This is the reason why we, people who play the franchise from the beginning, think TS4 is too easy. You had to work up to get anything like in real life.
100% agree. Which I think why they keep having to come up with expansions quickly to keep us entertained. In sims 1 & 2, your whole focus was getting your needs right for a few days just for one sims day of fun with another sim lol
And it felt more involved and more invested when your third generation into your sim. The whole neighborhood fills and more and more people you interact with. It got to the point that people wanted to Jaeger their character with a VR setup. Would have been a cool idea.
Exactly why I can’t even open the sims 4 it is sooooo boooooring. When it takes time to earn something it is so worth it. I really hope all the good parts of sims 2 and 3 and sims 4 graphics and building are put into the sims 5 😢
As someone who still actively plays the Sims 2, this was a treat Kelsey! 😂 There's mods to fix the resolution, black boxes under their feet, and remove the brightness in cas, plus so many more! And of course cc to make everything look better! I have the ultimate collection and it was fun seeing just the base game!
Mods aren't actually even necessary. The Graphic Rules Maker actually does what I did manually in the program files. It looks fine on my native Win7 upgraded to Win10, but I needed to tweak on my native Win10. I love base game only play sometimes because you have to work harder. I have a TS4 save that is base game only that I play a 100 BC.
And a quick google search will tell how how to fix all those things and get the game running. 😅 It's was great to see her play, but I hope people don't get the impression it's a crashy. buggy mess. TS2 works just fine on modern computers once you set it up properly.
And remember when the newest tech you could buy (with the university pack) was basically a Gameboy, an MP3 player and a flip phone? Lol, those were the days.
Yeah, especially if both parents are working. The game doesn't hold your hand either, you don't hire a babysitter, guess you're losing performance because the games not calling one for you (ala Sims 3). I still love it for that difficulty and come back to it often.
Imagine doing that cheat where teens can get pregnant (i forget if you start them as adults, then delete them via cheats and then age them down to teens when you respawn them) those teens with babies was a WHOLE OTHER MESS 😂 i loved doing that ALL the time cuz the drama
@@kelseydangerous there is a mod that fixes that, though! It's called the community time mod 😄 it makes it so when you go to a community lot, you spend your time with your sim there then when you go back to the home, you can play with the other Sims in your household during that time. There's a timer that says how long the Sims you took out were gone and when they'll be home. It's really good for realistic gameplay and if you have a lot of Sims that you need to move storylines forward for
Kelsey, Plumbella has a playlist called "The Entire History of" about all the Sims lore across the franchise. I've played since 2000 and learned a ton from Jesse's series.
do you happen to know of any other youtubers that did a good job of explaining the lore? for some reason, plumbella's accent makes me want to break things (really not trying to hate, i'm just weirdly sensitive to her voice).
@cryspbacon Not off the top of my head, although someone else commented here with another channel you could check out. (Unless that creator is from Middlesbourgh, too.)
Sims2 everything is a challenge so it depends on how you like you play. I like that it’s more realistic, you don’t immediately become bff with one photo for instance. There’s so many little details of sims2 I feel like sims5 definitely needs!
