The Guitarist for Thunderclap Newman was Jimmy McCulloch who was but a teenager when this song was recorded. He later became lead guitarist for Paul McCartney and Wings. Sadly On 27 September 1979, McCulloch was found dead by his brother in his flat in Maida Vale, London. An autopsy found that McCulloch died of heart failure due to morphine and alcohol poisoning. He was 26 years old.

@@SimonMorelguitar loved the way you dissected the piano part. Thereve been times sitting, guitar in hand, when i least expect it, my ears disseminate a certain simple guitar section and it's like finding a gem of sorts.

    I’ll reach out!
No disrespect intended at all. This is great! There’s an E minor 3note ‘slide’ missing that only Jimmy would know.
    I’ll hit you up!
The greatest thing is your honoring Jimmy by doing this. And it’s great. Teaching other people. You’re awesome.
    Speak to your soon

Sooo… I have Jimmy’s best friend sitting next to me. It’s CLOSE! But not completely accurate. Jimmy taught him this song before it was a hit. Can I connect you two?

I always find it strange if a guitar player ca'nt hear a strumming pattern without having it explained

@@dommccaffry3802 After having taught guitar for 30 years, I've found that every student has things they find easy and others they find difficult - and they are never the same things! Some folks hear that easily and other need the numbers. It's what makes teaching interesting, we aren't all the same. Thanks for watching the lesson, all the best! Simon
