I think the original is good for playing with as it has a lot of play features. The new one is more as a display piece and was made for us fans who grew up with the original set . I love them both ! One of the best lego sets created
To me, when comparing modern Lego to 2000s Lego, I think it's often a case of less is more. I didn't grow up with Lego aside from some of the early SpongeBob sets but like there's just a certain charm Lego sets had then. The simplicity of it worked to its advantage. I'd say both new and old have they're own sets of pros and cons so its really just down to personal preference. Just whatever you are looking for in a Lego set. I think older sets are better as toys and new sets are better for collectors who want these as display pieces. If the old set was being re-released alongside this for $60/$82 I would be more than happy just getting that one. Its just fun and charming as well as affordable. Its even bigger...sure it's less dense but yeah, just down to what you're looking for in a Lego set.
That'd be cool, could get the UBF-2 seaplane, a vine for Indy to swing on, a new Jock minifig, his pet snake Reggie, and more Hovitos warriors. Although unfortunately the Indy fig would include that cobweb print again
Raiders is my favorite movie of all time. Can't wait to pick this up. I have the original and this one looks like a decent remake, and works well as a diorama. Can't wait to display it
I’m glad to see the theme is returning, but nothing can really beat the charm of the originals. I am also disappointed in the box art, you pay $150 for it and it’s just a black box 😢
They need to get rid of the dull boring black boxes for a lot of sets. It's fine for stuff like Lego Art, the helmets, UCS sets. But other things like Lego Ideas, the Icons vehicles, Fairground Collection looked so much better with actual effort put in and boxart making the set look nice
@@VAULT-TEC_INC. it matters because it’s trying to appeal to people, the other sets have cool backgrounds, and this one just has a black one. I mean if it’s gonna be an expensive set and they are trying to appeal to people, why make the background just black?
I think the main difference between the two is one is meant to display and one is meant to play. The 2008 version was definitely meant as a play set which is why I think they included the plane so kids and adults can pretend to fly away. The 2023 set is more akin to strictly adult collectors who want to display it. In fact the 2023 set even specifically says 18+ on the set.
One of my truly favorites sets of all time, i freaking love Indiana Jones and the new set looks amazing. My favorite part is most likely the stone, i think it is a great way the made it in the new set
It's sad that Lego was able to printing on dark colours better 15 years ago than they are now. The skin looks so much better there. I think when I get these sets, I might swap out the torsos to the old ones. Also the new Indy just has this baby face that doesn't look as good IMO. I wish someone would put the new hat+hair combo on the old head because I want to see how that looks
Honestly comparing the old Indiana Jones sets with the new ones, I think the new ones are such good value, when it comes to price and pieces, especially if you look at the inflations the new sets are much better value for your money. And in almost all parts a clear improvement
@@wargattack8837 I think it's not horrible, for me, better to say, these figures are interesting, at least Indy, I guess I like them, but I agree with you...

It’s never too late to rebuild. A few months ago I took it upon myself to rebuild my 2012 Batcave even though it’s been dismantled in my huge Lego box for close to ten years. It took me days but I completed it and it was incredible to see it fully built again
@@icemav5740 I would really like to take the time to rebuild it. I love the new LEGO Indiana Jones minifigure update. It’s like they really portrayed it from Harrison Ford a lot more ever since the Han Solo minifigure updates in the LEGO Star Wars sets.
I never owned the original so the only bias I have is seeing it in the catalogs. That said, I like the expense of the original but the 2023 version improves on almost every other way. The 2008 set to me is better. More play options. Plus for 150 dollars most of the piece count is in the base and technic pieces...plus it's way smaller. Lego could have made this a Super set with more figures and included some spears like in the original set. I don't think I will be picking this one up. I have both the ghostbusters firehouse and the daily bugle. This set looks nicer but that's about it. And no way dies it compare with those 2 sets.

I think we should of had 1 of the indy figures from the 3 sets to come with a hat with no hair because his hat always falls off in the films and we could of also had an updated hair piece with no hat attached. Instead of having all 3 new figs having the same hat/hair piece.
Could you swap some of the hats or faces with the new minifigures. I'd really love to see how they look with combined pieces. Otherwise very cool video, you seem really passionate about the sets and thats great! Keep it up!