As someone that exclusively plays Sims 2, this has been painfully funny 😂 Nightlife added cars you could buy so you woulnd't have to wait for the taxi and an chemistry system that would make interactions easier
I still remember watching the stars with my crush in my backyard in Strangetown and just talking about life and things and suddenly being crushed by a satellite
Part of the challenge with relationships in TS2 is you have two relationship bars and how fast they go up depends on how much the other likes you. The sims have to have compatible personalities AND interests (which can be adjusted through reading magazines from the store for instance) and the bottom relationship bar has to be so high before deeper interactions work (or things like best friend or in-love status - if you hover over the symbols it shows a chart!). A lot of this was more intuitive at the time but still much harder game play for sure (lmao I messed up several relationships while learning) - I jumped from TS2 to 4 in like 2019 and when I say I was LOST it does not do it justice 😂 Anyway, this was great and fun! I hope you dabble in this again in the future, I think you could make such fun stories once you get the hang of it - the DRAMA you can have in this game. 👏👌 Thanks for another video! PS The aspiration points you get in this game give you really fun, silly and helpful "cheats" objects! (Treasure-chest thing below the needs tab on the panel). PPS Thanks to anyone who read this infodump lol
I really miss the two-sided relationships. That right there would add so much gameplay. It's more realistic, having a sim want another sims to be in love with them - meanwhile, they can barely stand them 😅 Then again, I'd use Pescado's mod to make a sim spam interactions that would make the other sim like them when I shipped them, so there's that 😅
@@Caitlin12221 I did too. You just have to utilize everything in the game. I would take 1 sip of the Elixir of Life after every pregnancy to simulate not aging in TS4. Learn to make snapdragons and put 5 in each bed room so they wake up completely refreshed. Focus on skills and aspirations. Fun, but not really that hard when you know the mechanics of the game. I would say journalism awards, but actually I prefer my Sims to sleep at least a little bit.
I feel like Goopy was universally hated back in the day, and I guess there were reasons. Also thanks to the aging dynamics in The Sims 2, I used to make matches for my sim kids when they were children by having them pillow-fight with adult sims, they’d get to be best friends and then I’d just wait for my kids to grow up so they could get married. In retrospect, I realize this was problematic 😅

Oh, and the build mode of 4, it's easily the best. I would play the FRICK out of that. :D
Instead of 100 baby challenge, you should do a 10 baby challenge. Play it across sims 1,2,3, and 4 and build the same house using only base game items to see how different the build items are. (I know you did the 100 baby challenge with 4, so maybe just a house build to compare.)
From what I remember, improving your environment and comfort goes a long way to help maintain the Sims needs a lot better. A lot of items have an environment number, so, yeah, sometimes you had to sacrifice aesthetics for the item that made the Sims happier. Same with comfort, chairs, beds, even toilets will have a comfort number.
there is enough at max were you dont really need to sacrifice how stuff looks, in my sims 2 house everything is the highest environment possible but it still looks nice also paintings help a lot as some have 10 environment making sure there is carpet and paint/wallpaper also helps a ton
I love the music in the Sims 2. You heard it non-stop in build/buy mode. The Sims Theme and Sims Heaven were both written by Mark Mothersbaugh from the band Devo. They're both great.
The "rug" is a shadow shader that doesn't load properly on Win10 and Win11 in the sims. You can add in other resolutions in the conf file but it has a chance of crashing the game if you try to force it wide-screen. You can up the resolution in the 4:3 resolution.

Back stories were an illusion and had no real effect during the game. Just like cars in Sims 3 were an illusion, hiding the loading screen in the same way that some games use elevators to hide theirs.
Now I remember why I used to stay up until 4am playing the sims 2 😂 I was so reluctant to play the sims 3 when it first came out, I thought sims 2 was the absolute best back then loooool thanks for playing Kelsey!
I still think Sims 2 is the best tbh. I play both 2 and 4 and Sims 2 is just so good. That map fly over at the opening the town is just so gorgeous 😍 . Not that flat peice of crap in Sims 4.
11:34 Chelsea having a barely functional house but it's time to get pregnant, made me lol. 🤣(Anyone else scared of what the SIms would say to you if they could talk??? 😮)
This made me relive my childhood ❤. I remember going to Blockbuster and seeing the Sims on the shelves which were crazy expensive. I was so excited when I got The Sims 2 for Christmas, my parents totally regretted it when I played it non stop haha
I perfected the art of making two Sims and then telling jokes, chat, flirt, kiss and propose in front of an empty lot within the first day, then building their home
Goopy isn't in the Sims4 but they did sort of mention him in the gourmet cooking skill when you make the Goopy Carbonara. Goopy GilsCarbo = Goopy Carbonara
Give me back the wants and fears of sims2! All my sims4 want to do is buy a bee box or listen to different kinds of music. However, Sim4 CAS and graphics are my favorite. I couldn't even play sims3 cause I hated how the sims looked.
