Welcome to Chasing Latitudes! Have you ever imagined the smell of the ocean air as your boat crashes through the waves? The freedom that comes from casting off the bow lines and heading out to sea to explore new places you can’t reach by car or airplane? Then this channel is for you.
You will not see white sand beaches here, restaurant reviews, beach parties, selfies or Japanese knives. What you will find is factual information based on decades of sailing experience.
My channel is specifically meant for one thing and one thing only, to help YOU find your new to you fancy-dancy yacht of your dreams and get on the water in the fastest, most time efficient manner.
Don’t get caught up in looking at old boats! I focus on mostly newer vessels, built in 2000 or later because I want you to spend as much of your time as possible sailing, not practicing your restoration skills on an old boat attempting to bring it to its former glory.
You want to take advantage of the amazing newer technology and modern hull designs when it comes to sailing. This is going to make your vessel far easier to sail solol or short handed and make them far more comfortable and efficient to live aboard full time or even just weekenders without buying more boat than you need.
I offer a wide variety of services including consulting where I will take you through the entire process of how to budget properly, choosing what vessel size will work for your needs, what type of vessel, I will help you shop for vessels, determine offer prices, schedule surveys, talk with brokers, teach you how to do your own pre-survey, walk you through hiring the correct surveyor and help you avoid all of the common pitfalls that you will find when purchasing used sailing vessels.
The consulting does not stop there, I will be with you every step of the way and long after you have purchased your vessel as consulting also comes with lifetime access to the members area,.
Chasing Latitudes hosts a large, active private members area where the members are more than happy to offer their own experience to solve problems, host private videos for ASA Sailing quizzes (ASA 101, 103, & 104), and live stream videos which feature anything from member cruising to boat shopping, boat comparisons, and other live content with chat from the subscribers to my RUclips channel and channel members.
It’s time for YOU to get on the water. Come aboard!
Been there done that a few times with the older boat fixer upper 😂 never again. You are waisting your time not sailing and spending extra, extra, extra money trying to get it up to speed cramming in a water maker, generator, AC units and now all that storage space is gone. This excellent information.
Just love your honesty, and not giving a crap about what people think of your comments :)
I'm a diamond in the rough 🤣🤣
Hi, I've been following your channel for a few months and plan on purchasing a boat this summer or fall. I live in The Lower Keys and am selling my home for world cruising.
Thanks for all the info.
Great descriptions and off the cuff comments….🤣🤣🤣
Great Video, can’t wait till I’m able to leave Canada, will definitely be hiring for you consultation when I’m ready to purchase to a boat.
Thank you
I like your videos, but as a sailor of 50 + years sailing, the prices you quote are too expensive for most of us grassroots sailors, AND.....older boats CAN be quite usable...
You've shattered some of my most cherished illusions. Many thanks.
Paraphrasing the old W.C. Fields quip; ‘Any man who hates Lady K Sailing can’t be all bad’. 😄
Ha, thank you
Lol why is everyone one hating on this guy?

Dig on your razor sharp sales reviews and laughs you provide along the way. The search for a boat in Hawaii- where boats come to die - is a big fat challenge. Great news that prices are finally on the decline!
Yeah bro, Hawaii is tough and you summed it up perfectly , where boats come to die
I don't see the appeal. Any transatlantic boat seems to cost $150000+ before refitting, taxes, mooring.... Why not just charter? $50,000 in charter and travel fees will get you into some nice places. $80,000 and we include Europe. I guess if you really want to see the Atlantic or Pacific just throw some money at someone delivering a boat.
Can you show me 40 ft boats? price range nearer 100K or less. do you have a video for that? I will look but your recommendation would help.
Ok dude, keep the trash talk under wraps. Seems you are crashing.
What trash talk clown 🤡
Refreshing,
I don't know anything about the technical intricacies of in mast furlers or in boom furlers, but I do like the idea of not having to screw around with lazy jack lines, or sail bags.
Have you done a video about the differences between in boom or in mast?
I genuinely would like to hear you opinion on the newer roller systems as I thought that mast furlers would put extra moment on the center of gravity.
Cheers!
In mast
Chris is giving it to us straight no chaser Lol!!!! He's as informative as he is funny. Thanks for the content!
