Today, I’m answering Ask the Egg Whisperer questions. One of them comes from Helen, who asks if she should move on to donor eggs after having one failed IVF. She is 45.
My short answer for Helen focuses on two things:
The likelihood of being able to find a good egg at 45 is maybe 2% to 3%. A 45 yo may still have a healthy egg left. It is possible but chances are low.
When I have a patient in a similar spot to Helen, I share this: If you're going to live the rest of your life wondering what might happen if you didn’t do just one more cycle, you should give it a try. However, if you're ready to move towards something that's going to give you a much higher chance of pregnancy, my suggestion is to move on to donor eggs.
I also suggest that women take all the time they need to talk to a psychologist. Look at all the different egg banks .. Look at egg donor agencies like @tulipfertility, and look at my #FreezeAndShare program. Consider embryo donation and adoption.Take time to educate yourself on all the possible options and then get really excited about what you're going to do next. If you're not excited, it's not time yet.It just means you haven’t find the right match.
If you want to hear my full answer to Helen’s question, you can find it at the 23 minute mark.

I just want to get pregnant one more time with my partner Cesar. Because of you, and my belief in pro-life understanding of moral therapy, I have come to realize that it's all about timing, patience, and trust in the community that helps you become a couple. Thanks Dr. Aimee.

She should not close the credit cards, just cut them up and forget the numbers. Pay them off and they’ll help her credit rating.

Hi doctor, I have a question, I got the PGT-A test report from the lab which I used for my previous IVF cycle, the report says that “Mosaicism is not reported when the aneuploidy involves chromosome 13, 18, 21, X or Y.” Since I got -13, so I did not know whether the embryo was mosaic. Does it mean that these listed chromosomes are very important and abnormal embryo that involves these aneuploid chromosomes should never be transferred even the embryo is low mosaic. Thank you.

Hi Dr. Aimee. Is it possible to get pregnant with 1 million sperm sample for IUI?

Maybe I'm off topic but would you recommend EU-Natural conception to those trying to get pregnant?

After 5 IVFs I was successful with my daughter at the age of 43 and had her at 44. I did a stimulated cycle. My last AMH was 1.8 and my FSH is 13.1. I want a sibling for her more than anything. I took too long breastfeeding. I am 46. Do you think I might have a chance at another IVF cycle since I had a successful pregnancy later in life? What supplements may improve my egg quantity and quality?

Nothing is proven to improve egg quantity and quality - anyone that tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something unfortunately :(
