Mr. Kiyosaki, because of you I was able to "retire" and get out of the rat race by 27 years old. And here you are a decade later still dropping knowledge.
Having undergraduate degrees in engineering and business, along with an MBA, I was somewhat set in terms of a career. But it was a miserable existence even though I was paid well. I then set out down the lonely road of escaping the "grind."
I now live mortgage free, surf, travel the world and spend my days coaching and building new things, yet my friends and peers look at me as the odd duckling. It's a strange, yet beautiful life. The thing I love most is I can't remember the last time I had to wake up using an alarm other than catching an early flight to Costa Rica or something.
Your most valuable lesson to me was defining assets. Only an asset will generate you income, anything else is a liability.

I never had a job before after graduating from high school while 17 and even now while 28 and live off something as SSI, I rather being living $10,000 in Paypal in Passive Income from affiliate marketing which is 10 million times more better than me living off SSI "benefits" from the baka (Japanese for stupid) government which I hate doing by the way my life would be better if I was already a successful online affiliate marketer making 10K Paypal in Passive Income and living financially free and having time freedom as it is supposed to be.

The "Rich Dad Poor Dad" book changed my life and still is. Quit drinking and smoking, quit my dayjob after I saved enough money while started my own design agency of my own and business with my wife too. Having a clear goal helps a lot and not working for money is the best way to go!

You are possibly correct, however this guy is proposing not working for money and creating a life time of income from investments in real estate, businesses and other commodities. Let's make it simple: we are alive so we need resources, resources cost money, unless you live in Alaska and get everything from nature.
To get resources and services you need money; because other people spent time and resources to make a service or collect and process resources.
To get money you need a job; that's all. You go to school to learn things that make you more useful for a company, which in return, pay you more money. You can avoid to go to school and learn on your own; although for certain jobs (doctors, lawyers and few others), you will have hard time finding a job without a degree.
So the tL:DR is that the educational system exist to give people the chance to learn and prove that they learned. It does not teach you how to make money; that is up to you.

Very insightful video. I've read all Mr. Kiyosaki's book. I've implemented some of the strategies from his teachings and even to the point where I was involved in every cashflow quadrant and I do agree that relying on a job alone is not going to help you financially. However, being employed while learning the other quadrants at the same time gave me a deeper insight in how the cashflow quadrant worked for me. I went back to university at a mature age and took the valuable knowledge I gained from Mr. Kiyosaki and took it to the next level. I learnt about debt management, debt financing and equity financing. I also learnt about the principles of finance, financial ratios, and accounting for business decision making, something that you will never learn from Mr. Kiyosaki's books and seminars. Knowledge is power and that indeed is true. Thankyou for the books and wealth wisdom Mr. Kiyosaki.

There's a saying: Go into business yourself and you can choose to work whatever 18 hrs. a day you want to work. Now, I get the essence of Kiyosaki is saying but the route he is taking is for certain types of people...mainly type A personalities. Not everybody is like that. Not everyone can handle the ups and downs of a real estate investor type of a career, plus the fact that you are on call 24/7 rather than working a 40 hr. work week and can compartmentalize your life rather than make work your life. I know a few people doing something like what Kiyosaki does and their cell phones are on 24 hrs. a day and they have to be able to shift to crisis mode in an instant. Not everybody can be mentally tough enough and ruthless to deal with bad renters, bad employees, the pressure of crucial business decisions and the ups and downs of investment type income. Many people just want to clock in their 40 hrs. a week and use the rest of their time to destress and do what they want. There's really nothing wrong with putting in your time and retiring with a reasonable retirement rather than working until you die. From what I've seen, Kryosaki type people basically are workaholics who keep pushing until they expire, which is fine if that's what you want to do but not choosing to be the richest man in the cemetery does not make you a loser. Sure it's great to be rich but it's not necessary for true happiness.
In my opinion, after reading the rich dad and poor dad, our government wants us for the age of 20-48. And that's the crucial time when we can change generations. Thanks Mr.Kiyosaki for changing the view of financial education.

If you don't have dreams and aspirations, then you'll end up working really hard for someone who does.
Maybe it is your aspiration to support others with the same aspirations as you. For example, many universities are technically charities... The money they make goes to the university itself to provide better and better education.

