Great to see your enthusiasm come over on the film Paul. I believe that if Karl had had a more competitive and funded car, he would have dominated the class. Having said that, there is always something magical about being the underdog who fights for their place.

12:25 it’s because you then turn from your elbows instead of your shoulders. If your too far back you can only get 1/2 a turn either way before your forearms touch each other, when your closer in you can get nearly 3/4 of a turn each way without taking your hands off the 3&9 positions on the wheel
You can see that in his flash backs he was there in the moment remembering exactly how it was,class.I wonder what he drives as a daily and if he gave it some beans on his way home thinking about it 🤣🤣

Karl was some driver in this. I had no idea watching back then as a kid that he was so hampered by budget constraints and had those limitations in the build. You'd never have known sometimes watching him. Always had a soft spot for that livery too, was just a bit different.
I'd be pretty sure that this video explains why the value of the road cars has increased so much and is most likely to have added another £50k to current prices. These cars are epic and the history phenomenal.

Car actually looks in brilliant condition for its age, you could see Karl look at something and the memories flood back. I had two Merkur XR4ti's back in the 90's and would love to have one again and build it up for a weekend and track day car. It was difficult getting racing coverage of RS500's back in the 80's here in the USA. I am so thankful for youtube and you guys revisiting these amazing vehicles.
How did Paul linford end up doing what he does. Remember as a teen reading fast Ford and performance Ford and the word btcc spec engine Rs 50p was the words of dreams for me..
