This was a very visually appealing show, that had me bobbing my head to the rhythm, and surprising me with unexpected twists. Well done, Matrix. Well done.
Oh my god!!! I thought it was pretty cool how they painted eachother and stuff, but then at the end with the paint....holy crap....but that footwork was pretty cool too...props really pulled this one together...holy crap..
This tenor book was written by God himself. Jesus this must have been a blast to play for those boys. Snare book was well a normal book for WGI, basses, ok respect. But the tenors. My God just yeah
That tenor line was the best tenor line I've ever seen!!! Better than the cadets and blue devils combined!! That was insane!! I want the sheet music to this!!! Lol
The unfortunate thing for them was that pretty much any other year and they would have, but the top 3 from 2013 were not in question from the beginning. A league of difference between 4th and 3rd in 2013.
They are so much more impressive in person!! We competed at some of their shows and 2 of their members have come in and instructed our high school drum line :) these people are awesome!
I've seen my fair share of wgi shows, including the last four years live in Dayton, and this is one of my favorite shows ever. I can always appreciate excellence in drumming/music, but GE is above everything else for me. I judge shows by the goosebumps or "FUCK YEAH!"s I exclaim out loud, and they were plentiful in this show. Extremely well executed.
Jared - The paint was actually water, corn starch, and food coloring, and was easily washable. In fact, you may notice at the end that the back curtain got a little on it. They had to clean that off before the next group came on to avoid a penalty and were able to do so without cleaning stuff.
Out of curiosity, have you read the sheets? I know when we first did at Gateway, I was surprised to see that there isn't much in it that accounts for crowd reaction. He judged it right, but the sheets are wrong in my opinion.
Crowd reaction should never account for much. There may be some visual gimmickry that could drive crowds crazy, but the actual musical performance is dull, and sometimes even dirty. A great example is Aimachi. In 2006 the spinning tenors drove the crowd absolutely batshit crazy. Their actual musical performance was bland and even dirty at times. The ninja, while an innovative visual/staging design, was crap musically.
If this was the 4th place I will now look for 1st... one does not need to be huge drumline fan to understand those drummers PLAYS AS A HELL!! extremely cool!
i guess dubstep is a variation of techno. But not everyone has each individual syllable of a skrillex song on individual keys that they have to play in time with the ensemble.

One of the Marimba players in this show came to my band camp this year and was the percussion instructor for the week, awesome guy, and awesome show.
That's awesome. One of the guys on snare here is our new percussion tech and he's amazing.

Favorite show of the year!!
Guys, that was absolutely percussion perfection out there. I loved it!!! Drumline forever. :)

My favorite show of all time. This should have at least medaled.
The unfortunate thing for them was that pretty much any other year and they would have, but the top 3 from 2013 were not in question from the beginning. A league of difference between 4th and 3rd in 2013.
Xtrovid What were the top 5 that year?
1: Rhythm X
2: Riverside City
3: Music City Mystique
4: Matrix
5: Pulse
Xtrovid Riverside Community College*

My favourite WGI show by far.
Ohio might not be useful for much, but we have Matrix and Rhythm X.
That's more than what can be said for Colorado.
and Bluecoats
tonythehawk7 and Cap City and Connexus :)
And Bob Evans.
Greatest WGI Independent Drumline show of all-time, no doubt about it.
Probably the most badass show i've ever seen...
Beautiful show. Love it.
Me 2 very great
I really like the closer they used that was awesome
This was amazing!!!

I've never seen a tenor section get to have more fun than that. Why didn't I try out for them...
God those basses!!! Daaaamn
Their dynamics and timing are perfect
すごすぎる!!! いいねぇー!!!!
ohhhh I saw matrix and I guess I automatically assumed the show was about the matrix. I was really confused lol thank you
Amazing!
Their front ensemble is fantastic. The marimbas play nothing but permutations for almost the entire show.
Hey that looks fun!
Dang when the marimbas was playing with it covered :o
Skrillex is a real musician. His profession is making music.
Love it!!!
ROB is so great!
ik rt he writes for my school and our book this season was crazy
Richard Orr he taught me on the youngstown state university snare line. We also got a Dynasty endorsement. He always had wise guidance. Great guy
The fact that this didn't medal is ridicules best tenor line that year only group that was close was pulse
Damien masterson must have missed all the GE that was practically pouring out of the arena during our show.