This was such a treat! I grew up playing The Sims 2 on the PS2 and on that version of the game, the UI is actually quite different. There was a campaign mode that I always loved to play. Unfortunately, my copy of the game had a glitch where the save file would go corrupted after a certain point of the campaign. So unfortunately I never finished the full story. The music brings back so many memories!! It would be fun watching you play older Sims games like this one more often!
There are a bunch of tutorials online for ways to "fix" the graphics and in general make Sims 2 run better on our modern PCs! It is a really old game after all, so you need to do some things to make it work properly nowadays. :'D With all the fixes it works really well though and is SO fun to play! :D (I was obsessed with Sims 2 as a child, so I am so happy to be able to play it again now. :D)
@@allisonmcconnell33If you play on a Mac, the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection is still sold in the Mac App store and runs perfectly on modern machines (no fixes needed). If you are on Windows, Google is your friend. The Super Collection on Mac lacks the last two expansions because aspyr never ported those over. And likely never will at this point, sadly.
All you really need is Graphics Rules Maker. I remember when I struggled sooo much and got that. then deleted ever other thing i did and used just Graphics Rules Maker and it worked!! shadows and everything
Funny story,I actually deleted the Sims 4 just to play the Sims 2. I regret nothing!! Edit:You have to get both of them to relax on the bed in order to woohoo 🐱
As someone who pretty much exclusively plays The Sims 2 out of all the Sims games, this was both hilarious and painful. I was definitely resisting the urge to scream advice at my screen a few times. Also, to me, it's not Sims 2 relationships that are too hard, but Sims 4 relationships that are way, WAY too easy!
One thing I love about this game was that if you went on a date you could see the other sim's wants and fears and see if they were into you or not. I wish that was present in all sim games.
As a sims 2 player this was funny as if a bit frustrating. The Sims 2 needs some fixes these days like the black square fix and the overly bright CAS fix. It's to do with the game being too old for modern hardware. There are fixes and mods and CC for everything. Custom skin tones are skins you have downloaded. You can download all the EP's and SP's for free these days no need to buy a base game disk. You need Nightlife EP for chemistry between sims and cars, base game doesn't have that much. It's also easier to socialize if you have all EP's.
I now want a Sims 2 SINGLE baby challenge!!! …It’s a challenge in the Sims 2 where you have one matriarch and they’re supposed to have ONE baby with Goopy. 😂
You have to ask the other Sim to relax on the bed with you and you have to chat a bit BEFORE you get the whoo hoo interaction. She likely could have gotten whoo hoo that night, she was just playing by Sims 4 rules in Sims 2. I actually had a hard time adapting to Sims 4 ways when I started playing it. I now actively play both games, I like that Sims 2 makes you have that step before whoo hoo.
I started playing The Sims 2 when it first came out in 2004. I still play it almost 20 years later. I don't have all the expansions, but I have most of them. I can't imagine going back and playing just the base game again with no expansions. I think it would drive me crazy! I know that Sims 2 expansions are difficult/expensive to get ahold of nowadays, but if you get the chance, I would love to see you play Sims 2 again with at least one expansion and compare it to the Sims 4. I think you'd really love the Nightlife expansion; it allows sims to go on dates and introduces romantic chemistry. It tends to be easier and faster to build relationships between sims who have good chemistry. My favorite Sims 2 expansion is FreeTime. It offers Lifetime Aspiration Benefits which allow you to slow down your sims' need decay (among other helpful perks).
I played The Sims 2 a few times when I was in grade school, but I played a of Sims 3: Pets & now I'm playing Sims: 4. The nostalgia just keeps creeping back! lol
Your Sim has to relax on the bed, invite the other sims (gloopy) to come relax on the bed then Woohoo becomes an option if I remember right. Some one let me know if I'm wrong. Anyway, I played this game a lot in college and with my sister on summer break, Thank you for bringing back those memories.
