one of my favourite solo piano works by reger, along with the Bach variations. these preludes and fugues are so masterfully crafted, and regers phenomenal contrapuntal skill is perfectly on display in these pieces. reger never fails to amaze me with his fascinating harmonies and modern baroque style. I would love to have been taught harmony and counterpoint by him, he obviously had a truly deep and most of all unique understanding of it. Beckers recording is also incredible, besides the technical prowess (wow, that dexterity and lightness in the d major prelude) this recording also reveals great musical and contrapuntal understanding and intuition. will definitely come back to this, and also seek out other Becker-reger recordings!
Unbedingt! Ist die Box auch von Markus Becker? Soweit ich weiß, hat er alles eingespielt. Er hat wirklich die regersche musikalische Sprache durchdrungen, lässt sich unterhaltsame Freiheiten aber auch nicht entgehen. :)
Ich würde sagen eine typische langsame Regerfuge wie op. 56/5.2, 60,3, 63/10, 92/2, 127/3 (zweites Thema), 129/2 oder erstes Fugenthema aus 135b. Aber stimmt, der Charakter ist ähnlich, vielleicht wegen der Tonart? 🙃

Die h-moll Fuge klingt aber dermaßen nach der Schlußfuge aus op.81

0:32 - 0:38 sounds like something Beethoven would write in his Diabelli Variations
I don't know that work so well but could be :D It's not uncommon for Reger btw, compare it with the ending of op. 80/11 if you like ;)
