Reiner is not in a new form, he's totally exausted, so he's transformation is all messed up, that's the reason of the spikes on his shoulder. If tou give a better look he's not fully armored. It won't be explained, so it's not spoiler.
I actually thought it was a special form to fight Eren. It has no armour since there's no use for it against hardened knuckles and what's left is reshaped into blades around joints to prevent successessful graples by Eren against Reiner.
@@DzinkyDzink If you compare the fight between them in the next episode with the fight back in the third season, even with the hardened knuckles Eren doesn't destroy Reiner's face so easily, back there took 2 or 3 punches in the face, in the next episode Reiner goes down with just one. Reiner sure is in this form because of his mental state
@@LucasRodrigues-gv5tb yeah is in this form because he doesn't wanna live and fight

@@comeatmebro8120 I knew it wasn’t Armin because Yelena sounded too much like a woman pretending to be a man for me to believe that’s Armin and plus her face doesn’t look like his lol
The reason why Reiner titan looks different is because he didn’t have the complete will to live and fight. You have to have a goal or will in order to fully transform.
Also take in the fact that he has less armor while only having the goal to die.
I actually thought it was a special form to fight Eren. It has no armour since there's no use for it against hardened knuckles and what's left is reshaped into blades around joints to prevent successessful graples by Eren against Reiner.

The part with Pieck's squad is actually sad because they are all Marleyans and yet they've formed a relationship with an Eldian. Magath is shown to care about the warrior kids. Reiner is fighting tooth and nail for them. Even Porco is fighting for the sake of his friends. Even though these characters are supposed to be Antagonists, they're still human and they stand together. Which just makes the show all the more gray morally as the "good guys" are painted in a more negative light.
Also, small fun fact, Zeke saying, "As expected of Pieck, that's exactly right" became such a meme when it happened in the manga because he said it like 3 times. Zeke as a whole is just one giant meme during this arc.
Also while rewatching I saw how they had pictures with Pieck inside the gear.
Yeah, I've grown attached to the Warriors and the Candidates, same with Magath. The various Marleyans are such interesting characters, and so was the concept of the Tyburs, a noble family that carries one of the Nine.... imagine those IRL? 👀

43:06 YES, they did mention her name in the mid-info card last episode "War Hammer Titan." Her name is Lara Tybur.
How terrified Galliard sounds when he’s begging Eren to stop as he’s being forced to crush the warhammer always gets me. A warrior with one of the nine titans who has never faced a real threat considering his opponents have been soldiers like in episode 1. He has now been reduced to a simple nutcracker for his enemy to use to gain a new insane power
Yeah, props to the voice actor
Voice actor absolutely nailed it.

That, and the fact that there are only two soldiers with swords there lol.
ymir didnt know levi and mikasa were ackermans
@@kumamate978 it's most likely from Reiner. He knows both Mikasa & Levi are Ackerman. Back in season 3 part 2 he warned Zeke about how strong Levi is, and later he gets PTSD from Mikasa throwing thunder spear into his titan mouth. So yeah, he most likely warn the same to Porco.
@@kumamate978 Reiner and Zeke knew though
But Ymir never knew Levi was an Ackerman, Levi himself didnt know it, and we he founds OUT, Reiner and Bertholdt, they were no longer a part of the Scouts, so its posible that they knew this information, and its not like Levi introduced himself as an Ackerman during his fight with the Beast Titan. I'm not a manga reader, so maybe is in there were this information came out
This episode had 7 titans fighting in the same battlefield for the first time- attack, war hammer, cart, jaw, beast, colossal and armored all fighting at the same time
Edit: 8 titans considering eren has the founder. Only female titan missed the party
Reminds me of the glorious infighting days of the Eldian empire lol.