I shorted the hell out of the bottom...or what is the bottom so far. Still, oof. I'm still value buying long positions as well though. It's probably been the best time in the past 4 years to buy stock, in my opinion. I hope the stock market absolutely craters, even if my shorts get blown first. I plan on shorting the crash and buying long DCA all the way down, too. I want to see a 60% stock market crash. We're only around 20% now.
I'm a very concentrated investor but sometimes there is value in adding a small new position. It isn't for diversification. Focusing on something new provides a productive distraction from overthinking what you already own. It allows you and your portfolio to breathe a little bit

I will say that my personal experience kinda confirms what hes saying. I did well as a financial analyst for close to a decade from my early 20s to around 30. And I hated every second of it... not the job part, but listening to idiots and company bureaucracy, company politics... those things are the worst. Meetings with C-suite execs never accomplished anything. Old and out of touch execs push agendas and ideas that are simply not viable in today's globally competitive marketplace for products. And good ideas from brilliant employees tend to get squashed down, eschewed in favor of ideas from those who play the corporate game of thrones and spend their time positioning themselves politically to and socially to their advantage. Far too often, advancement in one's career hinged on being the kind of person that I fundamentally just could not even make myself try to be, and ingenuity and innovation in employees resulted in no career progress. Hated that shit.
Got out in my early 30s and do stock trading full-time now, and I couldn't be happier. I'm doing as well as I did before, with a whole lot more upward mobility depending on my own competence and effort, not on the judgements of old execs above me. I can decide to take a 2 week getaway to some beach in Europe, and I can take my work with me to the beach and get everything done at my leisure on my schedule. It really feels like freedom, and all I ever felt when working for a Fortune 500 company was encumbered and shackled by corporate BS and cutthroat co-workers.
It was the same where I grew up. There was a part of our income going to our own pension paycheck, and a part of it - to the government. When I was getting my degree, they pushed a law that took everything from a working person's pension to the government budget. So decades later we all, middle, poor, smart, stupid, criminal, law abiding, etc - we all would get the same pennies called pension. I knew that this was BS, there's no point investing more of my own money to my pension since they already took a part of it. I knew I could never live on my pension. But until I learned about Robert's books and ways of life, I never thought what I would do. Probably, work my back to death. But now I have a clearer view, so I really am glad that I've found him.

I didn’t got to a university or college. I went to CDL school and got my class A Driving license, and I get paid well. All I paid for school was 6000$, I make that every month. But I still listen to this genius because of his knowledge in investing. My next goal is getting a fleet of trucks to work for me so I can sleep while I make money. If you’re business can’t run without you, you don’t have a business, you have a high paying job. Sure people work for purpose but then the motivation isn’t money, is it?
The difference is that as an entrepreneur you create wealth and that s your motivation. When you just get a "job", that is a fixed salary every months, you just work to consume. This is what the school system is all about. Creating consumers.

To help folks understand this lesson, there are 3 different types of income:
1. Earned - from working
2. Capital gains - from selling something
3. Cash flow - from passive income
The reason why Mr. Kiyosaki doesn't invest in paper assets or work for a paycheck is because the first 2 types are taxable. But if you invest in the third type correctly, that is, by using debt, your income is tax free.
The real problem is not that school doesn't teach you nothing about money, the real problem is that school teaches you wrong things about money
because they don't know anything about it. I mean teachers don't even put practice into what they teach but they teach us as students, there was one time my business teacher told me that her house that she lives in is an asset!
I remember it was 1999 and I was in 11th grade English class talking to one of my classmates when the teacher called me out. "Are you listening to a word I have said?" I answered "No" She asked "why not?" I said "I have taken English every years since 1st grade, you either don't have anything new to teach me or I am not going to get it." She said "well, you might want to". Then I asked "why so I can get good grades, get into a good college and get a good job like you?" She answered "yes". I said "a college education cost about $16,000 a year right now, with four years of college that puts a degree at $64,000, a teacher starts out at $21,000!" Then I said "and that's why I will never take financial advice from you!"

