Every time I get a set of trucks I take them apart and rub wax on all the contact points, and shave some wax into the pivot cup. Regular old paraffin, gulf wax. Keeps them from sticking/squeaking
Went from Thunder lights to standard Slappy's a few months ago. 😆 Pretty aggressive switch up, but I've found with trucks as long as they have a similar turning radius (Thunders & Slappy's both have a tight turn), the rest doesn't really matter as much as people think. Love em both.
Love the Slappy's but only use it on the curbs. I am turned into an ACE for the most part. Only problem is ACE doesn't make a old school bolt pattern base plate. So still on Indys for boards that require that. I am on the Bones 99X. Absolutely love them in the park. I like the peaceful music in the video. Stay Rad Sir.
Thanks for your other low profile Slappy video. I love em' after only 2 sessions. You really can lean into those turns. They have a "predictive turning" (you have to predict where you are going) element, like Venture, but not really, because you can make sharper turns like a Thunder or Indy.. They bounce back to the center nicely. I've always gravitated towards the Venture and Thunder end of the spectrum. The regular model Sappy's are too high for me. I didn't know thre was a "low profile" model until your video, so thanks for the review. I almost bought the V8's instead. Glad I didn't!
Indy mids are really not great. They are way too heavy. I think unless you need really big wheels, forged hollow stage 11s are the best indies on can get right now. I wish they were a bit shorter though because I don't need 53.5mm axle height.
I hope Andy Anderson watches this so that he sees your dragons worn down lol, he has a video where he said the dragons don’t wear down. I had a set from the first week that they were out in summer ‘22 and they were so great worn down and small. I’m regretting giving that set away to a kid but not at the same time
Wax does work well on pivots and bushings, but I use dish soap because it's just handy. So these Slappy trucks . . are they somewhere between Indy and Thunder?
i've alwaaays been a thunder or indy guy, been skating for over 20 years, i love the inverted king pin idea of hella more clearance for grinds, my only problem is i love titanium trucks so i want titaniums or hollows with the most clearance on the trucks + the lightweight, i never tried ace or slappys but if they made titaniums with the clearance i sure would love to give it a try, TITANIUMS FOR LIFE THOUGH.
Yeah, they are slightly harder but they’re also way bigger. There’s a lot more surface area which causes more friction. They also make the trucks wider because they are sideset. With more surface area and the water truck the truck turns less and it’s harder to do three flips it’s just stickier.
Michael. Nice video. My 11yr old is a beginner. Bought Indys 139 Silver 11 for a Quasi 8.0 and Spitfire 54mm f4s. Do you think it is a good setup ? He is working on a kickflip. Sime say too heavy and too high trucks.
just put a little bit of SILICONE SPRAY around the Bushings and pivot cups when they squeak, makes them turn way smoother and removes the squeak completely. Really no one talks about this, but for me it is the only solution that works, wax shavings are being pushed out, lithium grease destroys the bushings. Silicone Spray is perfect for rubber metal contact.
The Indy IKP is a nuisance, imo. Initially the clearance is really good, but once the hangar is worn to where the kingpin hits the grinding surface, it continually loosens. Loctite did not remedy the issue. Very annoying
Damn, I've chewed through my tensors in the past year and a half, most of the nuts ground away, nylon is gone and the hollow of the axle is exposed never had it loosen on me. So Littles left now, I can't loosen it if I want. BTW locktite will make the nylon in your nuts brittle. try a thread tape instead (plumbing tape) or just replace the nut.
maybe someone else that has more current experience can tell me if my suspicions are true. did the quality of indys go down when they moved production to china? they used to be the only rational choice before thunders and grind king came out. there was also my favorite set of trucks i ever had which were the san diegos . anyhow i bought a pair of indys when i decided to come back to skating before i knew they had moved. since then i bought a pair of grind kings but its been raining ever since i got them so they didnt even get broke in yet.

same here. take them apart before i even mount them

Use your Indy base w the ace hanger ya dang dingus
You should make a video reviewing each pair of trucks you've had. It would be interesting.
so rad skateing here
As a devout Ace guy, I’m quite curious how Slappy compares.

I've been riding slappy trucks and I love mine.

Do you feel that 55 is too high ? How does that affect ?
that's a great little local park you got there. 👍

All wheels wear down. Everything erodes. Memento mori
Those don't look like dragon wheels at all lol. I'm stoked to try slappy trucks though.

Yeah that’s what the owner says.
@@MichaelRelevant that'd be just about perfect, for many, but Gullwing are the ultimate turn. Venture a close 3rd after Indy.

Hey Michael, been enjoying your content. Maybe I missed it, but what deck is that that you said is a good set up for you? Thank you!

Sweet. Thank you so much!
Can you tell me about the wheelbase of trucks ? Do the trucks shorten or lengthen your wheelbase?
Slappy would be the shortest then Indy then Thunder then venture would be the longest wheelbase.
@@MichaelRelevant ace?
What size is your dragon wheels?
They were 53mm
Are those the Nano Cubic wheels that you didn't like? If so, Im surprise you find them more sticky than the 93A Dragons. Good to know tho.

I think you can learn to kickflip on anything. Probably fine. Some low thunders and really tiny wheels might be easier slightly.
He should ride a 7.5 if he's only 11

Truth. I use a tacky silicone suspension bushing grease for cars.
Drop of bones speed cream and voilà.

damn man screw that . that annoys me just hearing about it

If u want that same feeling but refuse to ride anything other than Indy’s like myself just go w double conicle bushings… 0:27
those Dragons look weird shape-wise 😅 Are those V4's worn down a lot? They look kinda square/conical 😊
V1 they have a smaller contact patch.

Quality probably did go down but it’s hard to really tell.
I know gifted hater talked about that a lot.
Hope u had a awesome thanksgiving
I hope you had a great thanksgiving.
What deck is that?? Also what size dragons (non cubics) did you have??
