you put them somewhere hot and humid you risk them growing mold.

    Thanks for your video. After the wax hardened, there were visible accumulations of wax on the tips of the pedals from the flower being held upside down. Have you experienced that? My solution was to touch the ends of the pedals to a paper towel after pulling the flower out of the hot wax. This prevented the wax accumulations. I don’t know if it prevented the wax from adequately coating the tips of the pedals.

    • @1800flowers
      @1800flowers  7 лет назад

      White flowers are difficult to preserve with wax. They do tend to brown quickly. White petals are very delicate and bruise even when they are fresh! You can try to keep the wax a little bit on the cooler side with white flowers. If the wax is cooler it will dry whiter but that would be ok with white flowers.

    after the flower is dripped and dried how do you remove the white hardened wax between lots of the petels and even doẃn in the rose hip? i used hair dryer it didnt remove it all and bangēd up the outside petels .

    • @1800flowers
      @1800flowers  7 лет назад

      If you have hardened white wax between the petals it means that there is too much wax. Also with roses, it is best to wait until you have enjoyed your roses as fresh cut flowers as long as possible, waxing when the rose is fully bloomed and the petals are wide open.

    Could you use this method to create a flower crown?

    • @1800flowers
      @1800flowers  7 лет назад +8

      I would only try to wax very small flowers to use on a crown and then glue them onto a fresh base. Waxing will make the flowers a little heavier but more importantly the wax easily cracks when handled too much.

    • @1800flowers

      I think that the wax would work on the silica dried flowers as long as the flowers have maintained their original shape and have not closed up and become to dry. The more you can get the wax to go into the various folds and spaces between the petals the better.

      Your waxed flowers will last for weeks even months. They will gradually lose some of their color but will also take on a beautiful vintage look to them. I have images on my blog post of an arrangement of roses and succulents when I originally waxed them and the same arrangement four weeks later - it still looks beautiful! www.1800flowers.com/blog/julie/how-tos/how-long-do-waxed-roses-last-follow-up/

    • @1800flowers
      @1800flowers  6 лет назад

      I have left waxed flowers outside during cold weather and they have been fine. There isn’t any guarantee however that they will not crack and turn white in freezing weather. While waxing does extend the time that you will be able to enjoy your flowers, in a different way, they are still delicate and the less they are handled or exposed to extreme temperatures the better they will hold up.
