Idol escape scene behind the scenes: The rock boulder set-piece for the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors was achieved through the use of a hidden arm-like contraption that allowed the free-spinning boulder to tumble down the chute. While it could be returned to its position for further takes, the boulder broke the set's stalactites as it rolled, necessitating repairs for each attempt. The Chachapoyan Fertility Idol is based on the Dumbarton Oaks birthing figure, part of the pre-Columbian collection at Dumbarton Oaks. The artifact is thought to depict the Aztec goddess Tlazolteotl

Absolutely sick! When a set tells a story, that’s when you know it’s a legit set. The details are everything. Not to mention it’s not just a display set! It’s JUST as playable as the original Temple Escape set! And with the lights off, the Idol part looks MENACING! Sure it’s missing the plane but I don’t mind that if it means getting to see this legendary temple again.

*Yes, because 150 to 200 in comparison to the original 90 to 110 with the plane and yes MORE playable; this is legit entirely for your display case, and I'd rather display*

Got to be the best lego diorama set I've seen. Aesthetically amazing, plenty of play features. Stunning build and its Indiana Jones. Triumph of a set this, can't wait!
I think what would have helped with the whip swinging scene would be including the second whip piece, the extended whip in light brown that is sometimes used for horse carriages and catwoman.
What I love about this is not only is it a display set, it’s also sort of like a playset with all the features it has. I was never able to get any of the original lego indy sets and always felt jealous not having this set as a kid. I’m definitely getting this set as soon as possible. And luckily I have a way to get it half off so even better

Man this revival is dope. I still remember buying the original version of this set back in 2008 and I adored it. Even made my first bank account so I could save money to buy all the sets. Timing is perfect too because I almost tried to waste all my money buying the original sets and did get a couple but didn't get too far with that. Hoping they do something for Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull in addition to the new movie.

I love how they used the same hairpiece as Doc Ock in a couple of previous sets since they're both played by Alfred Molina.
Edit: Also with the instructions the 4 scenes we see is the Well of Souls (we're getting a set), the Temple of Kali (Lego have supposedly cancelled it), the plane chase with the car (we're getting a set) and exploring a cave (nothing yet). I don't know if this means anything but who knows?
I don't know if any Community fans will see this comment, but all I can think of is how much this looks like the diorama in Troy and Abed's apartment in Remedial Chaos Theory.

I just want any Pirates of the Caribbean sets. The 2011 line was during my dark ages and I was so annoyed that we only got one D2C set based on the new movie in 2017. Same with Toy Story. Was hoping for remakes but we got 4+ sets instead

I would kill to get a ucs Dutchman. Best ship in the franchise. A kraken thumper feature and an organ room would be sick
I hate stickers BUT, where they jump over the cavern, maybe if they designed a sticker to look like it's a deep drop, a crevasse to add depth there would've helped.
This set is amazing! Probably one of my favorites ever made.

A set similar to this would be sick for the Last Crusade Holy Grail scenes. Doubt it will ever happen because of the religious implications, but who knows.

I have the original set. However this set has a lot more details and looks way better. Definitely getting this set.
Fun fact! We actually do find big round boulders/spheres in pre-Columbian Americas, just more up north in Costa Rica
Looking at the Indiana Jones Ultimate Guide Book, the layout for the Temple shows that Golden Idol was in a circular chamber, and that the rest of the temple (the hallway with the boulder, the door, pit, ect.) kind of wrapped around the circumference of that chamber. Suggesting that the path through the temple was a large rounded hallway. It's weird because I was under the impression that the Temple was like the Diorama, with a relatively straight hallway.
The book was published by DK in 2008, and even includes Kingdom of the Crystal Skull stuff.
What an excellent not only display set but also play set with some awesome little play features and obviously the famous boulder scene. I honestly have no complaints

They could have easily integrated springloaded shooters tho as “arrow traps”. And have a turning knob with a wedge plate to launch them. I think they could’ve done that 🤷♂️. But I don’t think they did because it’s meant for quick display and quick fun, not “looking for missing bullets when fired”.
I feel like Belloq could have had dual molded legs with him having the high rising brown boots. Would have been cool; but I guess I missed opportunity!

Man, I have missed the intricate play features from the OG Indiana Jones line, and this set just surpasses all of them.

I’m excited for this set. It reminds me of the 2003 Cloud City set with the setup and play features.

