Of all the terrible ways to learn knife defense, you'd be surprised what you come up with after having someone chase you around with a foam knife for 2-5 years.

I think even in the worst case scenario Tomiki can help a LOT! But we're not gonna make any claims of self defense as we're not experts nor Tomiki practitioners, but I personaly love the art and would enjoy competing in it

That's one of the reasons why I appreciate Tomiki Aikido so much, at least they pressure test empty hand techniques against knives ( with practice knives obviously ).

the scoring system checks for contact - the blade is covered with blue chalk. now consider there are people who can escape that unscathed.

One of the things I’ve done is to wear old clothes and have a ‘knife duel’ using marker pens as knives

that actually shows how many times someone got tagged with a knife. We did some short lightsaber duels yesterday and and you need to be the flash in order to avoid any and all contact XD But the battery of the one died during practice so we did not film any of that :( but next time for sure :D

@@martialgeeks I reckon those electric knives that give a little jolt would be the most fun. Imagine that video 😂😂

You should've gotten some training from Dale from Detroit Urban Survival Training.
I bet then you would be able to avoid all the pokey pokes.
