Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

@stephenhill5986 I think part of the fun for them is building and revealing. Plus I was thinking they would do it with the normal weapons. They would be a little more forgiving and make it more fun and entertaining.
I was thinking the same thing for the multiplayer battles. Bomber dog fights, but the weapons can only point downwards.

Well that just won't work
In one vid there was a situation where one pilot (the main one) couldn't see because of a bug and they just crashed very quickly

Do something similar, but without the bombs, so you literally have to fly up to the enemy planes and "punch" them

Do a second person dogfight (you control your plane but you see from the enemy's plane)
How would they even go about doing that?
@@TheFirstPotato Include camera blocks, connect the two finished builds with detachable blocks (crucially NOT set to "turn into scrap"), and make sure that each seat only controls the parts that will stay connected to it. I'm not convinced that it's a good idea either, but it IS possible.

For your transparent damage cube, I recommend making each layer a different color. It will be ALOT easier to tell that way. The 5x5 layer, the 3x3 layer, and the center block is the final layer.
Reminds me of the Me. 163's prototype recoilless guns that fired upwards out of the wings when something casts a shadow over it, used to shred through bombers at close range
There also were some experimental assault planes with SMGs used in this way.
Look up the _Junkers-Larsen JL-12_ with its array of just under 30 Tommies scattered into three arrays OR the Soviet _Tupolev Tu-2Sh_ with a battery of 96 drum-fed PaPaShas (if my memory serves me well)
Not gonna lie, I wish Trailmakers had the ability to pack the autocannons this densely just to see how close can you get to the bombs' destructive power.
What if you made a plane, that drops a drone (glider) that shoots rockets as it slowly flies down

You have created a good amount of "alternate firing vehicles" by now. I would love for you to do a series "Battling our best builds" where you get the guys and do 1 video per person. On your channel, everyone uses your builds, on their video, everyone uses their build. It's a fun way to show off your different creations to the others and get their reaction.
I'd also like to see you revisit the bomb bay missile idea and see if you can make it a hybride that can use transform the functionality back into a normal bomb bay _(aims down and no additional drop velocity while in bomber-mode)_ based on a toggle key.

In WW2 German used to have cannon top of their planes its called ''Schräge Musik'' They made planes with cannons facing upwards to shoot bombers more easily instead of going up to them

As far as I know, the developers actually release the damage of weapons in some value. In the update 1.6.3 (i think) they reduced the missile explosion damage from 600 to 300.
And another example, the AI dogfighters had a health buff from 400 to 1000.
I am sure you could find the bomb and Cannon damage aswell

@@tech-boy334 Scrapman's job is to provide content. I don't know about you, but I'm sure as hell not going to watch him reading some text to find out the damage values, or how fast a missile travels etc.
Watching him work out how to work it out, every failure, every success, is enjoyment.
That's the point. Sure he COULD just read a file that tells him everything. But that's not creating content for us to watch.

Uses it for about two seconds
Make a kind of 3D checker cube for a target, but also integrate 2x1 frame blocks. So you have your 6x6x6 cube. Top will be alternating solid, glass, solid, glass in a checkered pattern. Next layer, off set the checker pattern by 1 meaning you build the edges with 2x1 solid or glass blocks and then use 2x2 blocks in between alternating. Next layer is offset by 1 more, so you have this kind of walking pattern of checkering solid blocks floating in a clear glass block. It'll let you keep better track of where damage is happening in the block.
Also, the black powder cannons have a sneaky inherent trajectory programmed into them. They will always "arc" "upwards". What I mean is wherever you've set the base, the round will curve away from that plane slightly as if it was trying to fire against gravity if it was level. I found this out trying to make a piston black powder cannon flak gun. I had 4 "crossed" around 1 2x2 block and the cannon balls all bloomed out instead of holding straight. So your cannon balls are crossing over each other as they "arc" "upwards" from their plane of attachment. If you had them all facing the same way, they'd all arc the same way and hit near the same point instead of you having 2 points of detonation.
Would be a cool idea to have a submarine on magnets that’s dropped from a plane and then caught by the plane and carried away using the magnets.
Kind of like the catching a car.
After what a nightmare that one was, I expect he's NEVER doing anything like that again lol.

I feel like with this kind of weapon system the kind of aircraft that would work really nice is something that is able to move freely in 3D like turn however fast angle wherever and move however. I feel like that kind of aircraft weapon combo would be ultimate.
Add a hinge so you can swivel the gun forward and back to lead or lag shots while maintaining flight angle
This plane brings to mind the AC-130 gunships. Might be a neat 2v2 battle with one pilot and one gunner controlling the airborne artillery.
Idea to build on that: Place targets you want to hit among those you don't, each team gets a time limit to get as many points as possible.