Hey, fantastic review. It my greatest LEGO related regret never buying this way back then... BTW, just heads up, your title and description references set 7632... It should be 7623. More people will find your video if you update it. Keep up your good work.
I prefer the older indy design. It had a more mature look to it. The new design, while good, makes him look very young, and the printing looks more cartoon-y. Belloq's printing is a vast improvement, although I'm not sure how I feel about the sweat printing. While accurate and immersive, it limits playability. Also, if you want to buy the figure for a custom character, it's also limited. Same with satipo.
Here is how i view it. The original lego set was designed as a play set and can be used as such because the people buyingor recieving lego at the time were usually parents who liked indiana jones and had kids or kids who just liked the movies (me). The new lego set is a diorama. Now that all those kids have grown up. They also remember that lego set but unlike at the tine of the originals release we are all adults now. Most people dont play with lego like its supposed to and indtead display it. So it makes sense for it to be more static over moveable.
Its surprising that they had us MAKE the giant rockball instead of just giving us another rock ball piece but who knows maybe someone simply Misplaced the ball mold piece in a drawer somewhere lol
I have just bought a second temple set to add more room to play, I love the new set but it is too cramped and needs to be around a third as long as it is. I'm adding a blow dart room and making the ball run longer, i am also adding a better outside area by the entrance, once the tribe figures are on bricklink I am going to add a few more to surround Indy as per the movie. I also want the Plane, and pilot too. All the best elements of the early set with the newer ideas of the later one.
I really prefer the print on the old Indie torso and legs. The shirt and jacket look more rumpled, it's easier for the eye to pick out the details too. On the legs, the old belt has much finer detail, with great belt loops and touches of gold on the pistol holster and belt end. The head and hat are much better on the new one, though, for sure. So I ve put the head and hat on an old figure. I don't miss the back detail at all.
I would definitely have to go with the new one’ I used to have the old one back in the day and back then for me it was considered a really good set and still is’ I’m picking up the newer version next week and I have to say it definitely looks better with more colours of green foliage wile the old one just had one plain colour of green for the whole thing’ and another problem with the old one was that I could never get the image out of my head that the two long tubes used for the bolder looked a lot like train tracks in some sort of way’ and that sadly kinda pulled the whole feeling of it being a temple away from it.
Hi hate to say it but the prior release was so much better than this one. I can attest I had the kingdom of the crystal skull set and it used similar plate pieces as well as a large raised baseplate. Not only that but said thick plates were used in the set shown here and it was one set that I wish I had when I was young But I am so glad that they brought this theme back !
for me the classic style LEGO is so much nicer, with all the extra real estate compared to modern sets and much lower piece density - the new style is more about design and display and not so much about making cool play sets
Hey my man I have a question we all know these are like some kind of remakes from the old Lego sets and well we hope the temple of the doom comes out, so do you think that there will be Indy sets from the new movie?
I think both ha e there pros and con and would wanna combine em they would be sick like the space of the original is crazy and detail of new one is great but MISSIN DA PLANE I NEED A da plane and I hate snakes
I think I like everything about the new version more EXCEPT for the boulder section; I really like how far the boulder goes in the original set and how much space there is compared to the new one. I’d say if you combined that one section with the rest of the new set you’d have the perfect Indy set.
I can’t help but be disappointed with the boulder feature in the new one it’s just way too small and the feature while nice feels a lot less faithful to the source material because the boulder is linked to the mechanism the whole time and isn’t really rolling. And Jones running from the boulder is just so iconic and there’s no space to really capture that in the new one. I wish the new one had the same space as the old one while having the knob in the same place to just release the boulder but allowing it to actually roll freely like the original. If it had that and wasn’t missing Jock and the plane it would be a pretty much perfect upgrade. The idol mechanism is so much better in the new one so I guess which model you like more kind of depends on the part of the scene you care the most about. I’m almost considering getting a second set so I can display the set the way it’s designed and using the other to make it the same except for changing the boulder section to the way I wish it was. It’s very difficult for me to pick either set over the other. The new one vastly improved in a good number of areas but the old one does have some notable things going for it that the new one just lacks.

Hey my man I have a question we all know these are like some kind of remakes from the old Lego sets and well we hope the temple of the doom comes out, so do you think that there will be Indy sets from the new movie?
I had the 2008 version but I lost the boulder so I then destroyed the set, why younger me whyyyyy 😭😭😂😂
Seeing Lego bring back this theme gives me a bit of hope for them to bring back other licensed themes like SpongeBob.
New one is better imo mainly cause of the colors & play features
I think both ha e there pros and con and would wanna combine em they would be sick like the space of the original is crazy and detail of new one is great but MISSIN DA PLANE I NEED A da plane and I hate snakes
I think I like everything about the new version more EXCEPT for the boulder section; I really like how far the boulder goes in the original set and how much space there is compared to the new one. I’d say if you combined that one section with the rest of the new set you’d have the perfect Indy set.
The old Indy fig was better
I mean the new indie is also bald without his hat
What's your favorite Indian Jones Movie? Mine is Temple of Doom