Chris can you do a video on Wharrams?
Well done, Chris! Always enjoy the videos.
Thank you
I would have been really interested in this , except Chris destroyed my dreams of a 45CC. With all his ridiculously illuminating talk on hall-out fees and docking prices. The ruiner of dreams. Not to mention describing what it’s like to sail in a CC. Thanks for the reality check or something
@@larkangel6593 “think pendulum” I believe he used to describe being in a CC. I can’t stand this guy. But I can’t stop watching either.
This is why we come here.
The ugly brutal truth
@@doodlegassum6959 yes sir
Greetings from Prague...another great video..can't wait to buy with you in September
so lady k's first name is apparently absolute clown
Seems legit
Shame shame shame on you! Lady K is the heart of youtube sailing information! He has many years of sailing experience and is a yacht club member.
lady K is an absolute plebe, considering he has copied dozens of my videos almost verbatim, never crossed an ocean, never even sailed blue water, owns a complete dumpster of a vessel. yeah no hes a moron
😃👍👏👏👏
Whoop whoop
I saw a video on YT titled "Top 5 saiboats under $50K in California." The number 1 choice was a Baba 30. I about fell out my chair. Tell me you know nothing about sailing in California without telling me.
Haha 😂😂 that's amazing
@@ChasingLatitudes Catalina, Ericson, even a Sabre were on the list. Nope. The Baba is #1. LOL.
You are a legend. 😎👍
waterbed lol
I totally understand your logic, I’m just watching sailing UMA’S ultrasound video, I realize they make money off refit videos, but if your love is sailing, why waste so much money and time on such an old boat, after a decade on that boat and doing you tube videos. Certainly they could be in a much better quality boat and more comfortable boat that they could grow into, let’s say if they wanted or had a kid or two, even one kid will be too much for that boat. Of to each their own, I just don’t see the logic, they’d still get views and maybe more if they were sailing, I don’t mind refit videos, but I don’t follow them for months or years, I watch the tear down sometimes and the end result the rest to me gets boring. I would personally rather watch them travel around as I can’t so it’s nice to see other places even if it’s through other people.
Hey Chris, do you accept bitcoin for the 24/7 consulting package? There's no time limit on when you have to use the service, correct?
Saw an ad " budget blue water sailboat " not an excellent idea. Sam Holmes pulls it off. Don't think I can. Lots of ads reduced. Good to see!!
🏊🏊♂🏊♀🩱
You should call them dumpster fires😂
True
Great video. Thanks for the great info.
Thank you
Another terrific video! Learning so much. Thanks.
I would like a sailboat please
🤣
Haha, I love the comments and agree.
Thank God I found this channel.
I thought the separation distance was suppose to be less than 5 feet. Did you increase it to 6 feet because the episode was reviewing larger boats compared to your usual videos?
Ideally 5 or less, worst case I'd go 6 and there would have to be other factors for me to make that choice
Another 6-8 months and the price will be half of today's
Not sure what evidence you have for this. Sure loan rates are high but there’s also seller financing which gives sellers steady fixed income.
Agreed
I like what the you tube channel (spirit animal) did with their V birth, took two cabins and tore down the wall and made one cabin, quite the difference.
most modern sailboats that is just a normal option
Don't sail off the edge.
My great concern with a sailboat purchase is the depreciation.
Not sure what a good approach to address depreciation would be.
Don't buy new , but something 8 to ten years old , that way you won't get hit to bad
you accept that this something to enjoy and will be worthless when you are done essentially. so you buy it to use not sit
Why can’t I access the same data as you do on sailboatdata
I assume user error ?
@Chris, I registered as a patreon, paid the $16 and change…but I can’t log into the members area not sure what the problem is.
Send me an email, there is a link on patreon to get to the members area but send me an email of your having issues
@@ChasingLatitudes how do I get your email, all saw was how to become a patron
@@ChasingLatitudes I think I sent you an email, not a 100% sure, I have a reply saying I’m a patreon; but I still can’t log in to the members area, not sure what’s going on.
😂 no fluff love it
All the brokers are crying from your mean comments :-) I like the reality check humor.
