We have a saying in Scotland 'harrow like you priced the job and roll like you're paid by the hour' you certainly harrowed that pasture. regards from Scotland (had snow and -7c this morning).
He’s got all the cool toys! Don’t forget to turn the fence back on. Oh, and just a friendly tip, NEVER straddle any part of a 3-point bitch...one slip and you’ll be singin’ soprano!
In spite of yourself you actually went about the seeding in the right manner. Busting up the cow piles and existing grasses has kept you from having naked spots. Dragging is a very good idea as your germination rate will improve when the seed is fully surrounded by soil. You'll be a gentleman farmer in no time at this rate.
I thought this video was wonderful and I thought you did an amazing job.. Me personally I have to use a disc harrow but I have to tread lightly.. All in all, I think you did an excellent job.. Thank you for making this video because you taught me many things.. 😁
I'm glad I watched that! I know what I will be doing in about two months. I have about 3 acres I keep mowed around the house that has needed some attention for a while! I may go over it with my thousand lb roller once the seed is down. Then I will have to cut grass every three days next summer! :o(
I know this is an older video but I think you ought to put a center hydraulic cylinder on that I have a similar tractor I think yours is an m class mines and L class I know yours is in a Kubota what's a spin-off of it but regardless if you have any hydraulic outputs in the back I put a cylinder on that the other day I was watching you use the Box plate with that you just set your grading X or the forks just high enough that when your box blading or scraping in the back you just tilt it back do your scrape and then you can leaning forward and brings in them Forks just a thought
Maybe some of that mulch from the sawmill for that area around the shelter that will never grow. Keep them out of the mud, look real nice, and it'll pretty much be free.
We used to do the same with a 6 foot harrow with the disc set straight. Ran lightly it had notched disc to they made little pot holes sort of. We spread with a pull type fert spreader borrowed from our local co-op then pulled a drag made of chain length fence wire. Worked for us in a pinch. Chris..... have you ever thought of the "company" buying a lift type no till drill? Great Plains and Haybuster make good ones. You could use it as a business expense and use it on the farm. Just a thought.........
Remember as a teenager doing a summer job mowing a big lawn with a little Kubota and a flail mower on the back. I didn't lock the top link and the more I drove the shorter the link got. After an hour I was rotovating rather than mowing. Was wondering why it was taking more throttle to keep the PTO RPMs right. Lawn looked a bit sad for a few weeks, it has to be said.
You made grooves wit the rake, tilled in any metal muffins, Then your master plan was to seed and feed the pasture. turkeys followed you for a meal and will leave fertilizer. Cover it tommorow with the yanmar tracks and prevent other birds from eating. :) Cool video. The candy place had clove hard candy drops this week (hand made). Sounds just like the Saurkraut and kimchee farmer. they grow cabbage, harvest it, make kimchee and such, and then the pig farmer brings the pigs to come and eat the clippings and turn the soil (and Fertilize) before replanting. :) If you have cow manure and a spreader now would be the time 1/4".
You need a hydraulic top link on your 3 point hitch, Agri Supply has them in Garner. They are awesome. The other ultra cool upgrade is the SpeeCo Quick Hitch. The only catch with them is you need implements that are meant for them or you need to modify your implements to fit it. I modified mine so far to fit mine and I really like the combination on the hydraulic top link and the quick hitch. No more wrestling and kicking and screwing. Oh, and Agri also has the quick hitch.
The raking and going over with the drag will also break up the cow pies and spread them around. All those white turkey dinners are going to hammer the seed.
That's just funny as hell !!! lololol... You dropped the hammer on the tractor and let r rip !! lolol....you do shit like i would , got to go son...Don't know if it's got to you there yet but, the Cold and Snow has hit here in western ky. tonight !! Better get those critters on lock down supposed to get really , really cold for the next few days ... Great as always Chris... Have a Great Evening Man !!
You honestly could have just broadcasted the seed and it would have grown. Winter rye will grow almost anywhere. Even in the back of pickup. The thatch makes for a good seed bed. The rake will help make better seed to soil contact.
I'm a little sad that you didn't use the Ford. Love the old Force II tractors (even though I have a MF 135, I'd have a Force II Ford tomorrow if I could find a decent one).
If you dont know if you got farm animals on property but aren't a farmer you can get a discount on the land taxes. My neighbor has cows, horses and donkeys and that's the only reason he has the animals is to get a discount on the property due to claiming it as farm land.
Don't worry about the birds Tom dick and harry will get most of the seed and will they be ready for xmas plus if you have a good butcher nearby you can make a pork tur duckin with maybe a quail in the stuffing or definitely dove since we blast them out of the sky biannually
I have an MX55. The fact that u can raise your 3 point from behind the tractor is amazing ❤
Feeding the Turkeys and Seeding the field, now that's multitasking! Everybody's happy. Lightening Speed.

