Your work ethic as a mother, a homemaker, is wonderful to watch and learn from. Too many married ladies are missing out on the joy of homemaking. However, I am seeing a trend in young families today to become more self-sufficient the way God planned it. Thank you for your videos!

I was so upset the other day when you mentioned that someone said you were uneducated. The next time you can tell them you have a masters degree in Culinary Arts, Gardening, Canning, Baking and Farming! I admire your principles, lifestyle and home so very much. I believe it is the true way that God designed and wanted us to live. I didnt want to mention that negativity again but i was sitting here watching you and looking at all you do and can do and then I saw your beautiful flowers they are gorgeous and I havent found the right words for the garden. It is immaculate. Your education goes bwyond books and a classroom and I say thats one of the best kind! Thanks fornyour videos and God bless!

@@mkfurr60 Amen I agree with you totally. It wasn't this post but she told about it in a different post and the more I watch them the more it upsets me that someone could make such derogatory comments. Little did they know they were just thoughtless and uneducated themselves because she has Ioads of knowledge!

All I have to about negative comments!
If you are not in the arena getting your ass kicked on occasion, I am not interested in or open to your feedback. There are a million cheap seats in the world today filled with people who will never be brave with their own lives, but will spend every ounce of energy they have hurling advice and judgement at those of us trying to dare greatly. Their only contributions are criticism, cynicism, and fear-mongering. If you're criticizing from a place where you're not also putting yourself on the line, I'm not interested in your feedback.

Hi Ruthann, I recently found you on RUclips and I sincerely love watching you and your family! My grandmother was raised conservative Brethren in Christ (came for Mennonite background). I was raised on a dairy farm in PA and I miss that life so much! One of the things I especially LOVE about your channel is that you and your family LIVE while filming. You don’t edit out the kids when they walk thru or when they’re heading to bed. Please don’t ever change that, it’s part of draw to your content; at least for me! It’s real life and I love that! Ruthann, I had a bread baking breakthrough today because of this video. I had to find it in my history and come tell you. I didn’t use this recipe, but I TEMPED MY BREAD and it changed everything. I took it out of the oven at like 195 degrees, a full 20 minutes before I usually take it out, and it. Is. Amazing. Who knew I was overcooking my bread by 20 minutes. It wasn’t burned, but it was very hard.. now I know! I will do this forever! (When I was on Instagram, I followed you, but have since quit and I’m so happy to find you here. And now my family will be too with this soft bread. 😂)

In many ways, I almost envy you for your upbringing and teachings from your mother and grandmother. I have had sourdough starters in the past, but ended up neglecting it and letting it die. I am inspired to make another starter and try again. To my knowledge, Neither my mother or grandmother baked anything with yeast.. cornbread being mostly the bread they made. They were both great cooks, though.
I am happy that I’ve become consistent with my baking, but sad that it has taken me so late in life to become proficient with baking. I still struggle with handling pie dough.. my pies are good, but often patchy!! LOL

I made cinnamon raisin for breakfast bread, and regular bread for lunches & supper. I now make it without any fats, as I love the crusty outside, and holy inside. One thing I hadn't done since all 7 kids were home, is build the gluten after putting the starter in..

Some of my favorite memories of my mom from when I was younger was making bread and then dipping the bread in fresh cream and topping it with tomatoes slices from our garden tomatoes. My mom would add some fresh thinly sliced onion from our garden too to hers. I still make bread now because of my daughters soy allergy as the soy free bread is usually quite expensive. So I alternate with homemade bread when I have time. Now my kids are the ones helping with the baking. I’m hoping they have the same good memories as I do.

These might just be the prettiest loaves of bread I’ve ever seen. Your house must smell amazing.

When I use this tiny amount of starter to feed, I add the water to the jar and shake. Then add the flour. Love your routines!

I’ve been making a yeast bread for the last year but I love the idea of using sourdough. Especially with the main work for the bread in the warmer months being in the evenings. It will make homeschool mornings much easier at the beginning and end of the school year if I’m not kneading bread and trying to teach 😅

😊🎉❤ I absolutely loved your parting comment! There is no shame in buying bread or in doing a less complicated recipe. Some homesteaders spread shame, but we are all on different paths at different seasons in our lives. Ages and stages I always say. I have done sourdough on and off over the years. I have had one going for 3 years now, a new record for me. I have yet to find a recipe that I love so I am excited to try this one and see how it goes. My starter is very hungry so I may put this on tomorrow's list. Thank you for encouraging and not shaming 😢😂❤

Hi RuthAnn, Can you pretty please do a video all about your cold room. Like the temperature you keep it at, how you keep it that temperature, you don’t have air conditioning but do you have to use something to keep your cold room cool enough during summer and can it get too cold during winter? Did you make an existing room into your cold room? What are some other styles of cold rooms you’ve seen as alternative options if someone doesn’t have an extra room that would work as a cold room? For example, I do not have a basement.
I’m super curious about all these things 😅 thank you so much for your work…I have learned so so much by watching your channel! Please don’t stop creating content! ❤

Love the trueism, ' Homemade bread has no eternal value'. For the people who stress about having to do everything, this allows them to put aside one thing when over worked in other areas.
I know your life is hard work, but your presentation makes it look so smooth and almost effortless.
I am enjoying all the little tips on the side ie, why and how chickens need to managed so you have control of the eggs.

Love you more is always what I say! Thank you, Ruth Ann for sharing your life! My husband and I have learned so much by watching your videos. If I could only live my life over again….. I’d have my own homestead. We started canning this year seriously and I’m the proud owner of a pressure canner. Not difficult at all! But the tips that I’ve learned from you are priceless! Got the pattern for the apron and plan on dusting off the sewing machine! Everything you do is like a prayer! I’m going to give this bread a try once I figure out the starter. Are you familiar with the pie crust that uses egg and vinegar? My precious mother used this recipe and it’s absolutely delicious. I used to be able to make it just fine, but now it’s really difficult for me to roll out. I always chill the dough and it still falls apart. I know the vinegar breaks down the shortening and my measurements are right. Thought maybe you might know how to resolve this or have heard from others. God bless you and your beautiful family!! I feel like you’re a trusted friend!❤❤❤