The "hiring" market is complete bullshit. Where I live, every place is hiring but they aren't.
I remember going to one place that said a "$3,000 sign-on bonus" was included and a $25 per hour salary. It was in a factory that manufactured glass doors and windows and it was dangerous when they gave me a tour, like super dangerous. Then they took me to the office and asked if $15 was a good final salary choice. And they said no health benefits would be included and it would come out of our paycheck if we used the plan they offered.
Never went back. Another job was with a textile factory. Lady was rude and said they needed someone of experience to join the team. They didn't hire me. She greeted me with "Why do you need this job?"
Another one, I sent three applications and an in-person interview, only for them to say "We won't be hiring you. You don't meet the criteria we've been looking for".
Stuff like this motivates me to make my own choices and make money in my own way. If only I can do it and convince my family. And find the confidence in myself. I just cannot see myself slaving away in a factory or retail or restaurant position for my life. I'd rather work my job goal where I can say "I love this job. It's hard some days, but overall, I'm excited because I can be myself and not be someone who is only doing this for money like so many people HAVE to do with other places".

I'm an Accountant. After working for a company and seeing how many multiples the owners make (between $400k to $600k annually) compared to everyone else ($60k avg annually) convinced me to start my own business. It would be ridiculous for me not to. The owners aren't smarter than everyone else, just will to step out of the comfort zone.
You still need capital to start your own business, which means you still have to come cap in hand to a bank and hope they give you a rate to borrow that isn't going to completely bend you over. Fail that and you have to prep some kind of investment consortium - good luck with that if you're a nobody.
Also, they're not just going to lend you huge amounts of money at no risk, you need collateral to put up.
Even being a business start up, you're at a disadvantage compared to those who are already at the top.
And then just look how quickly you could be taken out by something like COVID lockdowns. I imagine those that just managed to break even after their first year, or just started turning over a profit in year 2, got completely derailed.
You need connections and many who made it probably did things not exactly according to the book. No internet guru is going to tell you that side of things.

You will be tax big time when you run a small business. Now buy assets using debt to avoid taxes. But banks will not lend you big money if you dnt have big assets or collateral. So initially, you need to work hard and pay taxes, either as employee or run a small business and save money to buy assets, then you can go to banks to lend you money to buy more assets. Anyway i do know rich people, dont use their savings in the bank to run their business. They just keep on borrowing money in times of crises or if they need to expand. Their investment, on paper, is a secret matter. So for most people, its seems, real estate, buy and sell is the way to go? borrow money to buy as many houses and lots and resell at higher price later. But the problem is, you still pay real estate tax and problem of where to get the money to pay the bank. monthly. Im still confuse as ever before.

I work for a state agency and work with people who have had the same job for 20 plus years. They walk around like zombies some of them have the age to retire and years in the state but they can't because they can't afford too. All of them talk about saving your sick time and vacation time for when they retire...so im like you are spending most of your life planning for old age?? How exactly is this living. Ok so a theoretical situation (my life situation). I get payed arround 900€ a month, and I would like to invest money. Taxes for crypto are arround 34% and I was thinking about buing real estate. But I dont own a property, so I need to pay for a property for me first (so I can go to a job) and bank would not let me get credit (Im not sure if word is right) so I could buy a property for my own. Cost of property where I live is sky rocketing to arround 250 000€ for 2 room apartment (because only for that 250k€ I would need to pay 694€ a month for 30 years and with my paycheck, they will not let me get that). How do i know if this is real or not? Because so far whenever i mention anything about this way of thinking to my friends my family or any stranger, they deny it or they diss it. I feel like shit when this happens because i'm lacking in experience and knowledge is what i think. But all i've done is listen to these videos and to me this seems pretty simple to do actually. One day i know i will die, i saw my mother die infront of my own eyes i saw her corpse............ I realized then, my fear of failing or fear itself is my light to illuminate my ignorance with knowledge. I'm gonna die some day anyway right, so why not try this formula you're suggesting? If it works i'll be set financially for life, if not i'll be back where i was or lose my life. Seems pretty straightforward to me. I'm not religious or anything but if i die i think i can atleast see my mom again. And so dying doesn't seem as scary as it usually is. I mean ofc noone wants to die but you know, this is the real world and you can't fake it until you make it. Because reality is either you make it, or you suffer and eventually die. If i had a choice ofc i would choose to live forever, but you must be realistic about this. Human life at this time isn't forever. Pension doesn't really have much value anyway. If you live to retirement, you still have to scrape by.
But the POWERFUL don't work for money, they work for CONTROL which they never give up, and I encourage all of you to never give up control. Anytime somebody wants you to sin a contract or give up personal information, or agree to let them do something, or give up a percent of your ownership, you are giving up control. Don't do that.
I have zero debt and as a result I have almost no stress. I make no house payment or car payment, at least not to a bank. I still pay, just to myself. And I don't buy on credit because that makes a person a slave to a credit score or a bank. If I can't pay for it, I don't buy it.
You should constantly work to get control of all aspects of your life back into your hands.

