I was at Eglinton station an hour earlier before you filmed this. I was transferring from the southbound subway to the 32 bus. Glad I missed all of this.
Last month I was stuck at Summerhill Station due to an assault that happened at the station before the train pulled in. Apparently a man randomly slapped a 12 year old girl in the face and then started running down the subway tunnel. They had to shut the power off so the man wouldn't get electrocuted.
Even though they really need to get their shit together with the TTC it has me curious. Is one of the busiest subway in North America just as bad as the MTA in New York? Because I've heard a lot of other horror stories from the New York subway these days
The TTC would dispatch shuttle buses (that never come) if a train operator had to tie one of his shoes. It's not surprising the protocols here are pathetically slow.
I don't like riding busses when the subway goes down, last time something like this happened I legit walked home. And I was faster than the bus because there was heavy traffic at yonge street, lol.
Such a shame that this great city has this poor public transportation. TTC is really outdated compared to European big city systems, everything is old, squeaky old metro cars etc... For the cost of living there I would expect top notch public transportation.
Not just European systems. If you've been to Asia, like Singapore, Japan and a couple of others, you'll come to realize that the TTC is like a subway system in a 3rd world city compared to their far superior, technologically advanced, clean , safe and efficient systems.
Come to Halifax if you’d like to still use change or have to go to the grocery store for tickets to get on Metro Transit, which the bus or ferry is the only option in the city aside from cabbing or having a car. Don’t forget the service reductions every few months ❤️
Every weekday a delay around 2:00pm you can set your watch by delays . I'm serious . Everyday subways early closing or completely closed on weekends for "TRACK AND SIGNAL UPGRADES" and NOTHING improves . TTC " constables" nowhere to be seen and always homeless crackhead everywhere .
I used the TTC to go to work every day, back in the late 70's & never had a problem. I moved in the 80's. I always thought Toronto was an excellent city.
Hi Johnny! Wow, I can’t believe that there was no subway service between Eglinton and Bloor stations. Good thing you managed to take the 32 Eglinton West to Eglinton West station. I remember when I was travelling downtown with the subway, I think back in September of last year there was a subway closure on line 1 between Sheppard-Yonge and St. Clair station and I had to take the 84 Sheppard West to Sheppard West stn. Anyways, happy Friday! Hope you’re enjoying your time off!

One solution to the yearly 20-25 suicide attempts on the TTC is to install platform screen doors as currently installed on the UP Express at Union and Pearson. It is possible to retrofit the existing TTC platforms at an estimated cost of $1 Billion. This installation would also deter unauthorized people on track level, which also causes delays. By the way, the new Ontario line will be fully automated and have platform sliding doors.
@@Nunavuter1 they could do it at the busy ones where people tend to fall on the tracks the most often (do to a combination of things like overcrowding and narrow platforms). Bloor Yonge in particular is the most imfamous of these stations that needs platform screen doors. As to “how will they pay for it” question; well if the government is already spending $1 Billion on expanding that station in particular, the real question should be why they aren’t putting platform screen doors there?
@@jakestar121 The coming service cuts to the TTC will make it a lousier service across the city, and "save" $42 million in the process. Eight minutes between subway trains after 10 PM. So spending money on platform doors at even Bloor-Yonge is like asking for the moon.
@@Nunavuter1 You didn’t answer my question. They’ve already announced $1.5 billion dollars of funding to expand and upgrade that station. It’s not about “if” the funding will be there, because it already is. I’m asking that in a deal of $1500 million dollars on one station, that “they couldn’t afford” to take $25 million of that (about 1.6% of the total expansion cost) to use it on building platform screen doors that would prevent accidents where people fall onto the tracks? It seems to be more an issue where the government doesn’t want to improve the safety at bloor and yonge instead of not being able to afford to make those improvements
Normal day at TTC. I had to go though that chaos multiple times every day. This must be a safety concern at the station and they closed everything for that. One day it happened right in front of me. There was naked panhandler on the train and the driver was begging people to not give him any money as he was assaulting and shouting at people. He entered the train at bloor young and train was OOS at wellesley. Probably someone pressed the yellow tape. I walked to college station only to realize that they were sending the train back from union. Took me 20+ mins to walk to work from there. Sometimes there would be issues on line 2 and then again on line 1. Other times the Bloor station is totally closed. TTC is a mess and people have started driving instead due to these daily delays.
I got caught in this shitstorm just as it started. I ended up walking (with my bass guitar) down to Yonge because how they handled the shuttle busses were terrible.
Paying 3.50 for a fare, millions of commuters every day. Bailouts from feds, province and the city. This is the proof that you can have all the money in the world, but if you are a dolt, hiring unionized dolts, you reap what you sow.
