I wonder if we'll smile in our coffins
While loved ones mourn the day,
    The absence of our faces,
    Living, laughing, eyes awake
Is this too much for them to take?
Too young for one's conclusion, the lifestyle won
Such values you taught your son
    That's how
    Look at me now
    I'm broken
    Inherit my life
One day we all will die, a cliched fact of life
Force fed to make us heed
    Inbred to sponge our bleed
    Every warning, a leaking rubber,
A poison apple for mingled blood
Too young for one's delusion the lifestyle cost
    Venereal Mother embrace the loss
    That's how
    Look at you now
    You're broken
    Inherit your life
    there you guys go.

I can relate big time. Breaking mine in 89' from a 34' ft fall landing in the sitting position in a river bottom by myself. Should of died, according to the docs after some 4 hrs after crawling for over a mile to get help then to one hospital & careflighted to a larger one & after a MRI. Then Put in a room to die where they gave me 5 days of life. But I made it to surgery & am still here today for some reason. I shattered 3 vertibre into hundreds of pieces of bone fragments. Spinal cord came out of the canal. Broke several ribs & my chest swelled out over a foot in a matter of minutes after the Les than a second fall. Severe back pain really sucks. Just went threw my 5th major surgery 4 months ago. Still looking for the relief after almost 30 yrs. on Nov 3rd. Very thankful to have made it. Being a part of raising my then 3 & 6 yr old girls & our son born 3 yrs after my fall. Their all married now & we have 10 grandchildren I adore & am so thankful to be a part of their lives. You just have to get threw it however you can & be thankful for those that make it all worth it. I'm a Dallas, Tx boy so Pantera is high up there to me. The most awesome thing they did was writing & recording The Dallas Stars Anthem in just an hour or so before a game many yrs ago & it still & always will be heard on every opener & goal scored. They truly loved being a Texan & from Dallas. It's hard not to be sad Everytime I hear a Pantera song with the fate of Dimebag. Hard Core at its finest

  • @MsCruisein

Phil usually wrote the lyrics and Dime usually wrote the riffs, but it was a collaborative effort between all four guys to make it the best it could be. This song came from Phil (the singer) feeling like less of a man because of his crippling back injury which left him in constant pain, isolated and addicted to a lot of substances to cope and continue performing. Love those Pantera boys. Dime being murdered is such a senseless waste of life, talent and personality. He was one of a kind and taken from us too soon. Rest in peace, Dime and Vin. Check out Phil and Rex, they're still kicking ass. Dime and Steve-o knew each other and some people say Pantera's home videos inspired Jackass. Pantera makes you speed, and want to punch a baby, and motivates you to be the most badass you can be. There's no one on the same level. They're the unrivaled kings. Sorry, but now that you've heard Pantera, you're gonna be disappointed by every other band from here on out.

In my opinion the Floods solo is the best solo ever written and recorded. For the simple facts that it is so enthralling and that no one else can play it the way he did. No one. People have covered it and sounded close to it but no one can hit those notes like Dime. The way he incorporated his signature squeel into the melody of it is incredible. People can play Freebird and Voodoo Child and Stairway and One like those guitarists did. But no one can play Floods like Dime.

Long story shy....Jackass might have gotten their whole concept from the PanterA home videos. There are 3 of em, the best and most outragious has to be Vulgar Video. The other 2 are also EPIC...Cowboys From Hell Home Video and Watch It GO. I 110% have no doubt that once you've seen Vulgar Video a massive level of Metal Mentality will reveal itself.

@@jayfeelix2168 And heeeere the "long story" begins...
Go listen to "over and out" by Pantera then, for me it's the real beginning of their style, and it's dated 1988, the only kind of "groovy" track of Exhorder at this time was Unforgiven, and I'd say it still sounds closer to the Reign in blood's Slayer than Pantera to me.

    • @fyodorkaramazov2136

@@jayfeelix2168 "Although it is flattering to know that there are still plenty listeners that still care about Exhorder so intensely, I have to say that there is something that kind of gets under my skin," Thomas wrote in an open letter to the Exhorder fans. "After all of these years of Exhorder's dormancy and Pantera's fruition, I can honestly say that I just don't care about 'the feud' or whatever you want to call it. To be frank, I'm so fucking tired of seeing our name handcuffed to theirs. I cannot, nor would I even dream of attempting to, change our devoted fans' opinions, because history is what it is, but I do believe Exhorder deserves a place in metal history outside of Pantera's financial shadow. I know those guys even though I never see or talk to them anymore for no particular reason, and what is true is they worked a lot harder than we did to earn their success. Maybe things would have been as good for us had we toured more and recorded more. We'll never know.
"In the early days, Phil Anselmo loved Exhorder. Came to the shows, adored the demos and spread them like the plague throughout Texas, which is part of the reason Dallas/Ft. Worth is our home away from home. We were all pretty good acquaintances, but eventually they succeeded and we ended up with the wrong label and the wrong decisions. I guess the media helped 'the feud' grow more than anything. The bottom line is we palled around a lot way back, took a lot of influence off of each other, and today we're talking about this, but not to each other. That's fine, too, but I guess it would have been nice to do some dates with Pantera, especially when Floodgate needed a hand when the deal with Roadrunner went sour. Oh, well.
"If you're gonna dislike or hate either Exhorder or Pantera, do it because you just don't like it. I don't sit around pissing and moaning over anything. "

