Just discovered this one. Very helpful! I love it when one is taken through the whole post-process, beginning to end. Very useful for picking up tips to make one’s own processing better. Keep up the great work!

Happy New Year to you too Jack. I’ll get back in front of the camera again soon. I need a haircut first 😂 But currently we are in lockdown, and salons are closed, so will be a few weeks until that happens. Thanks for stopping by to say hello. Cheers to 2021.

Hi Marlene- came across your channel when I was checking out how other creatives are using Luminar. If you would like to collaborate on a LuminarAI video, let me know. I've got a project I'm going to work on this summer that will be a lot of fun!

    Hi Marlene,
Great video, really helpful for Folks like me who are just about to embark on a first go at editing!
    Here come a few questions:
    1) as a first venture into editing should I just buy the latest AI version? No other software required?
    2) I shoot with a G9, JPEG only so far(very pleased with results). Should I stick with JPEGS as I venture into editing?
Thanks again for very helpful videos.
    Cheers Nigel

Buy whichever software you need at the moment. I use Adobe LR most of the time. I use Luminar Ai when I need some extra creative juice on a small amount of images. I prefer the catalog system of Adobe LR. And for basic edits it’s much faster than Luminar.
I think you should experiment with jpg + raw and see the benefit of each format. It’s only through experience that we can make our own decisions based on our needs as an artist. Most of all, have fun! Thanks for stopping by to chat 😊

Love your suggestions and pics! I am thinking that my purchase of Luminar 4.3, 4 months before Luminar was put on early sale, has negated a use for Lum 4.3? What are your thoughts on that? Also, I have the G9 like yourself, what would you suggest as a 2nd camera that I only want for photography. I like a backup plan and maybe that's what Lum 4.3 becomes as well. Thank you again for the education you provide and the excitement you create with your illustrations!

Hello @MrFirstdance2000. Thanks for your questions. As for Luminar vs. Luminar AI, I don't think it has negated it completely. But personally, I will likely only use AI going forward as it's not my main photo editing software. Lightroom is. I use Luminar AI (and previously Luminar 4) for adding the pizzaz and creativity to my shots. I find Luminar AI easier to use. It has less tools. It doesn't have layers. And I love the Templates. I use LightRoom for organizing, and basic edits. I made a video about the two here: ruclips.net/video/i6G5EDhPMK8/видео.html I keep Lightroom in the mix because I also shoot video, and neither Luminar product edits or previews video.
Are you looking for a smaller backup camera? Or the same size and capabilities? You could always get another G9. They are dropping in price. Otherwise try the GX9 if you want to stick with M43. It's a bit smaller than the G9. Or the G85. Or other smaller M43 camera. I just got the Lumix G100, but everyone thinks it's a dud. However, I really like it. There are also the high performance Lumix Bridge cameras to consider. The all-in-ones with the long lenses, but smaller sensors like the Lumix FZ300, or FZ1000. Or you can go the pocket route with the ZS200 or the LX100. Lots of choices in small and larger sizes, so it depends what you need your backup for.
Hopefully that gives you some ideas! Thanks for watching and Happy 2020 to you!

@@ImageMaven Thanks! Yes the GX 9 has caught my attention but, being the same cost basically as the G9, I think your suggestion has great merit! A very happy new year to you as well. Thanks so much for your quick response!

Daft question. Do you have to be hooked up to the internet to run this software?

No. Only to download it and in install any updates. Hope that helps.

@@ImageMaven Thankyou kindly. It certainly does help.
I also love my G9 and after 3 years I'm still learning the capabilities of the camera. I've downloaded the PDF manual and using your informative videos certainly does help.
Keep up the good work you have a natural ability to explain the technical aspects in simplistic terms

@@samuelwragg8615 Great to hear from another G9-er. The G9 is definitely a long lasting camera. I'm still learning about it too, and don't laugh, but sometimes I have to watch my own videos to remind myself how to use some of the features. ;) Thanks for stopping by!

Euhm should I buy Luminar 4 or Luminar AI? 😬

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  3 года назад +2

Well that is up to you, but I'm sticking with Luminar AI as it's easier and simpler to use than Luminar 4. But I don't use it for my main photo editing. I use it to add creativity to my shots. I also have Photoshop and Lightroom, so I have a lot of choice. For a beginner though, I'd go with Luminar AI. I made a video comparing Luminar AI with Adobe stuff. If you're interested you can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/i6G5EDhPMK8/видео.html Thanks for watching!