If I remember correctly, grocery deliveries are under the “service” option on the phone. You’re absolutely right about the older games not being as intuitive 😂
Im invested in this now, it doesnt have to be a 100 baby challenge but please play some more sims 2! Im invested in the Goop man, the goopenator, mister goopy. Lolol
Sims 2 made you work for just about everything. However as you acquire better items needs fill much faster. So if you get a few cooking skill points you can make meals that fill you entire hunger motive more quikly. You selected all the cheap furniture naturally but more expensive furniture will fill needs faster. Basially Sims 2 out of the box is the rags to riches challenges. Also there's a ton more to get into with different aspiration rewards to offset motives. etc... I'd definitely recommend revisiting, especially if you can add some of the expansion packs you barely scratched the surface with this play.
THIS IS THE CONTENT I NEEDED!!! I miss the sims 2. I started playing sims 2 right before sims 3 came out and then when the sims 3 first came out it was horrible so i went back to playing sims 2
I got inspired to play again after watching you but I find the new sims too complicated for my taste and I recently downloaded the sims 2 with all expansion packs 😍😍😍😍 I am so happy you are uploading this!!!!!!!
Haha definitely nostalgic and entertaining now seeing all the old stuff that wasn’t old back then (phone, outfits etc) and just how different it is from sims 4
@@hollyheaphy1370 it's a a type of legacy challenge where each generation takes place in a different decade starts in the 1890s and the rules have been updated for the 2020s. It's a type of challenge that is better with custom content to properly reflect the decades but could possibly be done without. And everytime there's a war you have the male sims take their chances with a cowplant.
TS2 (and TS3) were SO much more superior to TS4. TS4 is just so easy, your entire life can happen within a few hours of gameplay and that gets boring SO fast. Not to mention the lack of details in gameplay. The grocery store was such a cute highly detailed aspect of the game. To think that THIS is the base game for a game that’s some 20 years old but TS4 had like what 5 lots, and no toddlers ? f that.
I've been playing the Sims for 22 years now, so since the very first one came out. And I miss the Sims 1 & 2 so much, never played 3, but I okay 4 constantly. I miss 1 the most, fondest memories there.
It’s interesting- some people dislike sims 4 for being more of a dollhouse and praise 2 for being a challenging game in itself and a more realistic life simulator, but you’re getting frustrated with 2 because dollhouse is what you actually want in your sims game It’s like how many people who dislike Sherlock (a very flawed show) we’re going in expecting a mystery story and got a character drama, whereas people who liked the show liked the character drama and didn’t mind that the mysteries weren’t solveable for the audience
The sims 2 always have fascinating gameplay than the sima 4 imo. Sims 2 graphic is nothing to conpare the sims 4 but the gameplay and the animation is chef's kiss
I remember when playing the sims 2 it was so much harder to keep my sims happy and to keep good relationships with other sims. And every tasks took longer too😂 but I still loved the game so much 😊
I've wondered why my gameplay style back in my Sims days is so different from what I see on RUclips today. All that story based gameplay, while I spent 90% of the time fulfilling needs and saving for a decent household. Now I know why, The Sims 2 was just like that. Tbh I liked it that way, it was more challenging. Once you had better appliances and furniture it also got a lot easier. So when I wanted to play more story, I cheated money for better stuff
I remember The Sims 1 and its premiere :D I was huge fan of The Sims 1 and 2. I still have CDs/DVDs of all expansion/stuff packs. Now I play The Sims 4 (third wasn't my favorite - I have only base game and 3 DLC). Well... I am old :D
Have all the sims games and not really a fan of sims 3 & 4, sims 2 will always have a special place in my heart since it was my first introduction to the sims

Kelsey you forgot to download/run "Graphics Rules" ...with that you could play this game with better resolution since it helps game to recognize your gpu 😓
For gameplay sims 2 is still my all time fave to play. Sims 4 I only really use for building. I think goopy may not have been attracted to you… you scope the room or click on a sim and check them out to find out who your sim likes and romance will come much easier. Though you do have to be in love to woohoo
I LOVE this sims 2 has so much nostalgia for me. I think you SHOULD do the 100 baby challenge in the sims 2, but use need cheats (it’s really the only way to play sims 2) and you GOTTA have the romantic aspiration not the family one

This made me relive my childhood ❤. I remember going to Blockbuster and seeing the Sims on the shelves which were crazy expensive. I was so excited when I got The Sims 2 for Christmas, my parents totally regretted it when I played it non stop haha
THAT INTRO MUSIC!!!! The music is the best in Sims 2 University.
