  • Watch as Jara coats a silk flower with XTC-3D epoxy resin to create a long-lasting glossy display.
XTC-3D® is a protective coating for smoothing and finishing 3D printed parts. Two liquids are mixed together and brushed onto any 3D print. Coating self-levels and wets out uniformly without leaving brush strokes. Working time is 10 minutes and cure time is about 4 hours (depending on mass and temperature). XTC-3D® cures to a hard, impact resistant coating that can be sanded, primed and painted. Adding colors and metal effects is easy.
Inexpensive to Use: 1 oz covers 100+ square inches.
90% Time & Labor Savings: XTC-3D® fills in 3D print striations and creates a smooth, high gloss finish. The need to post finish is almost eliminated.
Coat any 3D Print Surface: XTC-3D® can be applied to both SLA and SLS prints. It works with PLA, ABS, Laywoo, Powder Printed Parts and other rigid media. It also can be used to coat EPS, EPDM and urethane foam as well as wood, plaster, fabric, cardboard and paper.
XTC-3D® does not contain VOC's, phthalates or phosphates.

This was neat, but I wish the title had said silk flower, as this is useless to people trying to coat real flowers.

For the same reasons as one would put resin on a fake flower, or to preserve the real flower.

For a real flower you must first dry it, silica gel will preserve color and look of your flowers

No. You cannot coat real flowers this way. They will have to be preserved first. Look at: RESIN COATING REAL ORCHIDS. Here's how to 1/2.

I think folks that actually work with resin/epoxy understand YES whatever MUST be dried before or the color will be ripped away. I want to find the best way to epoxy a single dried rose. Tonight i shall try it out.

@Ethan Hemphill I buy freeze dried flowers from Etsy. This is my favorite seller www.etsy.com/shop/FreshlyPreserved I contacted her directly as I only wanted orchids. Tell her you don't want edible. I paid
$20 + $10 shipping for 20 orchids. I have to warn you that when they arrive they are closed and because they are dry very fragile, but I found the way to open them up without breaking them. I will make a video soon.

this looked great till I read the info on Amazon - sounds even worse than usual epoxy resin, which is dangerous enough without proper PPE.
Info copied below. PPE needed folks, but this looks like an awesome project to do with the proper precautions
Causes serious eye damage. Causes serious eye irritation. Suspected of damaging fertility or the unborn child.

How would you dry an object if the entire thing was coated in resin, and you did not have a bare, unresined spot to clip up to hang and dry?? I have been trying to resin whole pinecones and natural foraged things but have no idea how to dry them without damaging the coat.

I want to use fresh flowers in an art piece so I have to make sure they actually last without being brittle or decaying. Once the flower is dried and the product brushed on like this and hardened can I then dip it in the product or in regular resin so that I make sure the inside is preserved as well. It’s very hard to get a brush into all of the petals of a rose.

  • @kellyflatebo3001

Not too much. Resin figures can be cleaned with water or a whipe but too much water is not good for them you can do it once in a while.

Try using silica gels!! I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago and my entire family was astounded by the end product. They wouldn’t believe it was fully dried

    • @lisamacias-achong7037
      @lisamacias-achong7037 5 месяцев назад

Silica gel dries flowers perfectly BUT the more delicate the flower, the more it'll fall apart when removed. Drying them out makes them ultra thin, paper-like. If you can carefully handle them in that state then apply the epoxy and it'll dry. But in my experience I even skipped the silica gel and went straight to the epoxy and it was slightly stronger (this worked best only on Orchids though)

Would this product work on a vinyl collectible figure? How about a painted & deco taped 1 (metallic pin stripe)? Looking to decorate/mod 1 I bought an extra of & wanted that glossy resin finish over it, also keeping striping tape in place too so it won't peel over time. Thx.