This is why Matrix kicks ass. No theatre bullshit, no gimmicks, just straight up BADASS music.

wait damien judged this show?
@@Inspadave You have a great way with words. Please explain what was dull and dirty here?
AMAZING
SO awesome
Saw the prelims show live with my drumline. Our instructor plays marimba for Matrix. Anyways, prelims performance was much better.
Epic... one day ill be a B.A. WGI drummer maybe i hope kinda yeah
The crowd flipped shit at the end, scattered orgasms everywhere, it was insane!
I have a feeling this is where the phantomettes go in the winter time haha
yes, we used "with you, friends" by skrillex
โหด ดี ครับๆ ชอบลูกเล่น อะ ครับๆ
I didn't know the blue man group performs at WGI!
That ballad though >
insane!!!!!!!
see you at auditions!
If i was the visual judge I would've lost it
It came off without any problems.
Jup, you're right.
Origional much?? I love it!! I bet the paint was rough to clean up but worth it in the end
If this was the 4th place I will now look for 1st... one does not need to be huge drumline fan to understand those drummers PLAYS AS A HELL!! extremely cool!
1st place was rhythm x
Their show was "the man in the arena"
Watch it
Another show I would recommend would be MCM 2011 "Mantra" Many, myself included, will argue that as the greatest show of all time.
mj jr
thanks
Xtrovid
thanks !
They are only smiling because they know that they are better than us :)
He didn't say he disliked all VOs, just the ones in this show. I loved the show and the VOs, though, to each his own I suppose.
it was pretty simple, and a lot easier with some generous alumni helping out.
my drum tech is there drum tech :3
I've marched with two phantomettes at matrix, so he isn't wrong.
I love you...
i talked to the drum tech in the lot, it was just a mix of water and flour
TALK ABOUT THAT TENOR ROLL IN THE CLOSER. MAN IT WAS SMOKIN CLEAN.
or was it...?
Anybody know what song they used for the ballad. its majestic
fair enough
Did they get the Cutest Bassline Award too
(-;THE DOPE SHOW;-)
whoever wrote that quad book mustve been on some very aggressive ganja...
i swear its like the girls level of prettiness is part of their auditioning process cx
One does not simply have a wgi show without techno
fun fact: they actually sold the quads with the paint on them as well as the bass drums.
Uh, yep.
A lot of shows kind of go past me, but this was by far the coolest WGI show I've seen, the paint at the end was totally unexpected!
That song is weekends
All I see at 6:56 is the guy in the white shirt in the audience going NUTS
could you upload the Daniel Boone video :-)
nah most of them went to Redline :( now most of them go to MCM
.....Can i move to Ohio? Please?
Sure! Come join the party!
Well It's really the base of the hole show, to pull it all together, and Skrillex never makes anything worse
why did it stand skrillex at the floor???!!!! im a HUGE skrillex fan
Dude at 6:56 loses his shit (in stands)
Flour and water, actually. With food coloring and baby soap.
i guess dubstep is a variation of techno. But not everyone has each individual syllable of a skrillex song on individual keys that they have to play in time with the ensemble.
Skrillex would be proud...:)
Hey now. They were MOSTLY clean.
Is there a caption for most attractive group?
Hahaha, everytime I watch it I try to listen as hard as I can, but there's just no way you can hear it.
epic
Hopefully that's washable paint. It probably is. But it must suck getting it off the tenors
And the tarp
HD plx!
Has anyone transcribed any of this?
Prelims wasn't even close
Haha that would definitely cause some confusion
This paint = Flour and water.
Came off with a rag and warm water.
It's corn starch
What about making a separate account just to upload wgi videos? Then if you get caught and the account gets banned you still have this one.
could u put it up as a torrent on the thepiratebay.sx then?
and how do you think they got it off the floor every night for three days..?
I wonder how expensive this show was to license.
could you upload RCC?
I hope that paint is non-toxic :P
Will u be uploading the Pulse show?
idk i have everything but im scared that ill get a copyright strike if i upload. im a partner so i could lose that too :(
I hope the floor had a non-stain coating.
How do they just throw paint everywhere? That has to be really hard to clean right?
getting new drums?
