Bagpipes used to great effect with Bon Scott, Long Way To The Shop, if you want a sausage roll (alternative lyrics popular in Aussie schools in the day 😂)
I already highly respected Glen Campbell as a songwriter, singer and musician, but had no idea he played the pipes! Of course, if you look at his last name, you can see the Scottish connection. Cluich sàr-mhath!
I stumbled upon this song when I was reading "DARK HOLLOW" by John Connolly. There's part in the story where the main character goes to a big red barn where everyone is dancing to "Bonaparte's Retreat." As I was reading and listening to this song it made me feel as if I was in that old barn myself. Fell in love with it ever since...
I heard this song years ago never figured out the name till now took me half as hour to find it this is the type of music I always listened to never since I was really little only 15 still listen to the same old music
Way before his solo career Glen was part of the "wrecking Crew" a Los Angeles based group of studio musicians that played on most of the hits we remember growing up. Incredible talent!
This 1974 song really gets you going ! Great Tune !
I was born in Scotland,so the bagpipes make it an even better song.

A classic country song made for square dancing. What a fun, lively performance by Mr. Glen Campbell.

We wore the jukebox out playing this at Ray and Louise's Coffee House on Greenwood rd. in Shreveport back in the day.
@wildewulf hey there. I grew up in Bossier. Just saying hi to a fellow Louisianian! 🙂
It's hard to find a pub with a jukebox these days.
They are FILLED with poker machines and horse racing gambling screens. More $ in that

Still Cranking Glen Campbell In 2021
Gordon clan.forever.
I was never a big Glen Campbell fan R.I.P. but I like this song.
Where can I find a cd with this on without paying an arm and a leg?
I have a cassette 😂😂 I sell them $1 each at the market but it's in Australia lol
Maybe Ebay ?
I prefer the extended play version which includes kazoos and arm farts.
I thought Buck Owens recorded this song too
Guy Lombardo made the best version back in the 40's Gene Krupa also did this song but it wasn't as good.
