Love this song! Only 35, never too young to appreciate the greats 👍
To anybody who's reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind. May clarity replace confusion. May peace and calmness fill your life.
What a beautiful sentiment. It was uplifting to read. Thank you!
Благодарю вас❤❤❤
Thank you very much! this heartbreak Is To much 💔
That really is the most wonderful post, especially for people with depression and anxiety to read. It gives you hope and makes you feel there is light at the end of the dark tunnel, it made me feel so much better just pondering on the everso wise words you wrote
People with a great taste for good music and for a super beautiful voice will still listen to this song.
I will never stop listening to him! I love The Last Waltz!!!!
Agree Ms. Nawal ❤
Slow dance music
@@nathaliefrederick8035 Beautiful music...I love it and listen to it all of the time!!!
I danced to this with my wonderful wife on our wedding day, then once again 26 years later just before she died at 47.
I miss you sweetheart... 😢
Such a sad comment May your Dear Wife Rest in Heavenly Peace
@@clydequinn4395 thank you
In December 1977, my then-girlfriend introduced me to the world of the songs of this immense singer without equal. She and I got married in October 1980, and since then we have been together, having the fortune of have seen Engelbert sing live in two occasions. What a personality of singer! My beloved wife and I still enjoy listening to these beautiful songs.
That is so sweet.
I hope you and your wife spend many up and down years together, and may God bless your marriage and love.
@@rickypyper7662 Thank you Ricky!! We are still together and, now, enjoying life with our 2 children and three grandchildren. I wish you the best, too!

My wife and I agree that it was less toxic! 😮
yup, the world was a bit better back then

My mum and dad used to play Engelbert's songs when I was a music loving 8 year old back in 1967. I still love these songs to this very day (I am now 64). Sadly mum and dad are gone but the music lives on.
That song is beautiful and nostalgic. Egenbert has one of most powerful voice among the many singers in the 70 and 80's
Iam 65 and I can mirror your comments . EHs music is impregnated in my mind as Mum and Dad were always playing his LPs on the record player when I was a child
I was 5 same for me.. my parents were huge fans. I grew up on his music. Such great memories. I miss them
Now, 74 yr of age and STILL sing along, and yes, the music does live on.
Awesome mate....born in 1958, shared experiences....thanks for sharing❤
This might sound weird but this feels like a hug from my grandparents
Beautiful

NOPE!! You're not alone!
My friend, good music doesn't have an age. It's timeless.
Seriously, A gen Z listening to older song is rare and we're one of them.
Not alone
You are not alone
What a legend! What a voice!
I agree.
HE IS A "LIVING
LEGEND." A PERSON OF GREATNESS DOES NOT BECOME A LEGEND UNTIL THEY ARE DECEASED.
Freedom in my childhood growing up in the '70s. Rode my bike all over the place, staying out until the street lights flickered on, and the sun had dipped below the horizon. Eight track tapes, record players, knowing all your neighbors, block parties, playing with all the neighborhood kids in their yards and in the streets. Sucking on popsicles, climbing trees, and playing Ghost in the Graveyard. Beautiful memories.
In 1975 i came home from school and mom was playing this record i dropped my bag and ran over i fell love with the voice the music the man 😂i was 13.and this music never gets old or sounds old 🤗
I'm 19 as of now (2024) but this song is still one of my favs :)
The Last Waltz should last FOREVER! ❤
"The Last Waltz" should last FOREVER!
The last waltz WILL last for ever.
Undoubtedly
Lyrics:
I wondered should I go or should I stay,
The band had only one more song to play.
And then I saw you out the corner of my eye,
A little girl, alone and so shy.
I had the last waltz with you,
Two lonely people together.
I fell in love with you,
The last waltz should last forever.
But the love we had was going strong,
Through the good and bad we get along.
And then the flame of love died in your eye,
My heart was broke in two when you said goodbye.
I had the last waltz with you,
Two lonely people together.
I fell in love with you,
The last waltz should last forever.
It's all over now, nothing left to say,
Just my tears and the orchestra playing.
La la la la la la la la la,
La la la la la la la la la.
I had the last waltz with you,
Two lonely people together.
I fell in love with you,
The last waltz should last forever.
This song was always played at family gatherings/social events and the older folk and parents would 'take over' the dance floor and waltz expertly around, much to the amusement of us children. Now, at the age of 61yrs I understand why. Beautiful song, beautiful memories.

This song is sad. When I listened to it in the late 60s when I was only about 5 years old in Singapore, it gave me a feeling of a wide expanse of space. It is like waltzing in life figuratively. That time we had a Fitzpatrick supermarket in Singapore and the interior building structure of the building consisted of three diamon-shaped motiffs that is part of the building on one side of the wall. When I heard this song, I literally ran to and fro to the motif in ecstasy. So this song although sad, show us life is like a waltz. You can expand out to get out the feeling of sadness.
Respect
How does it feel to grow old sir ? Looking back realising so much time has passed ? I am 21 right now and i dont know if I'll make it up to 22. I am suicidal. Have tried twice. Didn't succeed ofc. Dont even want to but cant help it
@Atif Shake Thanks for going out of your way to ask about it bhai , but tbh , i dont know anymore , been feeling it since 3 years now. Cant take it anymore. Only thing stopping me from killing myself is that my Mother's face flashes in front of my eyes everytime i try to do something
Meaning you're 70 years old now?
@@anubhavagarwal117 hey man, I'm right there with you. Sometimes I just wonder if this life is worth living, and I've thought about suicide many times. But what always brings me back is thinking about what I want in life and the people I love. It's not worth giving them a reason to be sad, and it's not worth ending your own life. I'm not here to preach or tell you how to live, but suicide is never the answer my friend. It's a permanent 'solution', to a temporary problem. It may take time, and it may be a long time, but you'll eventually see the value in living again. I always try and remember this whenever I feel depressed or sad, and it helps me. I hope it can help you too man. There's value in the short amount of time we have in this life, just gotta find it :)
In 1967 my first son was born, he is now 55. Engelbert and the song " The Last Waltz " is still going strong, amazing !
Musica inolvidable,,,!! Y quién la canta, que hombre,!!!! Engelbert , para soñar,!!!!!
Nice to hear that. I found this song a few months ago and suddenly remembered all my childhood. The surprise has been knowing that it was released 18 August 1967, a month after I was born. The other surprise that I just got is, that I listened to it a lot after my father's death, remembering him. The coincidence that my father was born on August 18.
I was born in 1967 also, and I am just now getting to know his music. Great voice and lovely songs. I need to buy his greatest hits.
I watched him live 3 times in the UK.Live in Perth.
Iam now 88years old and love to listen to him.
You are so lucky!!! Enjoy
This song brings back bitter sweet memories 1997. My family attended a ball and this song came up. My father and i got up on the dance floor to this tune. It was the last waltz with him, he past away 3 months later. ...Miss you dad..
This was played at my brother's funeral , it meant so much to him and my sister in law. Can't help crying when I hear it . Miss you Brian
How sad,Alan.