Jean was referring to when the Cart almost ate Hange and he saved her from season 3. He got her back.
Yeah so that he was actually saying THANKS FOR THE LAST TIME
yeah, and he shot Cart's right eye for Hange
To be clear. That is not a Reiner upgrade. It is a downgrade. Like that one time Eren was skinny and his hunan body was gangung out . Reiner's body and face lacks armour.
Eren Looks at porco…. Then back to Laura…then back to porco
Eren: well it must be fucking Christmas Time To put that nut cracker to use
"looks like Glenn from The Walking Dead"... not gonna lie, that comparison is on point.
"We pissin our pants yet?"
Poor Glenn 💔💔💔
"Look at em! His eyes just POPPED out!"
That suspense around Eren using Jaw to break the crystal was so well done _because_ it's just the type of moment where you'd expect someone to interject and save Tybur and Galliard at the last second, but it just... doesn't happen. Even after you see Eren drink the blood, we hesitate to believe it happened so straightforwardly until Koslow announced that it was indeed eaten.
Well said!
Also Eren's face looking as demonic as possible 😂
@@thelegacyofgaming2928 also after watching several reactions recently: His eyes arent green anymore they are grey/white similar to the founding titan (also way back in s1 in stohess against annie, he was so out of control and his eyes went to blue. I dont think Eren is in control anymore I believe the founder has taken over.
episode so hype they had to hold hands
SAME I HAD TO ON FIRST WATCH
We gotta give Porco credit, it was his first ever fight against another Shifter, an experienced one with a very aggressive combat style, much like his own Titan.
Had it been a 1v1 without that Tybur crystal, it would've been a far closer fight than people give credit for.
"I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling Ackermans"
-Porco, probably
Yeah, if Levi and Mikasa weren't there, Porco would have wrecked Eren right in the beginning. He was just unlucky enough to get a very bad matchup in his first Shifter fight and that made him look less capable than he really is. I also think he had a good point when he wanted to take Eren on immediately. It made sense for Pieck to assume the Paradis troops would go down easily since they had a huge disadvantage, but underestimating them (especially the Ackermans) never works out and waiting only gave them time to plan things out more, so I think Porco was also right to want to get the Founding titan from Eren as soon as possible. He's shown good intuition before, but sadly he just gets brushed off as a hot-headed arrogant person instead just because he also happens to dislike a certain popular character.
Also this is irrelevant, but I like your name and profile picture lmao
I mean that's generally the running theme of the show. If the Ackermanns weren't there to help him, he'd have been destroyed many times over.
Yeah but Porco is a proven warrior. Even though Zeke was a double agent, he still broke rank which gave levi the opening and left pieck vulnerable.
@@neneray310
As if Levi wasn't gonna get Zeke either way?
They had no reinforcements coming, (Nuked) surrounded by Enemies, and Zeke wasn't gonna help, and to keep Porco on the roof would've been a waste of a hella mobile Titan, one who would've been screwed if Thunder Spears started raining down and he constantly had to watch his own back and Piecks top.
He went for Eren and nearly succeeded, and he realized he couldn't defeat Eren with a shield, so he went for the only escape route the enemy had, instead of raging against Eren again. He had the right, more offensive idea, just wasn't able to execute it well.
He was gonna be reduced to a defensive role in a restricted area without dealing with the Founding Titan standing right there, and he would've broken ranks given the nature and best use of his titan
Still, you're right, he did fuck up, that much I'll admit, he cost them
@@vindifference
Yeah, true. Eren is a beast but he's often had help all throughout the show.
1v1's usually didn't go well for Eren... aside from maybe Reiner round 2, but Reiner's an ass fighter, so 😅
I think as someone who had to wait for season 4, we waited a while and when it came back we got introduced to the honorary marleyans, their relationships, their hardships and when our “heros” came back they commit war crime after war crime, makes it pretty hard to pick a side tbh
In the last scene, Reiner kinda just half transformed, hence why he has almost no armor Showing. It's kind of symbolic: that Reiner's form is more human looking showing his humanity while Eren's form looks more monstrous since he's losing his humanity. Reiner had to gain his humanity to help protect his allies while Eren had to let go of his humanity to keep moving forward.
wow that’s dope
"What power would Eren gain if he ate the cart?"
There definitely are things each titan could enhance. Cart has the best endurance, Pieck was in titan form for months on end sometimes. That's something Eren could gain from it, no other titan can do it. And the beast Titan is physically stronger than any other titan. He crushed rocks to dust on accident in S3 and beat Armored Titan in a brawl.
This ep is awesome. Eren using Galliard to eat the war hammer titan, and his voice while saying please stop, that was such a sad moment. Also, Piek losing her friends who work with her was a pretty sad scene 💔

