    New to the channel, and I'm keen to see the adventures with your new Prado! It looks like a well looked after and clean canvas to start you on a new build.
    As heartbreaking as it is to have a vehicle die beyond repair, there is special excitement with starting a new build.
    I was looking at a few 90 series diesel Prado before I ended up with my Pajero a couple years ago, hard to find a good clean one.

      So glad you found the channel. Thanks heaps for watching and commenting. Looking forward to sharing the adventures that unfold. It's certainly in a rare stock condition. Upon close inspection I don't think second or third row of seats have ever carried passengers. Nokia phone mount in the cab circa 2002... Paj is a great vehicle too. You can see my friend Jason's Paj on the channel in some recent high country videos. Looks like you have setup your RUclips channel ready to start making some videos. Looking forward to that :) Cheers

    Traction control is exceptionally good on these cars you wouldn't need a locker 👍

      Still hadn't found a place the grey dingo needed a locker...(that I wanted to go). I think a rear locker will be one of the last things I modify on this new Prado. I am absolutely a fan of the traction control aswell...and I make comment on this in the coming walkthrough video. Cheers for watching! 😬

    When I bought my 90 I thought it might be one of the cleanest around, was owned by my grandparents since new, towed a little and was just used to shoot into town once a week mostly. But you've got me beat by a long shot. Very tidy mate, keen to see her transformation

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  9 месяцев назад +1

      Sounds like you got lucky too! Still got that 90 ? This new one still had a temporary factory sticker above the CD slot - 'Warning, only one CD to be to be inserted at a time' - 21 years and that sucker was still on there. The roof gutters have never seen had a roof rack on it. I didn't know thatrubber lining in the gutter could look so pristine! Cheers

    Howzit mate. Good to see you back in a Prado. I only came across your channel a few weeks ago, love the content.
    I was wondering, I’m originally from South Africa, which is where I plan on getting my own prado, hence coming across your channel. How my km’s would you say is too much for a 90 series? Also I know you like the diesels, but what about the petrol? As I’ll be going north where the quality of diesel in Africa isn’t so great.
    Last question, what do you think of the 120 series? Particularly the 4.0 v6?
    Cheers mate, looking forward to the future videos

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Nico, Doing alright here mate- how are you there - assume Africa based? Please accept my apology for taking so long to reply. I've had Corona virus in the last week and had to take a break. Thanks heaps for watching mate and I really appreciate the encouragement! Sounds like some great adventures over there in SA/Africa to come! For 90s in Australia the diesels are more sort after than petrols, and the autos more than the manuals. The diesels tend to go longer without major work, my perception (based on reading and following various group discussions) is that you can expect 450-550k km from the diesel before major work, but more likely 350-450k km for the petrol. If getting a petrol, I would look at vehicles with up to ~200,000km ideally, and diesels up to ~300,000km ideally - assuming you are planning on putting a few hundred thousand more on them. Ofcourse, a well looked after car will look after you in return - but this is what I'd consider as a guide..atleast with my experience in Australia... As for the 120 series...I nearly bought one! This is purely my opinion...For the most part, on paper they are a sound choice over the 90. In practice, I think they lost the ruggedness, and the good looks (more a school pick up SUV look....). If I was considering a petrol, I reckon I'd buy a 120. Ie. I hear the petrol engines in the 120 are more reliable. I won't comment on the 4.0i engine..I don't know enough. Hope this helps!! Let me know what you buy ? Cheers 😬 PS. new video up tonight for your interest

    • @nicolocox1
      @nicolocox1 8 месяцев назад

      Hey man. Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it. Yeah I know what you mean, the 120 (unless you fully kit it out) looks like a school runner. It’s good to know the km’s can be fairly high, as all the ones in my price range run quite high. (Maybe not high for a Toyota). My only worry for the diesels is the quality of diesel in Africa, South Africa is good, but as soon as you head north it tends to drop.
      But thanks again for the long reply, really appreciate the advise.
      When the time comes I’ll be sure to drop another comment on what I’ve bought.
      All the best man, I’ll be watching that new video now 👌

    Congratulations - looks super tidy.
    I had a VX 90 series (Petrol), the TX is diesel only, is that right?

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! So far so good. Did the VX have leather seats? It's the top of the range Petrol right? TX was practically a Diesel only-Grande just without the leather, electric seats, or sunroof as standard. Had the same upgraded offroad traction control and vehicle stability control the Grande does. 20 years on - Who wants those "luxury extras" ? (leather gets heavily worn, more electrics more problems). So I reckon the TX is the best of the 90 (more on that in future videos!) - although with the extra traction features it has the more complicated brake booster assembly computer - which can be a liability/pricey to fix. Thanks for watching mate!

    • @BadlyDubbed
      @BadlyDubbed 9 месяцев назад

      @@OTWD My VX was (I think) a 95, so despite that badge it wasn't a "Grande" trim level - it had the 5 spoke wheels rather than the tri-spokes and jazzy Toyota dirt-hiding fabric not leather. I still think back fondly to it. I'm in a manual 150 GXL now, which maps pretty closely in my mind even though there's probably more going on with it.

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  9 месяцев назад +2

      Haha, a 150 would be alright, but I don't want a big vehicle like the 300 that the 2024 Prado is turning into!! ...The family could live in a one bedroom unit, right?😅
