Paul, Andrew, I cannot agree more about securing stuff down properly in the back of your vehicle! Last year I left my pro-SLR camera with lens on the back seat! I then proceeded to have my first accident in 40 years and the impact of the camera flying around inside the vehicle ended up with it impacting my spine and breaking my back Tie it down and tie it down firmly!

Thank you for taking the time for discussing safety in an accident, most people have no idea of the forces involved in an accident and how things need to be tied down to avoid serious injury. Great video on both packing and safety, and yes I have already subscribed but I am on a fixed income and can't support you financially but would if I could!

Personal experience says if you need to tie it down you probably do not want it in the vehicle during an accident, you are absolutely right about the need for secure storage locations, and I use a load net the stretches across the roof of my vehicle that works wonders after I became accustomed to it.

I'm really interested in the ceiling net! I would love to add one to my Crosstrek (that can also be removed)

Good discussion! I've been drawing up plans for a drawer and fridge system for my Jeep. I was already planning on using the factory bolts for the rear seat, but now maybe I'll look into reinforcing the anchor points with plates underneath as well!
I always learn something from your videos. Thank you!

If one is utilising a wagon or troopy then an approved cargo barrier is a must.
In a break-in they also stop entry from cab into wagon and vice versa. Obviously they stop flying cargo in the event of an accident but also provide quite a lot of support to the roof in a roll over.
The approved models are steel framed with steel caging / mesh.
Good kit is often heavy and bulky - life is a trade-off.
NB : Due to the mining industry, there is a plethora of roll bar manufacturer's who build and install internal roll bars for popular models - this is the ultimate roll over protection and ALL nets and equipment can be connected. They take up a little space and are heavy but you get what you pay for.
A single 50mm reinforced roll bar adjacent to the pillars behind the front seats and going overhead is ultimate protection in a side impact or roll over. They are bolt through and attached to the chassis.

    Nets: www.mudstuff.co.uk/products/storage-nets-13.html
I have a few of them, including a big one covering a lot of the "ceiling" on my Defender.
Cargo rail: the search term you need is Unwin tracking.

i like the information on the video, however i would prefer a video that actually shows how, and the problems and solutions on a pratical example. Like for instance the video you did about going overland on a stock vehicle, ¡ would like to see how you pack a said vehicle.

By the time one adds a RTT and a spare tyre to a roof rack, your dynamic load that high up would have handling implications on a vehicle. Not to mention probably being close to the load limit of the rack itself. So now one needs to solve those issues with vehicle handling performance upgrades like springs and suspension changes. All easily avoided by utilising safer kit like an awning tent or rear wheel carrier which adds little extra time to camp setup times and even more comfort due to increased space. Looking at the background 70 series compared to the disco4 cut into the video, i'd say the disco was actually carrying less weight! Even more so if the roof canisters had already been consumed. Well over 50% of the time that discos roof rack weight will be lighter than the 70 series roof rack weight given the same travel time and distance....

Andrew, about you signature ammo box. Please do not forget about Europe, last week I called the for 5 Autograph from the factory and the shipping company which they cooperate with them asked for killer 8k ZAR . I am using currently FR wolf pack boxes and they are good but I assume that Autograph boxes would be even better for me. Best

Do you have any pictures of the interior modifications you are talking about? The second row seats traded for a rack and a load guard? Iv been thinking about doing something like that at least just removing the seats to have more low CG cargo space but I am curious how you set up a rack there.

Rigid 222570 too box, $39 USD. Interlocking, light & water/dust proof. Plus they have other thinner boxes and open top type that interlock as well. Cheap, durable & throw away for the cheap price...

Andrew, perhaps you can answer this. As a person from the States and not familiar with Australian Canopies, can you tell me why are some Ute Canopies being sold online or shown have a lot of space, except for the kitchen, and maybe a small section that has drawer space.

4xoverland no it’s called being rude and arrogant. Oh it’s a terrible box “NOW I’VE designed a good box” lol
That’s not interviewing lol That’s called tooting your own horn. I Love most of your videos with the exception of those videos with you talking AT someone. It comes across as you loving what you have to say and the other person is just there to set things up for you to talk. Sorry if I’m being harsh but someone needs to tell you how it is. I’m not the only one that feels this way because I’ve seen similar comments on your other videos.
