Yaxha: One of the oldest Maya sites in the Peten region.

I'm visiting Yaxha Archaeological Park in Peten, Guatemala. This is one of the oldest Maya sites, established as early as 1,000 BC. People lived there for 1,900 years, and the site grew to a population of as high as 42,000.
One of the best sites for viewing the spectacular sunset is the top of the 30 metre high pyramid on the East Acropolis. And wait until you hear the howler monkeys! I hope you enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed visiting this place.