@@krazex Go get those loans from the bank but buy assets with it. Back in 2012 I went in debt to buy 3 trucks for $260,000. Now the debt is all paid and I have 6 trucks and all the money I earn is mine.

John Foster I’m a high school drop out. School seemed so full of shit for me. All I saw were people pretending to know stuff to not seems dumb. They say I know or yes to everything. But reality they have no clue. School weeds out people incapable of being sheep. Schools only award people that gets good grades and conforms to the system. I like financials. The money game. Non of what I know was ever taught in school. I like buying business with my money. I don’t buy new cars. I buy used cars that I don’t lose much money on. I love buying property. I loved being a sales person and I love making my money work for me instead of working for money. Don’t have a set salary I don’t make 150k a year but my net worth goes up pretty steadily yearly and I spend the profit I make from my properties and business into more houses more and gold. I love gold.

Everything he has thought there I learned in University. The only thing is that most students are so focused on getting a job and applying the knowledge they just acquired in someone else's business instead of really thinking about how to apply all this knowledge to their own life.
Secondly, you need CAPITAL and quite often if you don't have it from your parents, you NEED to work to ever get any Capital.
Lastly, phrases like "let your assets work for you" are completely wrong, your assets don't "work" for you or make you money, your employees are the ones doing that for you using your assets.
It's okay to be an employee, just think of yourself as a business of one and know your value. Also make sure you unionize so you can exert enough political pressure so the rules can be designed for you instead of always for the rich as he himself recognizes.

@IHaveSwatches you realize what market investments are, right? Stocks means you're buying into a company, and how does that company make money? You guest it right, the company's employees perform value adding activities using the capital you invested in it by buying stocks. Every business requires at least one employee, so even if you invest in real estate, you still have to manage, the assets, the tenancy, etc. Either you do it yourself in which case you are the one working for yourself and growing your own wealth or you hire someone else to use your assets OR capital to grow it. Other market investments such as debt instruments are not really "working for you" as you are simply a lender and you receive compensation in the form of interest (coupon payments)
$100k a year is still a ton of money it depends on who you are and where. I come from an under 10k household. Growing up that would’ve been a massive change of life.

My dad make 100k a year, because he uses his own knowledge and not other people (financial advisors etc..) he's in debt. I'd wouldn't work for 200k, I want to be making 1 million a year. That's my standard and I'll never settle until I reach there.

I listen to Kyosaki like 10 years ago and cause of him I started my own cleaning business and purchased 2 multi family rentals. No lie. He drops knowledge that’s so important it literally gets you out of the rat race. Just have to start small.
He isn't teaching anything here. All this video is saying is basically "get a lump of money, start a business". Ha, no sht! Who wouldn't want to start a business and earn a gazillion dollars? Reality is not everyone is lucky enough to start a successful business, those who tried, I am willing to say majority of them fail, and owe a tonne of debt, (we have family friends who started a restaurant business only to end up with a failed business and a $100,000 loss). If it was that easy everyone would be a millionaire by now. Get out of the rat race you say? LMAO! Going into business, trying to accumulate more money than others and looking down/mocking people who work a job as shown in this video, is the very definition of the rat race. As others have said, the day you die, how much of your money can you take with you?

I realized doing so would make me more money than actually having a career , so I left my dental assisting position and started doing my own thing, if I want a raise I just simply look for another office to provide my service too and bam!! There it is..... I hope to be extremely successful by the time I am 30, turning 25 in a few days and I couldn't be more happy to be doing my own thing....

Its true guys! This guy said the truth! I used to be working 8 hours a day 5 days a week! Now after I gave up my old job and ended up failing my new business because big capitalist companies can always kill small competition easily. I can sleep 20 hours a day and eat once a day in front of the church. I wash myself in the fountain and have been living around the park or on the bench near the post office.