I got the best ad timing. When scrapman said "oh no. If I click right now I'm dead" I got to see only one frame of explosion
Please do a dogfight with the boys, using this kind of design, would love to see that.
this needs to be made into a turret, say a quad firer that you could add to the bottom of planes, top of tanks etc, also, i think the piston missiles you found were not easy to aim anymore might have helped in this weeks multiplayer battle
You should do a dogfight with the cannons facing vertically upward!
Back in WW2, the Germans had a weapon system called “Schräge Musik”. It consisted of either autocannons, or machine guns, that faced vertically upward. It was meant so that a plane, the Bf110 for example, could fly below a bomber, and hit the bomber with an autocannon or machine gun volley. All the while being in a blind spot to the gunners.
For moving targets, maybe adding slightly different delay to the cannons to get a bit more spread in time (assuming there's any wiggle room within the piston speed to make it work)?
(ADHD haven't watched the whole video, so for al I know you will make this modification when I unpause, lol)
You should make a video where the smallest creation kit appointment, and the one the twins, a race or a battle gets a point this will make you choose between simplicity and speed or defense

I have a theory on how to fix the fast-missile auto-aim.
If the speed is measured from the cockpit speed, then would placing the cockpit on similar pistons also make the auto-aim account for the increased velocity?
You transparent testing cube could probably be made of multiple colors to make easier to count the missing ones.

You should do a dogfight where you cant use premade weapons so you have to design your own missiles like the torpedo video
Each time scrapman try a concept like this it end up in a dogfight rule.

Suggestion for the damage testing block
Only have the outer layer a different color it should be easier to detect a missing block
you should do a ground battle only using the bomb bay attacks like in one of your previous vids where you launched bombs using them idk
I feel like a cool multiplayer thing would be a air or sea version of the 3v3 tank battle you did a bit back. Have different size/power classes.
I don't remember if there is a skybox for stuff like cannon balls, rockets and stuff like that, but as science you could do a see how much height does it get both with and without the modification launcher, and maybe have a type of surviving in the area while dropping speed cannons happen (could be just something vibrating quickly as to make it noisy enough for a bit of randomness as to survive the rain of cannon-balls

Your weapon system kinda resembles WW2 german Sraege music (wrong music) cannons, but they pointed upwards with some angle to the front. Cool video!
I wonder if the spread could be reduced by adding another piston on the other side. It seemed to shake the contraption weirdly with just the one.
Eveolution catapult/launch the cockpit as far as possible. This map with the runway would be a good launch start

Multiplayer challenge with Yuezi. Both of you build a bomber and a ground turret. Turn off your tags so you dont know where the other is at and go at it. Player with planes is limited to X amount of planes to respawn to vs turret cannot rebuild. Once object turret is protecting is destroyed match is over

I'm not sure how buggy it will get, but it might make it easier to hit air targets if you change the angle of each cannon. I think that will make a multiplayer batter more interesting.

@@gabrielhenson5751 Yeah, I think one canon ball hitting will do more than enough damage to another plane. Also, it might make for a more interesting video since it will involve more hits and more narrow survivals

Bomber style dogfights with regular weapon progression
It'd be an awesome multiplayer dogfight with the bombers like that. Would like to join.

Scrapman I wonder what would happen if you had forward and reverse thrust for dogfights , so like you have your forward thrust as normal for flight but then reverse thrust to act like brakes to cause a stallout and quick spin around. So when you turn on the front thrust the rear thrust turns off causing you to stall and turn in any direction needed , would it make it easier to shoot down someone who is just going in circles because turn radius would be greater
So I see a more of a trend of planes and ships, battling im curious will there be mechs, castle defense with turrets, subs, and more players participating in show downs or will it just be similar stuff.
Scrap-man! I got an idea and a half! Make a plane with repositioning cannons.
Cannons that move to a different part of the plane to shoot somewhere else.
This might work better in Instruments Of Destruction.

You should do a multiplayer dogfight but you can only have your gun facing backwards
you can test the damage of something by shooting it at a red baloon or something with a health bar and seeing the damage like that

hi :) video idea, try and attach your self to the speeder and see what happens
what about the Tank Cannon rather than the pirate ship cannon, you seem to forget about this one. from testing it seems more powerful. also your piston push system seems to also work on thrusters etc giving you more speed.

Oh, I have an idea! Multiplayer helicopter dogfight or chase a target, but this time with a new twist: co-op where one of you is the pilot and flies and the other operates the weapon(s)-like a real AH-64 Apache or Mi-24 Hind. You would have to coordinate. Teams would use each weapon twice with the pilot and gunner switching for the second round *or* each player could build a helicopter of their own and fly it in their round with the team mate who is not flying in that round being the gunner in the nose.
I got the idea after seeing your video titled “These Helicopter / Infiltration Missions Feel Like a New Game” last night before I went to bed.
Maybe test the speed limit of the projectiles if they even have one, could also end up with a lightspeed cannonball

I just got an awesome idea. what if you put a rocket launcher on a turret in a way that it collides and turns the turret and put the cannons on it so that you have the lock on of the missile launcher. it may not work as the bullet speeds are different but you can try. you want like put 2 triangles facing inside so it will collide when the rocket launcher turns to lock on. i dont actually have trailmakers but plan on buying it from steam when i get a computer

Round 2 is rockets (with auto-aim disabled)

Use an attack plane like an A-10 thunderbolt or something to ground strike a target. Ps attempt to dive down on a target unleash mini guns or smart cannons and then finish it off with some rockets before pulling up.

I would love to see a challenge video where you shoot down a fighter jet and the explosion that we saw when it did not eject hit a shield generator to see if it hurts it.
