These interview/discussion videos you've got with Mac, Paul Marsh, and Ronnie Dahl are absolutely fantastic. When you are between trips, I'd love to see more, I don't know what to call it, "campfire talks" with guys like this. I love the storytelling mixed in with advice and stuff. Keep it up

Kudos for the video content! Forgive me for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Tiyulian Riyadelyn Takeover (search on google)? It is a great exclusive guide for surviving in a world crisis without the headache. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my good mate called Gray got great results with it.

Great series! Nowadays U'd suggest a DeLorme InReach SE, which allows bidirectional satelite text messaging, backed up by a satelite phone, like the one availabke from Globalstar' Spot system (findmespot.com). That doesn't mean one can go away with no proper planning though...

One thing have learnt over the last 30 years arond 4x4's if looking at long range tanks whether it expedition or towing a caravan, stock fuel tanks of 80-150 liters are always replaced with some 400 or more liter capacity, 2x internal fuel over the wheel well tanks 75-150 each depending on the rear cargo space you have, either plumbed direct engine or direct dunp into main tank..
Based on a 80 or 60 series land cruiser, from a 70 series i would consider a 6x6 or perente chassis as a baseline build..
jerry cans atleast 150-200 liters in reserve for fuel. (this should be atleast half of your main tanks capacity because capacity equals distance)
400 liters of water atleast 100 for vehicle and 300 for drinking
spare tires 2 is adequate for some though my opinion 4-6 on rims is more realistic as that allows for failures in the front twice and rears once or twice... (this is the 4x4 version setup)
6x6 variant 12 in 4/8 split front and rear.
PERSONALLY i do not like tenting systems I much prefer looking into exoskeleton roll cages because modern 4x4's do not have the structural integrety to jacking if the vehicle ends up on its side if you concerned of vehicle flips due to wind you may want to consider tie down points
as for tents if you must have something off the ground i would consider something off the back on a trailer system...
killing your storage space on your motor vehicle is alway a bad idea
yes weight is king in some cases though getting out of an area safely should be your main priority...
sometimes a road less traveled is on the on the side of the road you travel on especially when pot holes have the problem of being on the tarmac or gravel road
my opinion on all terrains they are nothing but a radial for your 4x4 light gravel all weather tarmac driving i would never use them on true off road condition as they aren't built for off road use...
this is where alot of people go wrong when configuring a 4x4 for offroad use.
gps is a grand thing to have though 1 word of caution on average in city use you can have 500 meter to 2km radius of your final destination, in terms of bush use that can be 5-200 square kilometers of terrain to cover..
half the battles of getting to a destination is getting back..
    i live by the 3 second, 3 minutes , 30-90 min, 3 hours, 3 days, 3 month's rules..
3 seconds stems from bleed out from a accident 3min stems from severity of bleed out..
3 hours to 3 days depend on the heat you face water may keep you alive for 3 or more days though heat stroke will kill you within 24 hours in most cases especially when facing 45-70c heat on a shade basis..
NOTE: all on road safety device fitments may have a safety value in tarmac and gravel driving will most likely get you killed in the long run in a true off-road situation..

4xOverland That makes the Patrol even more noteworthy. Paul is a favorite guest of mine on your channel. I have learned alot about safety from the two of you. Thanks for that.

It's a great idea for Paul to demo how these two trucks were built. I'll chat to him about the idea.

Tried to research those tire sealants (and why there is far less availability/marketing of them in the US). Turns out that the manufacturer in no uncertain terms does not recommend installing them in vehicles with TPMS (claiming it will clog the valves and sensor), which in the US basically includes all offroad-worthy vehicles made since 2007. Might be different in Africa.

4xOverland fantastic interview, Andrew. I've interviewed Sonny Rollins to Henry Rollins, and everyone in between - Willie Nelson, Melissa Etheridge, Gene Simmons, Glen Campbell, and on and on, so, I know a thing or two about interviewing. Superbly done.
