AC: My grandfather, Eugene Vahey of Kingston, PA, was a DL&W engineer and retired from this very engine (then the DL&W 959) in 1955. His entire family--his two children (including our mother), their spouses, and his five grandchildren at the time (yours truly, my brother, and our three first cousins)--all attended the afternoon retirement as he stepped down from the 959 for the last time. We have both beautiful black-and-white photos and digitized color films of the afternoon event, as well as the retirement party that evening at his/our family home. Can't wait to see this wonderful engine restored to its original true colors! Bob Mulderig, Washington, DC
Just saw this geep running inline with the other ALCOs on the DL. Still in faded conrail blue, but renumbered 959!!! Pretty sure she will soon be wearing her original Lackawanna black paint!!!!
jogging my memory back to 1977. seeing a CR coal train nb, south of dayton, ohio and seeing 3 rebuilt GP's together, no other power, and they were the rebuilt ones with the low nose.
I've seen it run by my late Grandparents' old house in East Stroudsburg while visiting them, as their back porch had front row seats of the Delaware Lackawanna.
Dang...that was so much info.... in just 3min and some change....Lol and yes we heard that before thanks for the history lesson.. cant wait to see what's next?👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
I kind of favor the older unit and i will be good to hopefully see her in action in one of your future video's and hopefully she will get one of her original paint scems keep up the good work AC

A fine piece of work. What I find interesting is that the locomotive's horn is still side mounted. A very fascinating history indeed!
Indeed.. Did you notice the many different versions of horns over the years??
I did notice that. Seems she is a lady of many voices!
