    Ok I cheated. I did the forest image before watching this video and it took me longer than 3 minutes. No recess for me. Outstanding pace and information. The only issue I had today so far is that your raw files are big. I did not crop the forest picture and Ai crashed when I tried to save file as a jpeg. Also had issues trying to email you my edits as the file was too big. I reduced the file and was able to email it.
    Your vignette use was stellar. Seeing you do it was incredible. Incredibly well done and helpful. The magical tool demonstration was also very good. I was afraid to use that tool but seeing how you liked it made me really like it too.
    I promise to do the other 2 images in the 3 minute compliance. Thank you!

      LOL no worries. My files are big? Do you not usually shoot raw format? That's a pretty normal raw file size. Many from Sony full frame cameras are a LOT bigger! As for emailing photos make sure you watch this: ruclips.net/video/WDVhzuZevZc/видео.html

    Excellent tutorial for using Luminar AI. The video was easy to follow. The tips you shared where very helpful, for example: saving favorites, using the crop tool and how to determine what tools have already been applied, to name a few. I have been using Luminar AI. However, your video was still very beneficial for me. I am glad I signed up for the 5-day challenge. Where do we post our edited photos? Thanks.

    I do the major processing in Lightroom and Topaz Denoise. Then I take the photo to Photolemur. If necessary, I bring the image to Luminar AI. Finally, I may further process the image in Topaz Gigapixel and Topaz Sharpening. The very last step is to do any final tweaking in Lightroom. If I just want quick processing, I move a few sliders in Lightroom and finish in Photolemur. It takes a minute.

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  3 года назад

      That seems like a lot of back and forth and work. Isn't Photo Lemur a one-slider app? Whatever it is doing you can do in LR or Luminar as well but with more control. What is the final destination for your images? Are you printing them large? I'm curious why Gigapixel.

    • @Nonduality
      @Nonduality 3 года назад

      @@DigitalPhotoMentor Yes, I might crop fairly deep into an image that I wish to print, say, 16x24", for a gallery that sells my stuff. I don't mind using several software packages for a single image. Whatever works. Often I only use Lightroom and Photolemur.

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor

      @@Nonduality I see. I've never actually even tried Photolemur. Not really much to teach there.

    • @Nonduality
      @Nonduality 3 года назад

      @@DigitalPhotoMentor I bought Photolemur when I saw it demonstrated in a short video. The guy earned a commission selling it. If someone does all their processing in Lightroom and takes it to Photolemur, their photo will get an extra boost. I see that the Photolemur link goes to Luminar AI, so maybe they're phasing it out.

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  3 года назад

      @@Nonduality Yes I think that is the case. It was something they tried but maybe there wasn't enough interest.

    I made it through day 1 but now I have a question. When you make changes to a template, let’s say you added mystical and you added a mask on the mystical and erased some of the effect from the sky and then you saved that as a new template, can you use that template on a completely different landscape? Will it automatically reduce the effect on the sky?

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  3 года назад +1

      I suggest saving it as a template BEFORE you add the mask. Because it will not automatically find the sky in the next image it will apply the mask exactly the same. SO save it as it is and do the mask later. Does that make sense?

    Good video Darlene, but you are mistaken about the radial filter in Lightroom - it can be moved anywhere in the image that you want to place it, even partly off the image.

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  3 года назад

      Thanks Allan, but we're both right! I said you cannot move it using the "post-crop vignette" but yes you can do it with a radial filter. But the vignette tool in LR doesn't allow it.

    • @allancruickshanks6597
      @allancruickshanks6597 3 года назад

      @@DigitalPhotoMentor
      Yes you are correct about the post crop vignette in Lightroom, but if you check at around 15:10 in the video, you actually refer to the radial filter in Lightroom. That was the point of my original comment. I agree that Luminar AI definitely has the advantage when it comes to the placement of the vignette. I am a Lightroom user and just want to be fair and accurate about what Lightroom can do (and what it can't do!!).

    Hello. I have been watching and enjoying your videos. Thank you. I noticed on one of your videos you used a quick key (in Luminar ai) that turned the red mask on and off. But I can now not find it. If I didn't imagine it, can you tell me if there is one and what it is please?

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  3 года назад

      Yes I did, it's the / key but you have to have the mask editor opened for that to work. Not sure it works on Windows I am using Mac.

      Did you try to save the existing raw files as jpegs on your system? If so, I had the same issue. I ended up taking the raw files and converted them to jpeg then brought them into my stand alone AI program. That worked. If I uploaded the raw file, applied all my edits, then tried to export the image, my system crashed like I did last Friday at the local watering hole.

    Hi Darlene, thank you for sharing. I’m about giving up on luminar AI. It’s not working for me at all. Since even the most recent update it’s actually worst. The program takes a very long time to respond to very basic editing.nI really like what this program can do but skylum is not improving the performance at all. I stopped using the program. Is there anything you can advise me to try as a last resort. I”m awfully frstrated.I own a pretty fast pc with core i7, 2.80ghz withb16 gb of ram with a 64 bit operating system. I have no issues usung lightroom as a wedding photographer. Thanks

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  3 года назад

      Yes in fact, I would recommend you pre-order Luminar Neo. They have build a new program because some of the issues in Luminar AI cannot be fixed due to the level of AI in the program and how it's built. I think Luminar Neo will solve your issues: www.digitalphotomentor.com/luminar-neo