Anxious to see how your field turned out!!!!
I want to see the pasture in a few weeks...PLEASE!! Just a 2 minute video...I need to do the same thing. Really dry summer, hay is expensive!
He’s got all the cool toys! Don’t forget to turn the fence back on. Oh, and just a friendly tip, NEVER straddle any part of a 3-point bitch...one slip and you’ll be singin’ soprano!
Hell that worked out pretty damn good I will tell my friends who have horses they can do the same thing thanks Chris 😎👍👍
Chris what is the story with all those turkeys?
Chris you might consider getting a small disc that would pull easy and you could cut it a little deeper and get a better seed bed
Good thing about using the rake is it breaks up the cow manure clumps and works them into the ground. Will make the seed grow better.

Like the cows. And turkeys. Lots to be done on a farm.
Hammer down farmer!!!
A little air time won't hurt with a successful landing.
I just watched a FarmLifeNC video, that's definitely Chris's farm ,but who is the guy doing the video? it wasn't Chris.
significant other

Makes no difference to me
Did your drag come from New York? #WWACD 🤣 I couldn’t resist
Chris what are you doing with all the turkeys? I hadn't seen them before.
Who’s David?. Thought I was hearing things till I saw the turkeys. Who needs fertilizer when you have cow patties.
David is his partner.
@@icecool7687 Well I found another channel to binge on. Cheers! *waves to Chris and David*
You were certainly teaching that poor tractor a lesson! :-O
I'd never seen a rally tractor before! :-)
haha I was short on time
type in "traktor racing volvo terror

I would burn the field then rack it. char is a good fertilizer.Wait to seed field right before a rain comes.
With all these turkeys, you will have an amazing thanksgiving dinner.

With all the projects stacking up did you forget you have a super workshop to work in this winter. There is always a tomorrow.
i ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO CHRIS 😊

Great job!!
Wasn’t efficient if you dragged the tracks behind the seeder so it was saving you time?

Your baby cows are so CUTE! 😍
Baby cows do do do do do Baby Cows, sing it if you know it 🐂😆
Being a guy who runs equipment everyday, what do you think of that Kioti?
Now you know the turkeys are wondering why your throwing dinner all over the feild
Looked like the turkeys were looking for a free feed when you first started.

I usually just hook my drag to the draw bar and pull it behind my seeder.
The rake will break up the poop as well
flail mower on the tall stuff. new definition of no till seeding, eh? what every estate owner needs on his mini ranch
Nice video of the farm Chris 👍👌⚠️
Looks like the rake worked great. Who needs a seeder.
How many turkeys do u have I see a good many
there are a few size plug aerators with seeders for a 3 point hitch out there
Orchard grass, Timothy & alfalfa?
You honestly could have just broadcasted the seed and it would have grown. Winter rye will grow almost anywhere. Even in the back of pickup. The thatch makes for a good seed bed. The rake will help make better seed to soil contact.
I would have mounted the rake on the front forks, put the seeder on and hooked the drag behind and done it in one pass
Need to put some fescue seed on it to so you have a spring time grass for the cows
looks like you opened the seeder lever then first bump you hit it closed it up again so not a very even spread,
how did the pasture take? im debating a drill seeder but already have a fertilizer spreader
Grow a few of those turkeys big, like 40+lbs then grind the entire birds, mix white and dark meat. It's really good 👍
The turkeys are gonna eat it all up before it sprouts and before David rings their necks!
You can't pump water from your pond in the pasture ?
I'm ready for them to be gone they are shitting on everything
@@letsdig18 Free fertilizer, lol.

That is a lot of free range turkeys , Are they for Thanksgiving dinner this year?
Is That a Kubota UTV (side by side). What model...??
Is it possible to super heat & then cool the parts that keep bending to reharden the metal?
How do you like the Kioti tractor?
Chris those turkeys are going to eat all of your seed. Lol God bless
Made the turkeys happy LOL

You need a 5ft disc to work the ground then use the drag to smooth it out but sometimes you use what you got. Stay safe
then I would have had a mud hole this entire winter
@@letsdig18 use the disc just so it scratches the top layer but leave the dead grass on top which you are already doing with the rake
How did it do?
Put the tracks on a 20ft chain and drag it behind they spreader at the same time then your taking care of both at the same time.
i like all of your videos and it looks like alot of fun to work for youn
Need to make a new piece for the mower 3 point hitch we bent ours and tyres repaired but bent again due to heating so got another one .
Turkeys love grass seed
Chris, how do you like the Kioti tractor? I'm considering buying one.
for the money I think its a overall decent tractor, def the coldest A/c Ive ever felt in a machine
I hope you've got rain in the forecast.
rained all night
My uncle seeds his yard every year round this time
With all that feed you just put down you are going to have a whole flock of nice fat Turkeys.
I'd have went north and south then east and west I don't know if you did or not but that's how I'd have done it.

12 minutes into the video and not a seed on the ground. Hell he hasn't even raked it yet.
Fun Quiz: What is the basic difference between horns and antlers?
Horns keep growing and growing. Antlers are seasonal and fall off.
Alan Smith horns are also hollow and antlers are solid. And when I say hollow I’m talking about after the flesh is removed
You keep making farming videos you might need to add farmer18 to your handle. Lol
Had the dukes of hazard playing in the tractor?