Chelsea is so brave for wanting to seduce Goopy.. imagine having to say that name during WooHoo 💀
I forgot about Goopy!!!!!
I had Brandi Broke marry Goopy 😂😂😂
PFFF (spit-take laughs) Now THAT'S a mental image I needed in my life but didn't know I did. Thank you. XD
PLEASE do more of these with Sims 2, this was very fun and nostalgic
Give me back the wants and fears of sims2! All my sims4 want to do is buy a bee box or listen to different kinds of music. However, Sim4 CAS and graphics are my favorite. I couldn't even play sims3 cause I hated how the sims looked.
Sims 2 music just feels nostalgic for me... the memory of playing and building stuffs with those music playing in the background 🥺
I remember when I first got my the sims 2 double deluxe version for my birthday😍 What a memories
This was my childhood! Would love to see Kelsey try to complete a challenge or something with this version.
Where can you get it now?
@@allisonmcconnell33 The game itself or the tutorials? I am sure google can help you! For tutorials I would recommend Pleasant Sims!
Kelsey! 😮 you forgot to add a wraith to the Occult baby challenge. Plumbella shows you how to have the baby on her channel if you’re curious.
Bump
I would absolutely love to see more sims 2 content. So nostalgic for me and love remembering the things in the game.
Funny story,I actually deleted the Sims 4 just to play the Sims 2. I regret nothing!!
Edit:You have to get both of them to relax on the bed in order to woohoo 🐱
As you should 😍
Lol this is ingrained in my brain! I still sometimes think that I have to do that in ts4
@@agatha1812 😂
@@agatha1812 I was just thinking “do you not have to do that in sims 4 🤔”
I was screaming that in my mind as I watched
As someone who pretty much exclusively plays The Sims 2 out of all the Sims games, this was both hilarious and painful. I was definitely resisting the urge to scream advice at my screen a few times. Also, to me, it's not Sims 2 relationships that are too hard, but Sims 4 relationships that are way, WAY too easy!
One thing I love about this game was that if you went on a date you could see the other sim's wants and fears and see if they were into you or not. I wish that was present in all sim games.
Some years ago Origin gave The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection for free. It had base game and every single dlc in same file. I still play it.
The nostalgia just keeps creeping back! lol
Just hearing the music reminded me of the thousands of hours I must have spent grinding sims' needs in my adolescence. Amazing.
Such a nostalgia rush. I love this. Thank you from a fellow Kelsey
"Get that Goop on my LIPS bro! You MOISTURIZE me!" Kelsey you can't make me laugh this hard I'm pretty sure it's attempted manslaughter
You should make this a series!❤
“What else you got long, Benjamin?” 😂😂😂
When I just watch the intro I know this video is going to be fun 😂😜
The aspiration points can be used for money trees and magic gadgets like elixir of life :0
Sims 2 was my childhood! I feel super old 😂😂 I still have the cds for the base game and night life 😅
If I remember correctly, grocery deliveries are under the “service” option on the phone. You’re absolutely right about the older games not being as intuitive 😂
Nope, delivery would usually be the right option.
this was thoroughly entertaining Kelsey, thank you! 😭
Omg this was so nostalgic for me. I've played since the sims 1 but love all of them. This made me wanna download the sims 2 back on my computer again😁
Same
I got inspired to play again after watching you but I find the new sims too complicated for my taste and I recently downloaded the sims 2 with all expansion packs 😍😍😍😍 I am so happy you are uploading this!!!!!!!
how were you able to download? i miss the sims 2 sooo much!