You could listen to Walk by pantera from the Live 101 album. That's gotta be on everyone's gym mix. Another oldie but goodie all the way from 1986 is Raining Blood by Slayer

Naw man, Pantera is good car music. Have a good pair of subs in the turnk, some amps that won't back down, and a good set of mids and highs.... and crank it up to 11. Their groove in their songs will definitely put your car system through a workout. Trust me, this comes from someone who has a pair of 12"s and some nice speakers for mids and highs and two solid amps in the car system. Pantera delivers when you want to blast some punishment.

Pantera can crack the pavement if you have enough subs. Your ears might bleed, your chest will feel crushed, and you will be lightheaded after, but you will live.

@@MikeS-sm5sd lol, never heard of Pantera being used for db drag racing or spl contests but yeah, they have some nice low-end.

Nobody gives Rex credit. He did good. The whole band @140+ db is so people in the next county can enjoy it too. Everybody driving around with their little bluetooth headphones in their ears all nice and quiet. Then you pull up and shake the fuck outta everybody around you making them piss their pants to Domination. They were expecting rap/hip hop music. But no, you dropped Pantera on their ass.

There aren't 2 guitar players. Dimebag Darrell Abbott is the one with the red goatee, he is the guitarist, Rex Brown is the base player. This is true musicianship, unlike all that techno and music made by machines. And Phil Anselmo, the lead vocalist has an incredible range, listen to Cemetery Gates. And guys, you really need to open your minds up to metal. You're too stiff, lighten up and enjoy! Take notes from No Life Shaq. White people been listening to black music for decades, don't be so critical, these guys were/are some of the nicest, most genuine guys on the planet.

    I wonder if we'll smile
    In our coffins while
    Loved ones mourn the day
    Absence of our face
    Living, laughing, eyes awake
Is this too much for them to take?
    Too young for ones conclusion
    The lifestyle won
Such values you taught your son
    That's how
    Look at me now!
    I'm broken!
    Inherit my life
    I'm broken!
One day we all will die
    Clichéd fact of life
Force fed to make us heed
    Inbred to sponge our bleed
    Every warning, a leaking rubber
A poison apple for mingled blood
    Too young for ones delusion
    The lifestyle cost
    Venereal mother embrace the loss
    That's how
    Look at you now!
    You're broken!
    Inherit your life
    You're broken!
    That's how
    Look at us now!
    I'm broken!
    Inherit my life
    I'm broken!
    That's how
    Look at me now!
    I'm broken!
    I'm broken!
    I'm broken!
    I'm broke!

\m/ HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL YEAH, Justin and Ced! I love your Pantera reactions. Yeah, it was sad when Dimebag was murdered. I heard it on the news the night he was killed. His brother Vinnie Paul (the Drummer) also passed away from a heart attack at 54 years old last year. Have you reacted to "Cowboys From Hell" by Pantera? You will love that one, too. Nobody is anywhere NEAR what they did. Awesome job, guys! \m/ =D

alot of riffs would come from Dimebag while he was drunk and he would record them on tape and break them down when he would hear them after he he sobered up, there the band would cooperatively come up with the groove and Phil Anselmo would do lyrics

Look at it this way folks. Phil Anselmo, the Singer/Vocals during this cut is like his voice is a Percussion instrument , part of the Rythm section. Listen real close and he , the drummer and bass player are Ruffing off of each other. Now the tune Cowboys From Hell you'll listen to him step out front of the band as more of a Lead Singer. This Car is very versatile and can Throw Down the the Best Lead Singers of All Time. That right,. Best of All Time. Ya Feel Me? I know you Do. T$

You def should always google lyrics for metal songs if you havent developed an ear for it yet. People are constantly surprised by how deep and meaningful some metal songs can be. Metallica is like that. Surprisingly deep, peotic, and emotional with thier lyrics. They touch on alot of subjects from mythologies to psychology. Check out Metallica One if you havent already. And look into the lyrics and meaning behind it. CHEER!! 🍻
