Guys this series is my new favourite. Ever since it came out I've been watching it obsessively and practicing these openings. Since then my rating has gone to 1250 (from 1350). I can't remember ever being this mad.

I love Aman's approach to these speed runs. He slows down to explain moves, sometimes at the cost of winning the game. Lots of other streamers I watch do not value the educational component of the game if time starts to get tight and the game is close, but Aman doesn't give a fuck about the win. He prioritizes finding educational moves and providing explanations for them. Great stuff.
@@alv2724 @Alv Jerome is commonly perceived as a "black name," and the video is peppered with jokes alluding to that, often playing on existing negative stereotypes of black people. I can't speak to Aman's intentions, but this is just typical racist frat bro behavior, the same douchey archetype they (ironically?) lean into on Chessbrah. An important piece of context is that the video was published in the summer of 2020, shortly after the murder of George Floyd, during the uprisings, when race was in the public consciousness much more than usual. Here are some timestamps from the video: 2:51, average racist stereotype "black person" impression 6:04, "Dammit, I'm black.... Maybe it works for black as well. I mean it is called the Jerome." And the laughing pepe animation creeps in. At worst, a blatant dogwhistle to the worst people on the internet, at best, fucking irresponsible as a youtuber with hundreds of thousands of subscribers to reference a symbol of white supremacy WHEN TALKING ABOUT RACE. 8:05 "We have more privileges than our opponent, and I think that is what Jerome sought out to do. This was a movement. This was about privilege. Jerome had a mission statement over 100 years ago, this was about privilege!" He said this when he had the white pieces, by the way. i don't know, I don't even think I know what the joke is. At best, vague support for BLM, at worst, mocking the goals of BLM, or maybe just making fun of some generic SJW character. The rest of the video is pretty funny, and I do revise my previous comment, because it's not racist jokes all the way through, but they did set the tone for the rest of the video overall. I'm not trying to cancel them or anything, cause they're chill most of the time, but this video was weird.
i always hear you guys talk about controlling light squares or dark squares, putting pawns on opposite color of your bishop etc, but for some reason that shit just goes out my brain during a game
that's cuz you're just passively listening to their advice while watching the video. Next time you're in a chess game (longer format for comfort) try to purposely control the dark/light squares. you'll learn more that way added with analysing your games
I studied the KIA over the course of this series, made a new account that only plays it with the white. My previous bullet rating with E4 repertoire took me to 800 in about two months. With this opening, I made 900 in a couple of weeks. Thankyou for the instructive chess and good vibes all along the way.
Very strange mix of games in this episode. I would’ve thought all of them would be consistently competitive but still lots of variation in quality. Enjoyed GM Hambleton’s commentary as always!
Regarding this rant about thinking when you're already lost (starts 17:37), I think (in my view) it's not actually thinking ;). At this level (I'm around 1700 myself) the guy most probably knows that his position is already hopeless, it's just contemplating (sometimes mumbling to oneself) like 'what have I done', 'how could I let this happen', 'I shouldn't play when tired or angry' etc, then you look at this disaster you allowed for a few more seconds, sigh heavily and click the resign button. Ocasionally the mouse or headset flies across the room and hits the wall :p. That's when you actually had a chance to get an advantage (or even had one) at some point ;)
Hey Aman! do you have any games or instructions where you face the London with Kings indian defense? when they try castle queenside and attack on the kingside?
Aman, can you please do one more speed run with the King's Indian? PLEEEAAAESE! There are so many positions that I get into that you unfortunately did not get, and another run would help show more scenarios.
I've played many a Grandmaster and I've never lost a single game. 'Really?' Yes. They usually walk away in disgust muttering something like 'bluddy wasting my time...fgs!' after my first 5 moves. 😂🙄
Interesting that you mention that they spend all their time when it's mate in 1. Watching your clock I was wondering, maybe I don't spend enough time thinking through my moves. Although to be fair I still lose even when I waste a lot of time "thinking".

Lmao
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💯
fckn same. I'm trying to play best moves watching all parts and eventually -350 pt players fuck me up effortlessly.

13:35 Random OCD event from Eric included.
He missed centering the red cap on the right too smh.
This is by far my favorite chess series. I''ve learned a ton, thank you!
same, chess has been getting stale and these videos are great for getting a feel for the types of positions you’ll get with this opening
@Luigi 3K ok no sorry the jerome video is just racist jokes all the way through. not good
@@oliverjackson3761 how is it racist tho?

That really was an endgame clinic with the 2 bishops @ 47:07
Best series ever. I would watch a season 2
11:22 "A wild Chief enters the war room to reshuffle hats in it's lucid state."
Awesome content, Aman! Also, Eric was nice enough to straighten the hats 👍🏼
I’ve gained a lot of ELO using this system. What a great series. Would love to see more like this.
I can't tell you how helpful this series has been for someone who plays this opening. It's completely transformed my play.
Aman's speed runs are the best. Learned so much over the years, thank you sir!
This was highly educative for me
I play this all the time with black and i just straight up subject myself to all kind of violence
All kind of violent what?
@@god0fgames100 attacks I think
@@boceksiadam or violence, auto corrected.
however we did miss an s on kind.. I dunno. Doesn't matter anyway. Great series!
U guys righ i wanted to write violence nd i miss type it
U know it could be a violent violence
Why were so many games skipped near the end? I don’t mind watching a longer video for the content and educational value

started playing the KIA otb and got a solid win! using these vids to prep for a tournament this month. gonna rep the bruhs and shoot for 1st.
For white in the KIA it seems that sometimes the attacking plan involves h4 and other times it involve f4. What is the rationale for h4 versus f4?
13:50 Eric says j'adoube when he adjusts the hats.
Fantastic series!
I love this series very respectful job i hope thus never ends
Toked up Eric in the background rearranging hats
We learn so much from these speedruns! Keep it comin
this is an awesome series
Love the whole series!

19:32 how to deal with Qd3 after c3?
They spend time on the last move because they can't believe how smoothly your mate trap was executed!

Does anyone know how to respond to black playing f5? I always get killed by it
This speedrun teached me a lot 😤💪🏻
15:57 black has Bh6, with the counter pin on the bishop.
Please do this series with another opening
Isn't e5 a free pawn at 19:27? Or am I missing something
Maybe bad habits to take center pawns before castling?
16:06 bh6?
Flames caps in Toronto!?? :o
Go Canucks! :)

His sports coach analogy was hilarious
54:30 h4 variation plans.
16:05 bishop h6?
Sicilian (Najdorf) / english version of this next please please please
Awesome cant get enough
Wtf is Eric doing lmao
Love it !
Vibes as always
this opening is way too hard
At 7:15, why doesn’t black play pawn g6?
If I had to hazard a guess I'd say it's because the knight on f5 is checking the black king.
Because they are in check from the knight