To the man I love, I miss you so much dear! As the last waltz last forever, our memories will last forever in my heart. I miss you so much 😭
One of the best songs of all time, performed by a vocalist who actually could sing like few others could. How times have changed...
Innit bro😂🙂
Don’t forget the man Tom Jones 😊
Happy fathers day! remember be kind always give them a day to remember always its not hard to do life to short for fussing snd fighting love them always ❤️ xx
My 1 year old son must be the youngest fan of Engelbert! His songs are his favourite lullaby. 🥹♥️
My mom stacked Englebert, Tom Jones and Perry Como albums on the record player and play them over and over . I’m so glad she did❤️
Your mom had great taste in music 🎶
A fantastic range of music. Well done
No one I think of has a voice that can compare. Well...no. Me.
This was played at the end of my Nans Funeral on July 20th this year. I never knew of Engelbert Humperdinck being born in 95 myself... It was actually going to visit my Nan in her care home. We would always put on the 60's Music Channel and Humperdinck was on with one of his songs. My Mum said to Nan wasn't he handsome and Nan as if she remembered said yes.
When planning the funeral we felt this song was perfect for walking out, as it would be my nan and grandads last waltz together. Now I find myself listening to Humperdinck so much, along with Jim Reeves etc.
Such a beautiful song
I remember my mother introduced me to his songs in the early 1970s ....I thought his name was so ridiculously funny but his voice and music smashed that all away ...the man is divinely blessed ...still listening to his songs in 2024
For any younger generation person listening to this, it is not my intention to offend but to perhaps inspire some to carry the baton forward. consider the following; The common apologetic argument today when older folks criticize modern music is to fire back with, "Well, but your grandparents didn't like your music either." This quickly reveals the ignorance about the retrograde, deteriorating human values and culture. Just dwell on this gentleman's performance. It is not just about his talent, not everyone was an Engelbert Humperdinck fan. What this classic song really reveals is humanity's ability to see the beauty in the world across borders and cultures in spite of the ever present hardships of which there was plenty to go around. You may have had a difficult time or life but the arts (music in this case) could give you a momentary escape. Today, mass media celebrates ugliness and brings all of that darkness to the fore front. And yet, most modern musicians are convinced that their contributions are good. Todays music has remained largely unchanged for 30 years. I assure you, if you live long enough to remember this post that todays artistic productions will get lost in time and not receive classical status in the years ahead. Sadly, there is no real redeeming value to any of it. Is there any hope? I'm loosing it in my waning years.
absolutely true, dear brother, I’ve been fighting this wickedness for 12 years already, an evil called Crips and Blщщds, this is perverted criminal hip-hop and criminal rap that are destroying our classical music, I love the music of the past, this is the most priceless treasure of our great composers, dear brother your words are golden priceless words😇
@@user-kd9qp2ig5w, Thank you for the kind words. Don't lose hope. We that believe and follow will have a reward in the next phase of our existence. God bless.
I'm 68 but this 70s compilation has made me feel like a 20 year old again! I can't help but bop around to the beat! So many of these songs take me back to particular places and the people I was with at that time. Better than any blood pressure pills or statins!
64 this June same
Hanging on to 68. After the song I will take my blood pressure pill. Beautiful memories of another time and space.
My dad used to sing this to my mum when I was a kid back in the seventies. I found it embarrassing at the time. They have both now passed and I now think it was a lovely thing for him to do and it makes me cry to hear it again.
Who would've thought that songs like these from decades ago can still break your heart.
I found this song a few months ago and suddenly remembered all my childhood. The surprise has been knowing that it was released 18 August 1967, a month after I was born. I was lucky enough to see Engelbert Humperdink in concert two nights ago. He's still sounding pretty good at 88 years of age. He's moving a lot slower though. I thoroughly enjoyed watching his performance. I grew up with his music and became a professional singer myself.
I was one of his biggest fans back in my younger days.
My mother used to clean the house with songs like this playing when i was a kid so when i heard it again it took me straight back to my childhood memories. What a great voice this guy has ❤

"The Last Waltz" is a ballad, written by Barry Mason and Les Reed. It was one of Engelbert Humperdinck's biggest hits, spending five weeks at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart, from September 1967 to October 1967 in the United Kingdom.
The title of the song is something of a double entendre as it refers to both the narrator's first and last dances with the woman he loves: the first dance was the "last waltz" played at the party where the two met, and the final dance signified the end of their relationship after their romance had cooled.
