    Hello !
    For once, during the editing, I didn't share the tears I had on screen. I should have, because clearly, I cried like hell, for Armin, for Erwin, for Levi, for Eren, for Mikasa, for Connie… A lot. Because I understood all of their arguments, to save this or this one, it was for logical and emotional ones each time. But the fact is that, for me, the choice was not real : it was not Armin. Like really, I managed to convince myself so much of that, that I was crying for them who had to make that choice but it was not a real one.
    The denial was so high, that I had real big laughs during the editing, being like "Gurl, you're fighting so much the truth, I'm sad for you, you're too sweet, but that much, it's insane". I had to put these subtitles, just to show you that my denial was totally honest, and then I was beginning to understand that it was the truth but I was fighting it, then I found a new solution to be back with an honest denial, to finally see the truth when the truth was really in front of my eyes.
    I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

      @@thesmackdragon For me too. Over more than 30 animes watched, only one that I will not name here for spoilers reasons made me cry. This episode was the closest to make aot the second. The crucial detail was if Captain Livai would cry or not over his decision. Even a single tear from him could have break me the first time I saw this episode.

      Small things like the relationship between Moblit and Hange is what I appreciate about AoT. The author doesn't put it in your face throughout the series but let's it linger in the background, still existing in a very real way and only really becoming apparent to the viewer after everything happens but, once you go back and re-watch you see that it was always there; he was always with her, defending her and by her side til the very end.

    Oh Laura your denial is so adorable 🙂 For me, the grimaced expression Armin had whilst being burned alive and the body found were the same.
    It was a horrible weight to be put on Levi's shoulders. He clearly looked up to Erwin and has to consider his last conversation with him, his last conversation with Kenny and everyone arguing who deserves to live. Poor guy.

    Levi wanted Erwin to rest more than to save Armin. Erwin accepted that he’ll never know the secrets of the basement when he smiled and thanked Levi before his speech.
    Floch calling him a devil is like a callback to when Armin and Jean were talking by the trees during the Female Titan arc. They mentioned that only a person who sacrifices their humanity can truly change the world. Erwin is the only person who can make sacrificial choices for the common goal. When Floch saw that Erwin’s plan really worked against impossible odds (Levi killing the other Titans), he knows that Erwin is the only one “who can rebel against this cruel world”.

    If talking about who gave the more efficiently benefits (and less sacrifice) on that time, yes it was Armin for sure. But if talking about future benefits, especially on the decision making and leadership on season 4, Erwin would be a better choice against the new "antagonist" more effectively, efficiently, and wisely. Even Erwin would give a best ending for Attack on Titan.
    *Note: but still, Armin's existence until final episode is Isayama's true ending

    This is a heart wrenching episode, everyone was just so emotionally driven, like Hange who's usually in a cool mood completely enraged since Moblit sacrificed for her, Mikasa who usually hides her feelings just having a mental breakdown and Eren as well. Poor Bethtold although he's in the "bad" side and has done unforgivable stuff I felt bad for him. This was a tough decision because both Erwin and Armin have been absolutely helpful to humanity in many ways but I'm happy Armin is back and RIP Erwin, Moblit, etc.

    I like Armin, but he doesn't have the experience and the incentive to make decisions right then and there. Erwin(despite disliking him) has enough experience and incentive to make decisions without hesitation. Logically, Erwin is the one who should've been saved over Armin.

    • @BuxtonsWater
      @BuxtonsWater 2 года назад +2

      But the problem is that Erwin was very focused on just getting to the basement, while Armin had dreams even further beyond, which is kind of the point of the Scouts, to go beyond. And Armin is essentially just a less-experienced version of Erwin.

    • @TexasGreed
      @TexasGreed 2 года назад +1

      @@BuxtonsWater this is it. he remembered how Kenny told him everyone is drunk on something. erwin was drunk on the basement. Levi realizes that the scope of armins dream is far larger and farther. erwins incentive goes away the moment he proved his father right. he even admits himself he was only fighting for that dream and humanity was essentially lucky it aligned with their goals. Levi understands that this war isn't over and that Armins dream will push him forward and turn him into another Erwin over time. really Armins dream is the biggest of them all even helped to kickstart Erens journey.

    This show demonstrates hard choices so well, it felt like Sophie's Choice but with more riding on the decision than just the life of the person they chose. The show has constantly shown what an uphill battle mankind is faced with and it takes heavy tolls on everyone involved, Armin is only 15 and has only suffered for a few years of horrors(despite it he still carried a spark of hope), Erwin has lived long enough in the horror that he had to become a demon to survive(Armin even admitted it was necessary to save humanity). It's easy to understand why both were worthy of saving, but in the end Levi decided to let his friend rest, and now that will be on both his and Armin's conscience.
    Anyways great video, I was in a similar state of denial when I first watched it but I kept thinking they could somehow save both. Hope you are able to enjoy the rest of the series and I look forward to seeing your reaction to the ending of the season.

    When i watch this seen for the first time i was on Armin's side.
    Erwin's driven force was to shallow, He wanted to prove to himself that he was right and that he wasn't responsible for his dad death.
    He could have found a greater goal after finding out the info but we couldn't know
    Armin on the other hand, his driving force was beyond just knowing the truth or killing the titans. It was about restoring the beauty and potential of humanity.
    Today's expression for that is shooting for the stars.
    We know that after finding the truth Armin would still have the motivation to push even further. We don't know if Erwin would be has driven as he was after his goal was attained.

    Looking back at this episode armin was clearly the correct choice.
    On erwins side everybody except two people died. Levi and floch. You can't count Levi because he wasn't part of the suicide charge. He was put in charge of killing the beast titan, which he failed to do. So technically only one person survived and that was floch and the mission was a failure.
    On armin's side ONLY armin died.. Not only that but they succeeded in taking down the colossal titan. If Erwin didn't do the suicide charge then eren and everybody else could have helped them out dealing with he beast titan. Either that or do a full retreat further in to the walls and reset.
    Verdict: armin was the correct decision to bring back to life because his side of the wall succeeded in his mission 100%. On erwin's side, because Levi couldn't kill the beast titan he got away and took Reiner back.