Even though the Harry potter hair works better it is pretty funny that Satipo and doc ock have the same piece.
This set is sure tempting one of my best childhood memories was my first time to legoland on vacation and I got the original version of this set
I wish they kept the old face, but still redesigned his hat with a hairpiece 😅

I have the original, and it gives you more play room and more of a playset for kids.
It's actually my favorite set from Lego of all-time. I've never seen a toy, show the entire film sequence in a playset before. I think it's brilliant.
This new one, has some great features you showed. I'm definitely picking it up to display next to the old one. It's like this one gave the older one the deluxe treatment. Both are brilliant.
The one thing the original has over this (besides laying the great groundwork for the sequence), is it has the pontoon plane and the Jock figure with that exclusive torso with SKY PIRATES logo on the back.
I really love the space the original has, this one feels a little cramped
It’s cool that the boulder is on a mechanism, but I wish it was free standing so it actually falls with gravity and moves on its own in case you want to like, play with the boulder itself with the Indy minifigure
The spikes in the cave are called stalagmites. From the bottom up. The one's that come from the top down are stalactites.
The doc ock hair is a nod to one of the actor’s other roles: doc literal ock!
Im gonna get this and i think it's a great set because you can Display it and at the same time it got some awesome play features and some cool minifigs
This is great a nice display set next to the more play focused old one
this is going to be my favourite set. as anindy fan and lego fan, amazing dispayability and the play features are brilliant. as an owner of the pirates of barracuda bay, lion knights castle and now rivendell, this set trumps them

The ark of the covenant and the plane chase or both new sets, the temple of doom was delayed/canceled, so I wonder if the other pic on the manual, from the kingdom of the crystal skull, will also be a set later this year.
I think that skeleton might be meant to be Forrestal, Indy's competitor that we see impaled from the first trap.
These 2023 Indy sets represent why I got back into Lego. I had all the Indy sets back in the og 2008-2009 run. I’m a super fan. But look what they can do now with all the newer pieces that have come since then. The standard we expect now from Lego in 2023. I stepped away from Lego for almost a decade. Once I saw the newer Star Wars minifigures, I realized these things were just as cool as the expensive action figures I was buying. The detail and printing and the level of excellence Lego has come into completely sparked my love for it all again. These sets are amazing. I’m going to the lego store on April 1st to get all 3 of these. Really hope to see those older sets I built when I was 11 get the 2023 love. There’s 2 sets from then I would really want them to redo. The plane fight from raiders with brand new ww2 plane with gun turret, the gas truck, and maybe a shack that the mechanic steps out of to challenge Indy. I would also like to see the arc truck chase redone. This time tho, include the truck and then the car Belloq and all the villains were in. Instead of arc, have it be the crate the arc was put into. Put burning effect on sticker so the Swastika doesn’t have to be shown. Set would include the soldier Indy struggled in the truck with, and a four seater car with an alternate Belloq, the German general guy, a soldier driver, and finally a minifig of that psychotic dude with the glasses in the black suit and fedora
Would’ve appreciate a way to make the darts and the swing out spike trap but still a great set
This set is amazing, I really hope to get it. But with all the expensive sets coming this year, it’s gonna be hard

One thing I AWAYS was kind of miffed at would have EASILY been fixable with this new wave of sets.
We got Rene Belloq, we got Mola Ram, we Got Irina Spalko. But… WHERE IS WALTER DONOVAN?!??

I had the original, but I had a kid brain and took it apart never to be build again. Idk where the pieces went.
This is also the first time that Alfred Molina and Paul Freeman have had minifigures in their likenesses. That aside, both of the hair piece swaps you did look way more appropriate than what we get. It doesn’t matter though, I have such an emotional attachment to this film that I’ve got to get it.

What i think lego is gonna fo is lego added those scenes in the instructions. Two of then are sets one is a set we dont know the outcome of. So i think well get the temple if doom and that tomb where they find the crystal skull for a second series
It's really funny to me how this set from Lego themselves is aged 18+, especially with a Disney logo right on the front of the box. I can see some of the reasons for that age sure, but I never expected a set to higher than 16+.
Whats the name of the elastic that lego uses? Sometimes i run from lego sets because they use elastic.

It’s cool, but looking at it here, it looks really really tiny, would’ve liked more space for the boulder to chase Indy and a longer dart hallway section, it feels like it’s missing a big chunk, but it’s not bad. Also just one more of the tribe people would’ve made it a lot better, just getting one to me is very annoying, especially considering how expensive ($240 AUD seems insane to me for this, $180 I might’ve considered it but as is and for the amount I like it it’s a pass for me, I’ll definitely get the other two sets though I love those, this one, eh.
