I use the super glue technique, however i also use "wood hardner" on the inside of the tube. It really helps with the durability of cardboard tubes. I have a Caliber ISP from 1991 that is still going strong. The wood hardner really helps the durability. Love the channel

Great idea Jason! I am going to give that a try.

I use a piece of bungie cord to act as a shock absorber , surgical tubing would work the same way

How about "Zipper Proof", now that it's upgraded.... Boom. Love the channel

Great video! As for a new name, what about "Reincarnated."
On my recent flight a minor zipper resulted, taking about a 3/4" chunk off my inner tube. To fix it I cut off 1" from the top and replaced it with 2 layers of carbon fiber tubing (using the same diameter). Step 1, the first layer was cut 1" and placed on top essentially restoring the original appearance. Step 2, the external coupler, a second tubing was cut 2" tall (with one slice so it could wrap around both the 1" replacement and original tube) and then epoxied. I used as an external coupler since my airframe uses a piston ejection. I sanded the edges round to prevent shock cord frey. The upper ring is now 2x as thick, lightweight, and very strong. I suppose you could use an inside coupler too...you'd just need to figure out a solution with your nose cone.

That is one sturdy repair and another great name!

I would definitely start using the thin CA versus super glue on the tube edges. It seeps much further into the tube. I thought your surgical tube was a great little tip 👍. The name should be ZIPPERTIPPER

I agree, the thin CA works best. One viewer suggested wood hardener and that seems to help as well. I have another idea that involves a collar on the outside. Thanks for your comments and name suggestion!

I coated my cardboard with thin epoxy. Rock solid. “Zip file”

It's a mod now, so it deserves a new name. Maybe name it "Zipped Up" or "XYZ" (check your zipper)