Eren and Armin are mass murderers now, very self awarilingly making an even more evil decision than Reiner/Bertoltd/Annie. This show is true genius in turning the heros of the show into the true evil villians that they hated at the beginning of the show.
edit: Wow Jaegerist's are a truly different breed, actually defending the mass murder of innocent people because "They didn't kill as many tho!1!1!" and the even better "The civilians just got caught in the crossfire, its not part of the themes of the show at all! What parallel?". Actually insane takes from these people, Isayama is literally calling out these very people in the show and yet they still don't get it.
The only thing Eren did wrong was not knock up Mikasa
Bingo
One thing people don't realize that Armin killing the Marley's 20,000+ member Navy is more people dying than when Reiner and Bertolt blew up the wall.
According to AOT wiki, approximately 10,000 people died during the wall attacks in season 1.

So you were rooting for the people who were gonna wipe paradise off the map?
@@daryeusford9696 fax, i really dont understand why there are so many people who hate Eren for what he did. Like what ? What do you expect him to do, sit on paradise island and wait till they all get slaughtered ?Eren is just trying to free his people, free the people he loves. And sadly the only way for freedom for the Eldians is by killing everyone else because the whole world hated them even after Tybur told the official story that King fritz was the one who saved everyone, they were still ready to destroy paradise island tho. I think Reiner's titan looks like that because his first transformation (the one he did underground to save Falco) took a lot of energy out of him. He was almost in a coma from it. So to transform into full armor from that state wasn't gonna happen because he was too fatigued.
Also he doesn't even want to fight, he just forces himself to.
At this moment of the story Eren became the most powerfull being in the whole world, like there's no one who can fight him in a 1 vs 1, they need an army just to take him out.

Galliard's voice acting in this episode was just top top tier. When he was begging Eren to stop I felt so bad for him man.
Exactly. Just the thought of being forced to kill your own comrade, using your own teeth nonetheless, really makes me feel bad for him. Especially since he was the last actual titan that could go against Eren, as Zeke, Pieck, and Lara were down, with Reiner nowhere in sight. I don't blame him for losing his cool. The voice acting for him was really top-tier.
Reiner the best character in Aot
Kinda disturbing how hype yall are watching the warriors get destroyed tbh. Like I understand it's a pretty hype episode in general but still.
The Jaw Titan was the most active only because he kept charging in against orders in without a plan. He’s literally the reason Levi sneak attacks the Beast. Pieck tells him right before to chill out and guard Zeke’s rear, and as soon as he stupidly takes off after Armin pops up Levi attacks from where he was supposed to be watching. He’s like Pat Bev, just running around doing nothing
About Reiner's form. Titans always transforms for the task shifter has in mind as a goal. Eren wants to pick a spoon, he only needs an arm, he want to protect them from a cannon ball, he only needs a ribcage and arm, Berthold on top of the wall is only half body etc. The form of the transformation is always dependant on the subconscious goal of the user, that was very well established. Reiner has no will to live, he just sort of wants to save Galliard for the sake Falco and Gabi and die. For this task, you don't exactly need full armour. His goal is entirely offensive in nature.
Also it was established in the show, that when the titan user is exhausted or weakened, the titan is often deformed. That is probably also part of the reason.
And finally, this in not transformation 2.0, but more like transformation 0.5. Yes it looks scarier, but having incomplete armour is definitely more of a disadvantage then some weird spikes that are practically as dangerous to the user as to the enemy.
Its important to remember that Marleyans are people just like our main cast, not arch villains.
It’s always interesting seeing people’s reactions to this episode. Some are hype for Erin and crew. Reiner transformed while he is exhausted that's why he is without his armor
In the manga pieck had a hole in her stomach (anime censored that)
Interesting facts
1) you can see that the panzer unit had their artillery chambers decomposed with stuff one had a sugestive picture of his girlfriend/wife and the whole unit included pieck
2) armin's explosion seems way stronger that berthold's in s3 because of several reasons, when a bomb explodes the energy is released in every direction, if the same bomb is closer to the ground the energy that isn't absorbed bounces in every direction too making the explosion essentially stronger in the other directions, and perhaps even more importantly the water rapidly expanded, that's commonly known as an explosion, meaning armin didn't only hit them with almost the maximum force conditions to his own explosion he also used another bomb