Yes I’m wondering too!
I got mine from oldgamesdownload
Haha definitely nostalgic and entertaining now seeing all the old stuff that wasn’t old back then (phone, outfits etc) and just how different it is from sims 4
So we're just gonna skip past what Kelsey said to Benjamin Long 😂😂😂😂 that was WILD 😂
I’d love to see more sims 2, Kelsey!!!
Requesting to put Goopy in the next Sims 4 lets play
Your next let's play challenge should be the decades challenge.
What is that
@@hollyheaphy1370 it's a a type of legacy challenge where each generation takes place in a different decade starts in the 1890s and the rules have been updated for the 2020s. It's a type of challenge that is better with custom content to properly reflect the decades but could possibly be done without. And everytime there's a war you have the male sims take their chances with a cowplant.

@@etharp93 massive yes please
@@etharp93 yes, I love this!
It’s interesting- some people dislike sims 4 for being more of a dollhouse and praise 2 for being a challenging game in itself and a more realistic life simulator, but you’re getting frustrated with 2 because dollhouse is what you actually want in your sims game
It’s like how many people who dislike Sherlock (a very flawed show) we’re going in expecting a mystery story and got a character drama, whereas people who liked the show liked the character drama and didn’t mind that the mysteries weren’t solveable for the audience
My dog is nicknamed Goopy, and he was freaking out this entire vid trying to figure out who was calling him
Can we talk about how the music when you opened the town brought me back to sneaking playing this game when I was 14 at midnight haha
Oh my god i want this to be a series lol it’s so chaotic 😂
The sims 2 always have fascinating gameplay than the sima 4 imo. Sims 2 graphic is nothing to conpare the sims 4 but the gameplay and the animation is chef's kiss
I remember when playing the sims 2 it was so much harder to keep my sims happy and to keep good relationships with other sims. And every tasks took longer too😂 but I still loved the game so much 😊
This video made me so happy, I was literally jumping when I saw that you played TS2!
I played the sims 2 for hours back in the day I loved that game
I remember The Sims 1 and its premiere :D I was huge fan of The Sims 1 and 2. I still have CDs/DVDs of all expansion/stuff packs. Now I play The Sims 4 (third wasn't my favorite - I have only base game and 3 DLC). Well... I am old :D
Have all the sims games and not really a fan of sims 3 & 4, sims 2 will always have a special place in my heart since it was my first introduction to the sims
"A little less intuitive in terms on clicking where everything goes" While missing the huge button of literally a family while trying to find how to create a family...
Kelsey you forgot to download/run "Graphics Rules" ...with that you could play this game with better resolution since it helps game to recognize your gpu 😓
LOVE THIS!!! i started playing sims 2 on PS2, and this is so much better!!!! Please do this more often! ❤
The computer - is the computer I used to play the sims 2 on 😂 it was relatable!
The Sims 2 expansions are definitely the best ones in my opinion!! ❤️ Really loved this throwback 😊
Ugh so nostalgic! This is the game I played all the time and I totally forgot what it looked like until this video. It’s amazing.
My mom and I used to be so into Sims, she even built items for the game. Her entire computer memory was basically sims lol
As a sims 2 player, this is very funny to watch seeing a sims 4 player play this but also alittle frustrating 😂
It was very frustrating
Sleeping with your teacher in sims2 university would raise your grades. 😅
My alltime fav game is Urbz Sims in the City. On EVERY Console. I just looooooooove it !!!!
I love this! The intro, music, and loading screen bring back memories! I played hours upon hours of Sims 2 and it will always be my favorite Sims, you just have to know how to navigate it😅
this was so funny 😂 i forgot how hard the sims 2 was 😩
This was so fun to see again!! It was so cute but sooo impractical and frustrating lol Loved this video! ❤️
