Been watching Aimachi since a 2003 visit to Nagoya, and just happened to see them rehearsing for a competition. Blown away then, blown away now....Never bored watching them perform. Very active, creative, and too bad they don't compete in DCI with their full color guard and horn line.
Because they were clean. As hell. As never before seen. IT doesn't matter how hard what you're playing is if no one can tell what it is. I loved MCM's show (I'm a pit freak) but I acknowledge that Rythym X deserved every point they got.
So apparently they all play percussion? I really liked how one guy played the tenor solo then ran over to bass 1 an started playing. An everyone running an switching. Truly exciting
seems like you need also be a martial artist or a gymnast to be part of aimachi as well. what is next. have the snare line do flips from drum to drum to play there rhythm?
"Percussion ensembles from the United States composed of members not over 22 years of age as of March 31st of any given year shall be permitted to compete in contests governed by WGI. Each ensemble appearing at a WGI contest shall be prepared to show proof of age. International percussion ensembles are NOT bound by any age limit and must compete in the independent classes." I'll admit it, I was wrong. Thanks for pointing this out to me. But they are allowed to win, so that point is still moot.
I would really like to get a tshirt with Aimachi on it but i cant find any on the internet :( Does anyone know a website where i could get a shirt from?
David Gibbs So thats what i thought but i just went through the entire OST and i can't find it. do you know an episode that plays it or perhaps the situation
They can't. Since their an all age ensemble. USA is the only place in the world that has an age out rule. However they still want the competition to be open to other countries. So they're allowed to compete but they can't win because of that rule. But if they get 2nd they probably did win.
I REALLY like this group, but when will they learn that just because you have the largest amount of people on the floor you're not going to win. I think if they had a less busy show (fewer performers) they might have received a higher score.
bitemymiss Ya, visually they were stellar, and it is incredible that they could get such a high visual score with such a non traditional show. Everything was mediocre for a world line accept their visual GE. Sorry.
luxypenguin It's not all about tradition it's also about innovation. They did something new and did it almost flawlessly, giving them the edge they needed for that score. Tradition is nice but doing things the same all the time gets quiet boring.
I still think that pulse or rhythm x should have won not them no offence at all good show but just rolling a snare is ok a snare upside down and being played and spinning is cool so yea don't hate me reply what you think
Wow. They really broke the mold with this show. The choreography and drill are unbelievable.
Aimachi never fails to amaze me. Spectacular

Japan is getting way better at this really quickly! This show is outstanding.
How did they not get fan favorite?!

Wow hey this is new to me! thanks for the info!
Saw this show in Dayton. One of the best groups out there
I was there too!
So apparently they all play percussion? I really liked how one guy played the tenor solo then ran over to bass 1 an started playing. An everyone running an switching. Truly exciting
best part about aimachi. NO SAMPLES.
Got to see them preform this live in Japan....OMG
I remember helping them down the tunnel during their prelims performance and boy I thought I was a short Asian but dude they were freaking tiny!!!!!
yes yes yes yes YES YES YESSSSSS
ninja drummers... lets go Aimachi
wow they spin baton like everywhere regardless if its color guard or not xD
THUMBS UP FOR THEM TO WIN A MEDAL!!!!
To the guy who was looking for an aimachi shirt I got one but I bought it in japan from the band after we won the world championship
they did in 2000,06,and 08
beat Rythym X. Un-doable this year, that show was incredible.
斬新ー!!!!!
hahaha the announcer butchered the japanese pronunciation
starting at 2:33, you know you're a hit, when the tin man gives you a standing ovation!!!
2:30 .... even Infinity was probably like OMGWTF
Oh my god.
What do they have to freaking do to win first?!?!?!?!
general effect
then what about groups like Drum Spirit from Belgium in 2010. Or even look at some old Aimachi videos some of those people look waaaayy older than 22.
General Effect
Nice pit

Skill level- asian

Does anyone what the name of the song, or what anime the tune at 4:33 is?
naruto
David Gibbs So thats what i thought but i just went through the entire OST and i can't find it. do you know an episode that plays it or perhaps the situation
Senya Itachi Theme
thank you thank you
Play clean.
so who caught the naruto song being played?
They have to be, though. It is simply that some look older. Otherwise they would be instantly disqualified.
sometimes i wonder if the some of these judges are getting paid off.
Japan be like..."innovate it? We'll reinvent it"
According to the scoresheet
They placed 3rd in music, 7th in performance analysis, and 5TH in VISUAL
What the fuck?
march with drums on... lol

what is GE?
Their drums are in stands and the beat pulse in visual. Wut.
Did you not see everything else that was going on? It isn't just about who does the best poses. Aimachi had non-playing performance as well.

luxypenguin That's their entire existence: all their shows are like this: massive visual GE fests
Really? At what point?
not break every rule in WGI...haha
carry their drums (kidding)
I still think that pulse or rhythm x should have won not them no offence at all good show but just rolling a snare is ok a snare upside down and being played and spinning is cool so yea don't hate me reply what you think
jojo puppet workshop Rhythm X did win that year. Aimachi placed 6th in 2013.
Rob Cartwright oh lol
this is actually completely false. WGI has an age-out rule that Aimachi completely abides by. Other wise they wouldn't be allowed to compete. Period.
Play harder music. Yes, their GE is amazing, but they need a more difficult book.
play more notes and focus less on visuals...not that anyone could ever complain.
