ur concerns r correct but we have the great Himalayan region surrounding the upper side, which is a great defense barrier against China. Even if it's long china can't enter India because of the Buffer zone of Nepal and Bhutan. China once tries to enter through Bhutan and tries to build a road to block the Siliguri corridor but the Indian army fought with them and sent them away. Indian army also has mountain training which until recently China had none. Pakistan's economy is in stumbles and even if they want to they can't do large-scale attacks, they also had to deal with TTP and Baloch liberation army. China's first target is Taiwan and they use their communal power, they think since we follow the communist govt we can sacrifice our soldiers for war but democracy can't coz they need to please their people. China has border disputes with 15 countries (even with countries it doesn't share its border with.) But if u give this Chinese soft-action they will want more.

Communism in China paved an easier path for government reforms compared to India. Federalism is indeed the true nature of our democracy, but in my opinion it has created enough obstacles when it has come to monitoring and implementing accountability and transparency. Unless politics takes a back seat, and the idea of reforming India as a whole is the objective of most of the Indian states and ofcourse the Centre, we will not be able to attain our maximum potential. However as far as geopolitics is concerned, it's the largest economies that have a louder voice in the world forum. So economic reforms is an end and governance reforms is a means to that end.

These issues are less complicated than they are made out to be. The simple explanation is that unless there is a quid pro quo there is no relationship. Geographical location of Pak (as SG had said in an earlier programme) is what they can give. China and Russia are interdependent economically (SG has said this also in an earlier programme). What can India contribute? A market? Can India give away the one thing that will help in its development, progress etc.

The problem is that the US has a long history of opposing Russia that the public feels any action by Russia as anti US. They are Pakistan for them. Europe will remain insecure to the fear of Russian expansion. They have a long history as well. China was able to mend with Americans because there is no long standing allies are threatened by that relationship. Japan was somewhat concern but they were only one at the time. We can play same role as Pakistan played when they became link between China and the US. Both considered them their major partner. For that to happen, there is need of strategic change in the US policy. Consider Russian interests while deciding European security architecture. That is where India needs to move. Now are we ready for that kind of engagement? That is the question.

Names of some very formidable adversaries like Iran, former Soviet states, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Myanmar, UAE, Saudi and Qatar are missing from the list. All these countries have allowed Chinese investment, buy Russian military hardware, and, more importantly, their head of state meet Chinese and Russian leaders.
Pakistan is a member of SCO, and she is working with Russia on Afghanistan very closely. If Russia wants to be friends with Pakistan, how can India object? At best, they would buy Russian military hardware, which India doesn't like. India supplies BrahMos missiles to the Philippines, and Russia doesn't object to that. India has been hesitant to deal with Chinese neighbours, and Russia never objected. On the other hand, top 5th Gen. fighters still use Western engines.
The quad alliance strengthens India's preeminence in the Indian Ocean region, and there is no other reason for India to join the coalition. Russian understand that, and It is not a new development. They would probably, issue a few statements, but she is forming an alliance to stifle India in a stretch of the imagination.
Also, as history demonstrates, there is no permanent friends and enemy, and China could behave very differently tomorrow. At the same time, no country, including Russia and the US, wants India to be a dominant global power. Therefore, a fluid Asia-Pacific suits India as it can continue to be the balancing power.

Another great video by Shekar Ji and The Print team. A few reflections
    1. India looks like it’s punching below it’s weight class (as opposed to Qatar who punches up). Yes India depends on Russia for weapons but so does Russia for $. If India walks away, who will make up the shortfall? Not China, they manufacture their own, Pakistan does not have the finances for that, none of the NATO or EU countries. Other than fossil fuels that only other meaningful export that Russia has.
    2. It looks like India will have to stop sitting on the fence and commit to a formalized/strong partnership with the US. The dynamic between Pakistan, Russia and China is going to get stronger for the foreseeable future. Indian needs a counterbalance.
    3. Finally the right in the US is speaking Russian talking points, look at Tucker Carlson asking why should the US support Ukraine instead of Russia. The left is United in opposing authoritarians like Putin and Xi.

I wonder if India can stand up to the US the way China can. It reflects the power they hold in the world. India should at this point focus on Indo-China border issues than that of the US interest of SC sea... and India should strongly focus on Indian economy. If you have money, you have power. Don’t imagine peace at the end of a war... India should stick with diplomacy to deal with the border issues and since India has the capability of becoming a rich country in terms of gdp, so economic growth is the most important for India i would say. Just my humble opinion.

India stopped importing oil from Iran in mid-2019 following sanctions on the Persian Gulf nation by the Trump administration. You think China ever stopped importing oil from Iran and US ever said anything about it?
